It looks like this place is closed unfortunately, I drove by and the inside looked empty and the signs were taken down :( It’s a shame, Mimi Chicken was different from the other Korean Fried Chicken places that you might be familiar with. I loved their lunch special bulgogi, and their fried chicken with the sweet sauce was really good. Oh, and their french fries were surprisingly good and crispy too. The owners of the place were really, really nice as well. One time I had ordered some food for me and my coworkers by phone, and the couple that ran the place forgot one item. They gave us all free drinks to make up for the mistake, which based on menu price cost about as much as the item they forgot. I hope they have another location somewhere because I’ll miss this place if it’s gone forever.

After having a lengthy conversation the previous evening with a new friend we got a craving for Korean Fried Chicken. Normally, we go to Bön Chon in Fort Lee of UFC in Tenafly but it was more convenient to go to Northvale. If Mimi Chicken had been our first experience with Korean Fried Chicken we would have left scratching our heads about why Korean Fried Chicken is so great. Yes, their chicken comes out much quicker than the normal 20 – 30 minutes. We started with their tofu salad. It was great! A generous sized portion with a ton of tofu and a dressing that I will think about in the coming days. Next we shared an order, meant for 2 people, of the Half & Half. We chose half sweet sauce and half hot sauce. The wings are huge. The hot wasn’t hot enough and the sweet should have been a little more sweet. The frying just isn’t quite the same as the aforementioned competitors. The skin just isn’t quite as crunchy or shell-like as the others. Also, the wings were quite wet with sauce and very messy to eat. The wings came with good french fries and the traditional cubed radish. The place was dead empty on Saturday night at around 7:30pm. We saw no other customers and there were no take out orders or deliveries. I am not even sure if they deliver. There was nothing bad about the place but nothing special enough for a return.

4 for just lunch today — not a lot to go on but the food, Teriyaki platter — was petty tasty. Service by the owners — a little clunky, but super friendly and attentive. I’ll be back to try some of the others.

Come here and roll home all the time after stuffing my face with their super good chiken! Best fried chicken ever around Westchester. Much much better than KFC or Mc Donald!

We went to play at a nearby park and got hungry, we saw this restaurant and decided to give it a try. We ate everything and left nothing behind, it was delicious, and the owners are very friendly. They made us feel like family and let the kids watch some cartoons on their nice TV. I am looking forward to eating here again, the price is excellent.

Mimi is quite unique in the vast competition within the land of KFC. This small store front with maybe 10 tables is run but what seemed a Korean Mother and Son team. Once you sit at your table they will bring you some radish and the remote to the large flat-screen tv to watch what you’d like, which I though was nice of them. The biggest difference that makes them stand out from the other KFCs is how they cook and prepare the chicken differently from your Peck Peck/Bön Chon or Boom Boom. They do not double fry the chicken like the norm, but instead they pressure fry it which speeds up the cooking process and instills a nice crispness. They offer pretty much three standard varieties to their fried chicken. Plain, which is just that a plain un-sauced fried chicken wing that has been slightly salt and peppered. The sweet Sauce, which is a heavy sweet sauce that has many unique flavors and spices. One that stood out was cinnamon. And the Spicy and sweet which was similar to the sweet with a bit of heat at the end. The wings come in platters, the standard size being about 16 or 18 wings if I recall correctly which you can mix them up. The platters come with your choice of a side. We chose Fries. My biggest complaint is the wings are overly saucy. If you come here expecting wings similar to bon chon, peck peck or boom boom you will be sadly let down. As they are nothing like any of them. These are much much more saucy wings with much different flavor profiles. I did not get much soy/garlic. I got more notes of soy and cinnamon. My favorite wings were the simple unsauced wings. As they kept their crispness and I could just dip the crisp chicken in the sauce of my liking. All in all a nice addition to the growing world of KFC in NJ and NY. Worth checking out.

Korean Fried Chicken at it’s best. The couple that served us, I’m assuming the owners, were great. The food was awesome. I like things spicy, or so i thought. The spicy wings were hot as hell. Super crispy, super tasty, awesome chicken. The fries are awesome too.

