I do not know if this is a new owner or it is the same owner because I was confused because the sign and everything was Los Jarrones, but the name on the menu was Colombian, and it was Colombian Food not Honduran food. This place was nice, and had the fancy big huge jars, the theme of Los Jarrones. We ordered a Colombian Tamale, and a combo platter with steak, sausage, colombian arepas, and rice. The first thing that completely turned me off is the first bite of the tamale was a slimy muscle part of the pork, and when I say slimy, yes slimy, the second bite, oh guess what same thing. When I broke it apart, it was a hunk of pork with the biggest bone ever. Maybe that is the way those tamales are made, but i did not like it at all, and I like almost everything. The steak was cold and flavorless, and it just was the same for everything else. The best part was the passion fruit shake. The service was fine, and it should be bc there was no one there but they had just opened. The place looked clean and nice, but the food no way, yuck. sorry.

I would be remiss if I didn’t comment on the wonderful seafood soup We had at this Honduran restaurant during the Latin Crawl on Armenia arranged by Steve E, Mike S, and Rich D. The flavor was superb, and has left me graving it since that day. The coconut milk combined with the red snapper, mussels, and shrimp and a seafood broth will have me going back for more, for sure. Thanks to all for a really wonderful afternoon of friends, food, and Unilocaling!

I enjoyed the Garifuna seafood soup with coconut milk very much and my blackberry(mora) shake was delicious. The owner host was very gracious. I’m probably at 3.5÷5 though. Some details need attention but hopefully everything will be humming along here with time and I would like to see more Honduran dishes on the menu(I didn’t see baleada, but maybe I missed it?). Laid back atmosphere with lovely murals of scenes from indigenous Central American Indian life. I would like to try more of the offerings in future. Enjoyed my first visit very much.

Enjoyed this again as 2rd stop in a Unilocaler crawl event yesterday. The owner, Diego gave us full attention and samples of his wonderful Sopa de Mariscos… a wonderful seafood soup with shrimp, fish and mussels in a coconut infused broth. The entire group approved of the sampler and other dishes we tried, even after having eaten for over 3 hours at 3 stops.

I have never tried Honduran food before and the Unilocal reviews for this place intrigued me so I gave it a shot. I’m really glad that I did. I had a fantastic meal here! I’m glad that one of the reviews pointed out that this used to be a Chinese restaurant. I was really confused when I tried to view this place using Google Street View. There was obviously a very extensive remodeling done since those street view pictures were taken. The first thing I noticed when I walked into the restaurant is that it was spotlessly clean and obviously very well maintained. They have placemats that are embroidered with the restaurant’s logo, which is a nice touch. There’s lots of pottery, murals, and artwork decorating the place. I’m not exactly sure why I was sitting next to a column with Egyptian hieroglyphics on it, but I gave a shout out to Anubis. :) I squealed like a ten year old girl at a Justin Beiber concert when I saw that they have a room with old arcade games and pinball machines at the front of the building. Perfect for entertaining the kids, as well as big kids like myself. Our very friendly server pointed out that there were lunch specials on the back of the menu. For around six bucks I got a generously large, boneless, grilled chicken breast, rice, and some beans. The chicken was juicy and seasoned wonderfully. Normally I do not care for bean dishes but I really liked mine. My meal was reasonably priced, healthy, and delicious in a very nice environment.

3.5 Went with 4 Hondurans(the true authorities on whether the food was good or not) … The mixta was dry… bland…beans were bland. Not impressed. The others ordered the snapper which was good but was overfried, making the fish meat very dry. The coconut gallo pinto was very tasty. Plenty of parking and clean décor. Was not busy at all on a friday night. We went at 630pm and we were the only ones there by the time we left at 8pm. They do automatic gratuity fyi… 18%. If you do order the catrachada mixed beef, just a reminder, it looks just like mexican fajitas…

