Just ordered a Greek Salad for 2 and an extra that no one wants. NASTYHAIR. Drove all the way back and they replaced it. The replacement was the worst Greek Salad I have ever gotten from there, very little lettuce next to no feta and not dressed… Very disappointed

Gyro was really good. The Greek chow Mein was just ok. Service was excellent, our waitress was attentive and thoughtful. She made little adjustments like splitting our milk orders for the kids to make sure we didn’t over order.

We were in the Sponge Docks looking for a place outside the actual docks for lunch. I tend to stay away from restaurants that cat call for business. I checked on Unilocal and noticed the great reviews so naturally I gravitated towards it. Since the name is Mr. Souvlaki I ordered the chicken Souvlaki sandwich and the husband ordered the Soutzouki sandwich. My Souvlaki chicken was cooked and seasoned well. The meat was moist and juicy and the sandwich had all the typical fixings like onions, tomatoes, and tatsiki sauce. I enjoyed my sandwich. The Mr. However was thoroughly disappointed with his. Imagine a pita sandwich with hamburger patties. I think he was expecting more of a kefta sandwich. I tried it myself and it pretty much tasted like hamburger doused with tatsiki in a pita bread. Nothing special about it at all. We also ordered some onion rings which were tasty but you can tell it’s the frozen ore ida bag from a warehouse club. All in all it was nothing special. The décor is nice and clean with a bar and a tv. The server was sweet but we probably would not be back especially when thee are other more impressive places to eat Greek in the area like Hellas.

You don’t go to Mr. Souvlaki for an upscale or unique dining atmosphere. The place has your standard restaurant feel that could be anything from a Denny’s to O’Charley’s. No, you go here because they have the best damn Gyro you will ever eat. For the unacquainted, Tarpon Springs is kind of the Greek food mecca of Florida. There are a ton of really awesome restaurants in this area, and Mr. Souvlaki has the best Gyro of the bunch.

Mr. Souvlaki was outstanding. For reference, I am Greek and have eaten at every spot on the docks. Many are excellent but the food, favor, quality and service were absolutely top notch. The bread was fresh and the Greek salad had a nice assortment of veggies and then came the chicken chow mein which was outrageously good — not to mention after ordering a full order, I will have it for lunch today. Further the service was so good, attentive, and polite that it made the whole experience perfect. Btw, their rice pudding is legit. All in all, a true 5 star.

This is the place you go to get the best authentic Greek food in town. We’ve been coming here for years. They are famous for their Greek salad with potato salad in the middle and their Greek chow mein. The inside scoop is it’s off the main strip in Tarpon with all of the touristy restaurants, and half of their ridiculously priced dinners. Mr Souvlaki doesn’t have the gaudy decorations and flaunting service it just has the best authentic food at the best prices. Highly recommended and five stars.

The Greek chow mein is amazing! The dining room can be pretty crowded as it is not very large and the tables are tightly packed in, but they do to-go orders very well. Greek salads here are great also.

I should start by saying that I am Greek and have high standards. But anyone who has had good souvlaki should recognize that the souvlaki here is terrible. Dry and lacking flavor. And it’s really hard to mess up this dish. The spanakopita was better and very generous however the ratio of filling to phyllo was way off. Tons of filling and way too little phyllo, plus it was not crispy enough. The octopus was mediocre; somewhat overdone and lacking flavor. Service was nice but ambience was sterile and lacking, which is inexcusable for a Greek restaurant. Overall this meal was very disappointing and quite a rip off for the high price. I’ll never return here.

Favorite place for Greek food hands down! As others have said, you MUST try the Greek chow mein(half order is plenty big). I recommend it with gyro meat while my husband prefers the pork. Can’t go wrong with a gyro or Greek salad either. The service can be a little slow but it’s worth it!

This place needs a new name, and not Mr. Souvlaki. It should be called Mr. Greek Chow Mein. Their t-shirts say known for Greek Chow Mein. I agree. It is really good. Their Souvlaki, on the other hand, is dry, so dry, not flavorful. Definitely, it didn’t have the flavor that I loved of souvlaki. So, don’t think of this as the souvlaki place. Think of it as the Greek Chow Mein place. The whole family will chow on one plate. It’s so huge. I also ordered a Greek salad, but I haven’t had it yet. It looks so big with lots of stuff on top. Can’t wait. I wish I was able to get the saganaki. Everyone in the restaurant did, but I was doing take out.

