You need to get 2 orders of their Korean BBQ specials to get the cook-your-own experience. Loved the Beef Kalbi! Staff was very helpful on food recos. Side dishes were superb too!

WORST korean place i have EVER been to. came here for my birthday with mother and boyfriend. HORRIBLE, racist service. they hate anyone white and mutter under their breath. you know what’s going on. the place is expensive, uncultured. each dish is $ 35+ and they yell at you for wanting to take any side dishes home. they make you pack your own food with no matter how large the meal, with two tiny boxes and put up a fight over it if you need one more. this older woman with glasses and short pigtails served us and i kept asking about the rice and she just kept saying yes and i asked one last time, she broke eye contact with me, started yelling at my mother that she ‘tried’ to explain to ME ‘three’ times asking if i wanted rice. i felt so disrespected and honestly said, listen, i cannot understand your english, i’m sorry, and she just looked at me like i raped and pillaged her entire village before her eyes. she started screaming out loud to the other workers and immediately got on a phone to call someone over. sigh, i’m tired of this awful experience and then tip her 15% and she starts yelling all again that we all need to stop where we are and she needs to be tipped better. fucking atrocious place. i hope they get shut down and or go out of business. NOTE i just found out that they put up arguments over their side dishes because they REUSE them. DONOTGOHERE.

Customer service was excellent. Easy parking and access. Nice comfortable seating. Kalbi was marinated well and really tasty(two short ribs for $ 35, overpriced) the spicy cod stew was average at best, and the kimchee pancake was too doughy and not very tasty. Lots of banchan but everything was bland they should make just two or three dishes and made it well or bring in a banchan expert.

Boo Boo took me here for Linner. We decided to come here because Spring restaurant is dead to us. I think Spring changed cooks or something. They gave us hot tea once we got seated which was nice because it was obnoxiously cold outside. We shared the kimchi pancake and we also ordered the grilled fish and sundubu combo and I got the ‘peasant’ beef stew. The banchan that came with our meal was just ok. Nothing really stood out. My stew meat comprised mostly of tough tendony meat pieces. It tasted good but I couldn’t chew the meat. Overall there was plenty of food for 3 people. We didn’t sit at a bbq table since we didn’t get BBQ. I really enjoyed the food food since it wasn’t laced with MSG or oily. I would try the BBQ next time. I wouldn’t mind coming here again.

I wish there’s 4.5 stars. The food is great. Service is great. There’s easy parking. The only thing that stops me from giving 5 stars is the BBQ selection. They could add more food variety for BBQ. Other than that, worth going back to!

Their jangtugookbob is a must. Probably one of kind. Remarkable. Yum. I travel from Fort Lee just for this:) kimchi pancake(jeon) is also good. others is on average. Need to check out their little garden to grow their own lettuce and hot peppers.

I just had pretty good Korean BBQ and it has definitely changed my mind about Korean food. I never liked it probably because the3 times I’ve eaten it, it was not in places that was impressive to my palate(it was usually picked by friends/relatives). But Go Ba Woo changed my mind about Korean food forever! The place was full of Koreans eating there, always a good sign, it was clean and staff was courteous and attentive. A bit pricey, averages about $ 30/pp for the Korean BBQ but comes with healthy yet tasty side dishes(mostly veggies, vegan friendly). Between the bbq meat & side dishes it’s a satisfying meal. Since the food was delicious, you don’t mind the price. When you walk in, you are greeted and asked whether you’re there for the BBQ or ordering from the menu. Based on that, you’re seated in that section, yet the restaurant is laid out so you don’t feel isolated wherever you’re seated. We also ordered shrimp fried rice and a noodle dish with chicken that the waiter recommended. Both good! I would return again and highly recommend this place when you’re in the area.

Get the kalbi or Bulgogi, they both rock. Nestled in a quiet suburb of New York, in Tappan, amazingly surprised at how good everything was. The kimchi, radish and other sides were outstanding as well. Service, atmosphere were also spot on. Will definitely come back and give it a try again!

A regular place for family and I. They recently had a little makeover inside and it looks great, esp. the blue walls! Tonight we had gop chang jungol, which is beef intestine and tripe stew. I know it sounds strange but it’s very good, very spicy. Their barbecue is excellent as well, and done properly on built in grills in the table.