This is a spectacular Latin restaurant located along Armenia Avenue between Waters and Sligh, and near the intersection of Kirby Street. Los Jarrones(translates to The Vases or The Jars) is a family-owned Honduran eatery specializing in seafood, churrasco, red snapper, and bandeja paisa. Los Jarrones started as a pottery shop, filled with beautiful and colorful vases, masks, and wall hangings. The restaurant opened less than a year ago, right next door to the pottery store, and you’ll find the restaurant is decorated with gorgeous Mayan murals, large vases, and pieces of pottery. The cloth placemats are embroidered with the colorful Los Jarrones logo, and even the table-side ceramic napkin holders are cast with the restaurant’s familiar artwork. The restaurant has the main eating area to the right as you walk through the front doors, and a second private dining /meeting room off to the left. The menu is a wonderful mixture of authentic Honduran, Peruvian, and Latin delights. Diego and his wife told me that all of the recipes are homestyle family recipes which are primarily Honduran. You’ll find delicious soups, salads, empanadas, sandwiches, and full Latin entrees on the menu. They have daily lunch specials for $ 6.99 Monday — Friday. For dinner tonight I enjoyed a bowl of their tortilla soup which was a thick, creamy blend of tomato and chiles, topped with tortilla strips. The soup was served with sides of fresh queso fresco cheese, cubes of avocado, and fried pork skins. This is one of THE best bowls of tortilla soup that I’ve ever eaten. I followed Mike S.‘s recommendation and ordered an authentic Honduran special known as Catrachada Mixta for my main course. This was a well-flavored plate of beef and chicken fajita meat, sauteed with onions and bell peppers, and served with rice, beans, a slice of avocado, homemade corm tortillas, and a wedge of fresh cheese. Absolutely delicious!!! The next time I go back I’m anxious to try the Red Snapper which Diego said is the best dish on their menu.

Not only was the décor amazing and fun, it was very clean! I felt like I was in a fun Disney themed restaurant! The wait staff is very well put together and polite. Very attentive and food and service was quick. The food was delicious, after reading previous elite reviews, I expected none the less. The typical steak was delicious. It comes with beans and salsa, cheese and tortillas. All made and prepared fresh! I was amazed by the fresh ingredients! It was just delicious. The chips and salsa I received before my food was delicious as well, salsa was tasty and chips were freshly made. Prices are a little steep for entrees but still I think worth the price 100% I also recommend the free arcade! :) just have fun with this place.

Los Jarrones(translated as Big Jars) is a Honduran restaurant which I would describe as a bit more upscale than your average central American joint. They have a pottery business across the street where they import hand crafted art items from Honduras, some of the pieces being most beautiful. Yes, yes, but what about the food? Outstanding. As good as it gets. Their tortilla soup is a tomato based soup that is rich and tasty, and comes with pork rinds, cheese, and avocado pieces to mix in. The small soup is a meal(and only $ 3) and the large soup big enough to take a bath in. And you’ll want to its so good. The salads are HUGE and very cheap. It looks like they cut two chicken breasts on top of either ceasar salad or a mixture of greens and fruits. Seriously, you can feed two people and they are like $ 7. The regular entrees, on the other hand, I found to be a bit pricey, but not overly so. And you definitely get what you pay for. The«Typical Beef Los Jarrones» is a fabulously seasoned skirt steak with tortillas, cheese, refried black beans and plantains. Absolutely delicious. The ambiance is very colorful with beautiful paintings on the walls, and the tables are nicely appointed with hand crafted place mats and napkin holders. By Hispanic restaurant standards this one is very nice. I’d bring clients here. Service was a bit slow but very friendly. I met one of the owners and he chatted with us like we were family. We were made to feel very welcome, which is why we keep coming back. Again and again. Last time we tried an appetizer that wasn’t on the menu. It had fried pork chunks, fried chicken chunks, chorizo and plantains. OMG. I’m having that as an entrée next time. If you are looking for a great Hispanic dinner experience, give Los Jarrones a try. You might even walk out with some finely hand crafted jars from Honduras. This is as good as it gets!

Why 5 stars? Because I had to go back and confirm the greatness. I did just that. — — — I was reluctant to hand out a 5-star review to a newer place until I was able to try it out a second time. I tried it a second time and I’m no longer shy with giving out 5-stars. The Typical Steak is absolutely top-notch and what I will order from now on, but the Catrachada Mixed Beef and Chicken is MUY bueno! I told the server that I loved the Typical Steak but wanted to try something different. He recommended the shrimp alfredo, but I wanted something more Honduran than Italian. I was not disappointed with the country of Honduras. This is not going to be a regular stop for me. Thank you Los Jarrones for being so awesome.