I drove 40 miles to get here from Tampa for dinner. That’s right. Is Greek food worth that much of a drive. Probably not but when locals swear to a place like this as Guy Fieri swears to EVERY restaurant from the Triple D show, then how could I NOT jump into my mini van and head straight to the heart of the Florida Greek community to try this killer legit Greek food? I was warned that their portions were outrageously large in portion size. Yay! Old school! Thus as a favor to all of my friends at the table, I ordered the Poikilia dinner which had three kinds of meat(gyro, sausage, and soutzouki) plus pita bread and tzatziki on the side. I kind of knew that I was ordering something large since it was $ 26 but when it came out, wow!!! It was a beautiful stacked plate of meat with feta cheese and tomatoes and onions on the bottom. Perfect for my gluten free preferences, I ate and shared more than half of the meat and saved the rest for the next day’s breakfast. This restaurant seemed family owned as we got attentive service all night long with water and tea refills. We tipped 20% either because we were happy or due to our collective food comas. I just hope Guy Fieri’s show doesn’t end up coming here.

Cute little Greek place with a very friendly staff. I had a gyro pita, and it was very tasty. The gyro meat was well seasoned. The tzatziki was delightfully garlicky. It was excellent. Why only 4 stars? According to our waitress(who worked there 20+ years), the avgolemono soup has a cream base. My understanding is that avgolemono’s creaminess comes from the slow cooked rice breaking down as well as the beaten egg. There shouldn’t be a milk product in the soup!

This is one of my most favorite Greek Restaurant — not that I go to many(being a vegetarian, sometimes finding meatless food in Greek restaurants aren’t easy). I always order their Tzatziki, pita and their Greek Chowmein(vegetarian). Their Tzatziki is THEBEST — the flavor and the little hint of spiciness makes it amazing. And their Pita and Greek Chowmein, with Tzatziki feels heavenly. Their Service and cleanliness is not bad. Overall, a NICE restaurant. Well, like they say, Go Greek once a week!!!

The food and the portions are great, while the service was a little slow. We got there at 7pm on a Saturday. The restaurant was full but we were sat quickly… next to a table of elderly Greek couples! The Chow Mein might be the best Greek dish I’ve ever had, and the saganaki had good flavor and texture. We got an order of baklava to go. The filo dough was a liitle mushy, but the flavor was amazing. Prices were reasonable, too.

Food was very good, service was dreadful. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm and were promptly seated by a waitress. Although she had menus in her hand, she did not leave us one. A few moments later, another waitress came by and asked us if we were ready to order. We explained we didn’t have menus and she said she’d go get us some. Off she wandered. A few minutes after that, a male waiter came by and asked us if we’d like to order. We mentioned that we didn’t have menus but that someone was by and said she’d bring us some. When we looked around to find her, she was in the servers area, pouring someone some drinks. The male waiter went and got them and returned immediately. He took our drink order and when he returned, took our food order. We both had the Gyros meal… it was very good but a tad on the oily side. Tzatziki is made with sour cream, not yogurt, but it was excellent and very garlicky. Would I return… food was decent, service pretty disappointing, so most likely not.

The Gyro Chow Mein here is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. All of the flavors blend together perfectly. The gyro meat is almost like a meatloaf texture, very soft. The peppers and onions melt in your mouth and the rice is cooked to perfection. The red sauce and hint of feta give it that little extra sweet and tangy flavor. The portions are huge, so get a half portion! Staff are super friendly and attentive! We will be back!

Let’s cut to the chase, shall we? Order the Greek Chow Mein dish. It’s unique, filling, re-heats well, and let’s face it: it’s Heaven in the guise of food. The lethal combination: sauteed peppers & onions, shredded feta cheese, & rice pilaf topped with your choice of meat. I highly-suggest the gyro meat. and when/if ordering, don’t make a fool of yourself & pronounce the ‘g’ in gyro(it’s silent), your welcome, and bon appétit! PS — wear loose clothing. they serve up the Greek Chow Mein in gut-busting portions.

Ehhhhhhhh. I had high hopes for this place, but it just wasn’t fantastic. It was good, but not as good as I had hoped. Pros: the gyros and saganaki(flaming cheese) were plentiful and delicious and I liked how they put chickpeas in the Greek salad. My friend enjoyed her chicken souvlaki. Cons: our waitress was out of it. Her timing was way off, bringing out our food one at a time and out of order; and the Greek salad was pretty bland(the potato salad was missing something) Overall, i would probably return, but there are other Greek places that I would recommend before Mr. Souvlaki