Quietly tucked away on the border of Bergen county and NY state, go ba woo is one of the better korean bbq joints in my opinion. It’s a fairly small restaurant, with only a handful of bbq stations and the rest just regular tables. Décor didnt really catch my eye right away, there was nothing too special about it. They do have a full bar but really nowhere to sit at the bar, but you can drink at your table. Their prices for korean bbq wasn’t outrageous, considering its technically NY. Ranges from 25 – 40 dollars depending on what kind of meat you get. Even though the price sounds steep, it comes with all the little side dishes(banchan), rice, soup, and the service of having your meat cooked in front of you. My family and I ordered 4 servings of the duck, unmarinated. I was skeptical at first because I’ve never had good duck meat, but man, this was so good. Duck meat was fatty just enough to give it flavor and very soft. Our server was battling the blasts of fire from the grill to cook it for us, but she did an amazing job despite all the grease splattering. Wrap the duck in the unlimited lettuce and scallions with some bean paste and you’re good to go. This place really set the standard for duck meat now and Im gonna have to order it more often. Their service a bit slow for the amount of people there at the time, but the food was delicious and the price was reasonable.

Probably the only Korean restaurant in this town who has the best JangTuhGookBop. Now if you don’t know what this is and if you have not eaten this type of food then you will not appreciate what I’m about the describe here. There other food items are pretty on par with other Korean restaurant. It’s good. Jangtuhgookgop is literally translated as «Market Place Soup with Rice». It has beef brisket, bean sprouts, minced garlic, lot of miso, red pepper flakes with lettuce. It is boiled and made into a stew like soup filled with flavor that comes from the meat and the miso. I did try their Pork Kalbi(this is not the pork belly BBQ) but it was dry and overcooked. The lettuce leaves were so big and tough. It’s weird and they should replace it with something smaller and less bitter. Their Octopus Stir Fry was not well prepared. I was a bit disappointed with the quality. It has no flavor and just felt like they made it in a hurry without paying attention to the required seasoning. But I shall return for JangTuhGookBOP! BAM!

Pretty good. For Rockland Korean BBQ. But honestly it does stand up to some of the Korean BBQ I’ve had in K-Town so that says a lot. If you live in Rockland or northern NJ and you’re in the mood for Korean BBQ and you don’t feel like going to the city or Fort Lee, then this is probably your best bet.

Not bad as far as Rockland County korean food goes. Good bon-chon, and a tasty selection of korean stews. I would recommend sticking with the lunch specials, as they are worth their value at $ 15 or so. Dinner can get quite expensive if you decide to go with traditional korean BBQ, but may be worth it as most of the other decent places are located either in Fort Lee or Koreatown NYC.

I’ve been to a lot of Korean restaurants. I used to travel 50 minutes to Fort Lee until I came across Go Ba Woo. I’ve been working my way through the menu and haven’t come across a bad dish yet. The service is attentive and friendly, the lunch prices are especially good.

It’s been a few years since I was last here for lunch, but my recollections are clear. I recall that there were more of the little side dish bowls brought to the table than at any Korean restaurant I had ever been to. Service was quite slow, and the dining room was busy. My entrée was a clay pot Korean seafood mix; remembered as being very good.

I am a real foodie, and have eaten a lot of Korean food, although I am not Korean… what I can tell you is the Bi Bim Bop Hot Pot is to die for. Simply speaking, the hot pot is about 1000 degrees and the rice is put in it with sesame oil, making the best version I have ever had. If you know Paella, the underside is crispy, and that is how this rice turns out. Don’t miss it! Also the seafood stew-terrific!

What more can I say, this is the Kum Gan San of Tappan! I really love their parking lot vegetable garden during summertime! Its refreshing parking next to a tomato garden and some type of melon that grows next to a utility pole.

Decent Korean BBQ being that there are not many other options to choose from within the area. We had just come back from the city and were starving for some korean food. Go Ba Woo definitely meets my expectations but I wasn’t exceedingly impressed. The service was top notch and you could tell they were doing all that they could to keep us happy. One of the ladies BBQed all of our meat until every last piece was cooked. A bus boy made sure all of our waters were filled and another guy just kept bringing us our food. The marinade for the meat was decent. Not full of flavor or as sweet as what I am accustomed to but it definitely wasn’t bland. I guess it could’ve used some more time in the marinade. The cuts were very thick and the quality was good as there were barely any remnants of fat. You get an assortment of banchan as well as the traditional steamed egg and soybean paste soup. The steamed egg needed a smidgen of salt. Without salt, it tasted like runny water. I got the kimchi jigae only because I like to order that whenever I eat at a Korean restaurant. While the portions were great, the soup just didn’t do it for me. It lacked in flavor and made up for it in saltyness. I couldn’t even finish it because I had ran out of rice. All in all this place will do the trick but with minor improvements, this place has the potential to be a lot better.
