Excellent pizza. Had a couple slices at the restaurant, really good. Reheated the next day on a skillet, fantastic! Crispy and delicious. Perfect pizza dough.

We had been going there for 35 years when it was Galley pizza. Loved the place.
We went there after Tate took over. I parked at the end (where I had parked for 35 years) We got inside and some rude woman told me I had to move my car because that was no longer a parking space. I said it clearly was and always had bee. She said, they were going to redo the spaces. Yeah, we went out and moved the car, right out of there. We left and didn’t look back.
Yes, I was stupid enough to go back. This time I was told that the dining room was not open and we had to sit in the bar area. I told her we don’t sit in bars. She persisted. We left and will never go back unless it gets better owners.

This place is run by total idiots. I called tonight asking for delivery. I live about one mile south of Kennedy. Some Rhodes Scholar asked if I live south of Gandy in an obvious attempt to blow me off since they do not deliver south of Gandy. There are multiple times that items are missing from the order and no one seems to care. Everyone on the counter just laughs when you tell them how screwed up your orders have been. It is clear that no one in this dump cares. The good news that I heard tonight is a Tate family member will
soon be there at night. It will help. It could not get any worse

Waited an hour and a half for a pizza even though we live 5 minutes down the street. Driver claims he was sent out of his area and ownership claims they were down a driver. Both signs of poor management. Not the first time. When you anger the locals at a place that lives off of locals, you have problems.

Great neighborhood restaurant! Super kid friendly and delicious pizza. Management and staff are always friendly and accommodating. Outside area is a great spot for parties and get-​togethers.

We just spent $ 50 for two dinners and a pizza — what a waste. The chicken marsala was swimming in a pool of grease and the broccoli was floating in something that might be called butter but tasted like a nasty used cooking oil. Veal Francese was also greasy with no garlic flavor and over powering lemon tones. Pasta was cooked well but seemed coated in margarine or cooking oil. Garlic bread was cold and hard. Salad was iceberg with old tomatoes and oil vinegar they call Italian dressing. The pizza was decent but there are better places in the area for the prices charged. Have given this place many many chances to get their act together but this is last straw. What a waste — the neighborhood could use a place that can do SIMPLE italian food for a reasonable price. This place has neither the food nor the value!

Well, just had my first experience with Tate’s Westshore. Sad to say, it’s a major disappointment! The closing of Tate’s SOHO forced me to try the Westshore location and I can tell you the quality of both the service on the phone and food was completely opposite of what I’d come to love at the SOHO location. My first indication should have been the poor attitude of the woman who answered the phone when I called. She was short and rude. Now I have a $ 20 minimum to be delivered to me?! Their shop is only 2.6 miles away, malarkey I say! The delivery time more than doubled, so when my food arrived it was not hot. Then I opened the box and was sadly disappointed as the quality has dropped as well. The worst part is they charge $ 4 dollars for meatballs on a large pizza and I don’t think there is even 1 full meatball on my entire pie. I will be moving on from Tate’s reluctantly. My advice is if you’re on the east side of S. Tampa find another pizza place.

The wings are the best in town and their Greek salad is my favorite. The pizza is also pretty damn good! The staff is friendly as well and the owner is occasionally crack jokes with you. Be careful on Friday evenings. That place gets packed!

I have been a regular at Tates for several months. The service is always excellent and the atmosphere is friendly and clean. Recently the menu selection has expanded and I always find a new dish to enjoy. The food is mostly five star quality but also very reasonably priced. They even have ice cream. This is a favorite place for my friends and I to enjoy casually or enjoying the music for the weekends I would recommend Tates to anyone.

This was a tough review because I have had a few three star meals at Tate’s, but that’s not the norm. First, the calamari is done perfectly (most of the time) where it’s still moist and tender and not the rubber bands you get at most places. Greek salad is classic and never disappoints. I love the Howey’s Native pie… white pizza with chicken and artichoke. Very friendly staff, perfect fit the family and enough room on the patio to let the kids run around.

Used to love their pizza when my friend used to live on Davis Island. I think they care more about their pizza and wings back then but now that they own 2 locations is missing that original touch. This location seems bigger although it needs a little love. Place looks old and dirty. I understand they took over this space but is not inviting at all. Service is great but besides carry out I don’t see myself dinning in. I think this space has potential and a little upgrade especially their bar wouldn’t hurt.

My friend and I ordered their Big Daddy and White Czar pizza, so I was able to try both and YUM! These guys really know how to make one hell of a pizza! Their dough was crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and full of flavor! Their ingredients were very fresh, and the pizzas were both cooked to perfection. Not to mention the staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful. Loved it!

Table service was excellent! The pizza and wings (Carolina BBQ) weren’t bad either.
My only problem was the amount of noise in the restaurant! Several tables with adults separated from their small children on other tables… literally had to shout across my own table to be heard.
If you don’t mind that type of noise, I’d recommend Tate’s. If you prefer to hear a conversation while eating, may want to drive a little further.

As far as Togo DON’T DO IT !! I use to love this place but has totally gone down hill. Messed up my girls order for the last time watered down soup an over cooked pizza. I’ll go to 711 before I’d get that stuff again

I had never been here but have lived down the street from it for 2 years now. Unfortunately, I know now why no one ever recommended it. When we first arrived, the waitress came to the table twice within 5 minutes. We were not yet ready to order. Then she disappeared and then it felt like another 15 mins before we could find her to order. Then our food did not arrive for another 30 minutes after we ordered. I ordered ravioli and my friend ordered chicken parmesan. The sauce for the ravioli was tasty and a little sweet like I like it but my food was also lukewarm. I would’ve normally sent it back but by this point I was starving. 45 minutes in the restaurant and no dinner until then. Although this is close by, I probably will not be eating here again.

Usually the wings are very good. Tonight, they tasted reheated and dry. The pizza is usually better also. I don’t know if they got a new chef or something but it has definitely gone down in quality.

Cheese & Pepperoni Large Pie
The Verdict:
The Parmie Puffs were spectacular. Parmesan covered bread sticks doused in garlic buttery goodness. We have a winner, folks.
The pie was delish! The sauce was tangy and well distributed, cheese very nice on the palate & the crust was neither thick nor thin, crispy in the right places… I felt like Goldilocks (This one is JUST RIGHT!).
Service was great and there were three TV’s in the dining room (we watched some serious sports…) and it appeared that the patio was quite nice (it was raining when we visited).
Tate’s…coming from two hardcore pizza lovers, you’re our new favorite find.