My friend and I were originally driving through to try BBS chicken, and they closed early, having heard good things about Mimi’s we decided to give it a try. We arrived just before they closed, we were the only ones there. There’s some tables, nothing fancy. There was an HdTv, being theonly ones there, they actually gave us the remote. It was very nice of them, we left it on the game though, were all about that chicken, no time for tv! Lol. They did appear to serve beer, we stuck w soda to(cans). There was also Snapple in a fridge case. Its run by an older woman and her son. We love these kinda places that are small family affairs that really specialize in going all out with the wings. If you are a large group, go ore takeout, if you eat in, call ahead, it takes a few minutes to make, but NOT as long as bonchon. I would say this is a good shot if you have fussy eaters, ESP kids, because they have the option of plain American style flavor AND Korean style. We ordered 16 pieces mixed, half plain fried and half sweet, fries, and shrimp dumplings. The owner was quick bringing out dishes and seperate sauces and stuff, one a spicy BBQ sauce which was pretty tasty, and one that seemed more of a soy base. The dumplings were pretty good. They were crispy fried and not salty at all and the sauce was a good compliment, ESP w a little of the spicy sauce. The wings were definitely not the usual I am used to seeing in these restaurants. I am used to seeing the bonchon style double fry, but apparently this place uses the old fashioned pressure fries. Regardless of not being like the other joints, finding pressure fried chicken done right is still a nice gem on its own! Lol. The plain was good. Salt and peppery but not spicy, not heavily battered, VERY crispy, so good and still hands down better then what you would get at an American chain place. This really makes me wonder why is KFC so popular in Asia? Why? The«sweet sauce chicken» was definitely sweet… slightly cinnamon… def different then what I’m used to, still yummy though. I preferred the plain in the end because after more then a couple the suce got a little heavy and a lot of sloppy, however stayed crispy. The fried were good and crisp. Of course this came with the standard daikon radish bonchon. Aside from the initial surprise at us asking for chopsticks and specifically asking for«tong dak», which we can’t help but laugh at every time, and it happens often, was very attententive and on point, one of the many reasons we just love these kinda places. We’d definitely make this a regular stop if it were more local to us. My only suggestion would be wanting to try the chicken with a soy garlic Sauce. All of these places have their own twists and flavors on this one, ultimately with me the classic soy garlic sauces are perfection to mw. Lol. Just add a little chilli sauce and good to go. Overall my favorite is still PeckPeck Chicken in Teaneck, NJ, any fan of Korean«BonChon style» wings should check them out sometime. Its a drive from Tappan, but Korean wings are always worth the trip, and you always know none will be 100% the same. :D

Yeah, this is great freakin chicken. It has the feel of a chinese restaurant, but it’s fried chicken? Yeah, I got the fried chicken and french fries, nice and simple. I placed my order and was told ’10 minutes’. I watched a little tv on their nice big flat screen and waited. I was presented with a lovely pâté of mondo crunchy wings — 2 and drum sticks — 2 with some traditional fries and a mixed green salad(all on one plate). Chicken was plump and yummy crunchy. Excellent sweet dipping sauce, but not a plain jane sauce. It has some flare. Mind you this is coming from a person who really doesn’t wings(just not my thing). These were very, very good. I’m going back to get a take home order of grilled chicken(25 minute wait). Eat Here, you’ll be glad you did.

I love this place. The owners are super friendly and the wings are fantastic, especially the spicy flavors. If you eat in they have a flat screen and they give you the remote so you can watch what you want. I wish they were open 24hrs…

I usually get skin trouble whenever I eat fried chicken. However, when I had Mimi’s, I did not have any skin trouble. I knew this when they brough me a dish. The color of chicken was light meaning they are using the fresh oil. The taste was really good. It definitely is a homemade — comparable to greasy, oily, and unhealthy typical fastfood fried chicken establishments. Their spicy sauce was hot, but it is so addicting that I am now drooling as I write this. BTW, they sell beer as well. If you are craving beer and chicken, give them a shot.

The BEST grilled wings i have tasted so far. The wings take 25 min to make but they are so worth is. Large and meaty you had better come hungry. Mimi’s is a good olé Korean style Fried chicken wing spot. But they also have grilled wings. But thats not all they have beef bulgolgi and pork bulgolgi which is meat stir fried with vegtables. Orders come with a really good portion of Korean Fried Rice. Not greasy at all and a small seseme dressing salad. And its not iceburg lettuce!!! The Curry chicken or Curry Pork Cutlet is also very tasty. lots of potatoes and carrots in the curry sauce that can be on top of the meat or on the side. Also since it is a korean restaurant you will get sides while you wait all home made by the owner. Some Kim chi which is fermented cabbage in a red pepper sauce homemaid. Some sweet and sour fermented radishes which are my favorite. The owner is very sweet. Drinks are reasonable priced as well. They also have beer as well. not a huge variety but more to come. Business is a lil slow since no one knows about this place. So please try some really good fried or grilled chicken wings. You will not be disappointed. HDTV is included with you meal just use the remote and pick what you want to watch.
