11÷3÷2015 Just had breakfast there and it was slow as molasses… maybe they do not pay well enough to hire good staff but this was totally outrageous. We had to ask the waitress for creamer for our coffees. I finally got up and went to the waitress to ask for it and she said she would bring it but ‘no way’ was I leaving her side until I got the creamer. It took forever just to get our coffees not to mention the meal. We were the first to be served too. There was a fellow at the counter the entire time we were there waiting for carry out. He rolled his eyes several times while I waited for the creamer. It is the first time in years that I only tipped 10%.

One of the slowest and most unoraganized coffee shop I’ve been to. Can’t remember a simple 2 drink order. Ice coffee and a latte. And the ice coffee is already pre made! And it took forever to make the latte. It’s like the girl is trying to figure out how to use the machine. And I ordered a french vanilla latte … the barista doesn’t know how many pumps of what syrup to put in. ?? I thought a coffee house was quick and easy. In and out and straight to work. Not this one. Finally got the coffee and got to work and the ice coffee tasted like dirt. All I taste is burnt coffee mixed with nasty tap water. Defintely do not recommend. The latte was good according to my co worker.

OMG, we were just passing through and stopped there. What a big mistake. I ordered the chicken green chile enchiladas and i received a green pepper, onion cheese and mushroom quesadilla. Left only a 15 percent tip. First clue if you only have ONE table you should get the order right. We ate paid and left because i don’t return food in places this lame. They also started to LOCK the doors at 2:15. She told us they did not want anymore customers!!! Duhh, maybe you should just close down. Food was not horrible and she actually was pretty attentive except for ordering the totally wrong thing. I usually tip really good so 15 percent is for horrible service. These people are just way to anxious to get off work.

Good food, clean place. Service was fast and friendly. Piñon coffee is smooth … My favorite. Had a very nice breakfast here. We will be back.

Green chile chicken posole and the purple sage sandwich are the perfect lunch. Dining on the patio after two tea refills while reading inside. Excellent service for the two and a half hours I was here. Thank you, Crystal.

First time to Taos and we decided to try out The Purple Sage. While waiting for the rest of our group to arrive, the manager explained the grill would be closing in 30 minutes. I assured her we would get our orders in in time. We sat outside and pulled tables together. Our young server began to wipe off our table and was soon joined by the angry manager. She threw chairs aside as she haphazardly wiped down our tables. I thanked her twice and got no reply. At this Point I ventured back inside to ask if she wanted us dining at her establishment to which she responded, «I don’t care.» …and we took our appetites to the Bent Street Café! Best decision of the day!

The food was cold and stale. The restaurant was not crowded so there was no excuse for this.

We stumbled across this cute little café on our way home from Santa Fe. It was around 9:30AM and we were hankering for a big breakfast — man, did we hit the mother lode! I ordered the Breakfast Bowl, which is a fried flour tortilla«bowl» you get to customize by choosing whatever ingredients you want to fill it with. Mine was full of potatoes, sautéed veggies, scrambled eggs, shredded roast pork, cheddar cheese and smothered in green chili. OMFG… not only was it HUGE, but it was THEBESTBREAKFAST I’VEEVERHAD! I might have to make the 5-hour drive down to Taos on a regular basis just for the Breakfast Bowl! YUM!!! Oh, and the service was awesome, too!

I am sorry to read about the poor service everyone else had. Our service was fine. We were tourists and we tried getting some breakfast in the tourist area, but the restaurants were super-crowded. So we drove around until we found the Purple Sage café. It was uncrowded, and the waitress got right to us. My husband ordered a breakfast burrito, which he was very happy with. I’m on a no-carb diet, so I ordered a breakfast sandwich without the bread. That was a scrambled egg with a little cheese melted on top, and sauteed veggies: mushrooms, bell peppers, onions and zucchini. The prices were low, the place was quiet, and we went back the next day and had another peaceful, inexpensive, yummy breakfast.

We came in here twice this weekend: once for coffee and a smoothie to-go and once for breakfast and coffee. The coffee was pretty yummy, and the smoothie was as well, but the cup was overfilled so the smoothie got over everything in my car. The breakfast was pretty darn good, but there were little things that made this a meh experience: 1) Counter service on day #2: Hi, I’d like a Medium Americano was met with ‘uhh, ok, americano. what size did you want?‘ 2) Food on day #2: While the food was actually really good(I got a breakfast burrito smothered with chile sauce, the fiancé got a ham and bacon omelet), my burrito had ingredient segregation(you know where one whole area is potatoes, and the other area is eggs so you can never get a bite with both. I ended up performing surgery to eat it), and the omelet was the same way(two slice of uncut ham).

not disabled friendly. refused service to a disabled patron illegally. offered to «allow» the disabled customer to eat in the garden, despite this kind of segregation being against the law. not on a bet.

Stopped in with the family on a Monday lunch hour. We were wanting green chile and didn’t want to pay Taos Square premium for it. We saw Purple Sage and pulled in. They were very busy and full so we sat at the small counter. It seems the counter was low because we couldn’t get our knees underneath and ended up sitting sideways. We ordered 2 green chiles, a 3 taco plate and a roast beef sandwich. The chile was good. The roast beef could’ve used some horseradish but different strokes… We had a gentleman seat us and a lady brought us our meals in reasonable time. We didn’t feel we waited too long at all. The gentleman stopped by a couple times during the meal to refill drinks and another lady stopped by to invite us to a vacant table but we had already finished our meal. The bill was reasonable($ 3.85 for a bowl of green chile and $ 7.99 for the sandwich). The place is small with a counter that seats 4 and 8 tables inside seating 4 each. There is a large outdoor seating area but it was threatening to snow so we stayed inside. They also have a well stocked coffee/espresso bar and carry Naked Bee products.

We ate at the Purple Sage several days ago. The food was good the service was terrible. Sat down had to wait almost 15 minutes before anyone took our order. We weren’t the only ones either, several tables were in the same position(no service). The manager decided to help, big mistake. He took our order and left came back 20 minutes later, brought the wrong sandwiches a blt instead of a wrap, and never brought the green chile that was ordered. Looks like a nice place to eat, the food was good(but wrong) poorest service I have ever gotten!!!
