Visited on a Sunday evening during Spring Break to pick up appetizers we could take to Howard Park. Based on the server’s recommendation, we chose feta, olives, peppers and pita, red pepper hummus and spanakopita. One serving of spanakopita was large enough to serve four– it was absolutely delicious. Surprisingly, our favorite dish was the fresh feta, olives and peppers which was served with a side of tzatziki sauce. It took about 5 minutes from the time we ordered until the to-go order arrived. Highly recommended. Next time we will dine in :)

I really liked Parthenon! I swear it was one of my best meals all week since I haven’t been feeling well. We ordered a few appetizers including saganaki, calamari, and broiled octopus. Of course the saganaki and Octopus was the best. We also ordered gyros, pork souvlaki, and a fried cod fish sandwich. My order was the pork souvlaki! It was really good. The tzatiki sauce stood out as different than I have had at other places. Our service was impeccable. Our server was very cheerful. The owner was cheerfully inviting people in for lunch or dinner! He was really nice and funny too. We can’t help but be happy that this restaurant is dog friendly, and nicely shaded! This is a fun Greek Choice on the Sponge Docks right next to the Sponge Exchange and across the street from the Sponge boats on the water.

It’s also a great place to go if you have you dog with you. Lots of shaded outdoor seating. Staff is great.

I have to admit, I tried this place reluctantly. I was pleasantly surprised! The portions are HUGE! Definitely plan for leftovers. I had a Greek salad– huge and delicious! We ordered the tziki(sp?) with pita as an appetizer– YUM! My husband had the spanikopita– which is a cheese and spinach mix wrapped in FILO dough– came with French fries and feta cheese. He loved it! Will be back to try their baklava next time I’m in Tarpon Springs, as we had NO room for dessert this time! Staff was very friendly, also.

A bright and cheerful atmosphere. The gyros are some of the best served open face. But a must have is the Avegolemono Soup aka Chicken soup with lemon. Each time our server has been friendly and knows the menu well. Today our server Brett could not have made us feel more like family. If you want a cold sterile atmosphere and service this is not the place for you. The Greek coffee is so good that even though I don’t drink coffee after 11 am I had two!

We came here after an awful experience at Plaka a couple doors down. The service is absolutely impeccable. Everyone is so friendly. The portions are large and wonderfully fresh. We visit family in the area every couple years and always spend a day at the sponge docks. Eating at Partenon will now be a must every time we visit.

Tried this place for dinner. The menu is a little thin, and seems heavy on sandwiches and such. We had the souvlaki platter with chicken skewers, flat bread, and«greek» fries. The portions were very large, and the food was quite tasty. We also had the strawberry sangria, which was nicely made. The service was excellent — Trent did a great job. The prices were maybe a little on the high side, but not bad considering this is a real touristy area. All in all, I would definitely go back again.

Very disappointed in the selections! We asked for an assortment platter and we each got a plate with three pieces of spinach pie… We felt ripped off. Will never go back!

We decided to head over to Tarpon to enjoy an afternoon strolling the shops and enjoying some good Greek food. We like to try a different place every time and today we decided on the Parthenon. The owner greeted us at the door while we were peering at the menu displayed outside. When I mentioned that I was very interested in the lamb shank special, but that I was allergic to wheat and could not eat the pasta it comes with, he said I could choose any side I wanted to replace it, no problem :) My daughter and I shared the lamb, which was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. The waiter brought me a plate with rice, Greek style green beans, a roasted quarter potato in olive oil and seasonings, and an orange quarter as a replacement for the pasta. Every single thing on my plate was divine! My husband ordered the dolematas(stuffed grape leaves) and enjoyed them as well. The food did take a while to come out, but was well worth the wait. The atmosphere was pleasant, so waiting on the food was not an issue for us. They did bring bread out right after we ordered, but my daughter and I cannot eat wheat, so hubby got to have the whole bread basket. Our drinks never went empty and our waiter was pleasantly chatty without being obnoxious or overbearing. We felt welcomed and accommodated. I would go back to the Parthenon in a heartbeat, I only wish I could sample some of the amazing looking desserts in the bakery display!

We have been by this place hundreds of times and had no idea it was here. It just blends in with everything else. I must say the place was very clean. The service was outstanding and the food was great. I ordered the Pork Sauvlaki. It was cooked to perfection. Great fresh taste. The others in our party were very pleased with their meals. This is a nice quant place. Why fight the crowds at the other places. This is my destination from now on when I want great Greek food.

Every year, when we go to Florida, my husband and I visit Tarpon Springs, and every year, we have to eat Greek food at the Parthenon. I ate here for the first time a few years ago, and since then, I have to go back every year on vacation. The service is good — everyone is so friendly and they do a great job of making sure their customers are satisfied. I’ve never had a bad meal there, nor a bad service experience. I always get the tzatziki appetizer, and even though they don’t give you a lot of pita bread, they bring you lots of regular bread to keep eating it up… this is one of my favorite dishes! My husband always gets a gyro and he says that without fail, the lamb is always amazing. I always get the Greek Salad — some may think it’s just a salad, but underneath the salad is a generous scoop of warm potato salad … if you don’t expect it, it’s a really pleasant surprise! You get to the bottom and all that creamy warm potato salad mixes with the Greek dressing for an amazing combo. Yumm! Their pastries are also yummy … I wish there was a place like this in NJ — I would eat there once a week!

I came here with friends this past weekend. It was the night of a Greek themed festival throughout Tarpon Springs sponge docks so it was very busy everywhere. Overall I thought this place had decent food and horrible service. I don’t know whether to chalk it up to the festival, just our waiter or if it is always like this. Food: We all shared the trio of spreads(hummus, feta, tzatiki) as an appetizer. The spreads themselves were delicious! The downside was they only gave very few pieces of pita to eat it with… almost to the point or ridiculousness. A friend asked for more pita but it didn’t come out until the end of our meals which at that point we were already full and didn’t eat the pita. Surprise, surprise when the bill came they had charged extra for the pitas. What a scam! The waiter of course mentioned nothing to us but the whole idea that they give you so little and then charge you for enough to eat the plate is crazy. After some complaining our waiter was able to remove the charge for the extra pitas as we did not eat them. Just a warning to you! I think everyone at our tables enjoyed their entrees but no one was going crazy over the top for what they ate. Service: Our waiter was horrible! At first I thought it was just busy and was patient but he was so rude I could not overlook it all night. First it took forever for anyone to greet us. The waiter wanted to know what we wanted to drink and started firing off at us as if we didn’t answer fast enough the place would burn down. As there was no drink menu we were not sure what was offered. When we asked for a wine menu he looked at us like we were crazy and quickly rattled off a few drinks. I had wanted a drink besides water but he had rushed us so much I never got a chance to order. When he came back he threw the drinks down and then ran off again. Once again not giving me a change to order a drink. When he came back to take our entrée orders it was the same thing. Don’t even think about asking this guy a menu question. Never got a chance to order a drink then and a salad a friend and I planned on splitting never got ordered because he rushed off before we could finish. He never came back once to refill drinks or ask us if we wanted anything. He never came to deliver the food, someone else did. He never checked on us at all. He brought out the bills and then rushed us out of his table. We still had a few people finishing food and drinks and after we paid he came by again and said goodnight again. Apparently, we took that as our cue to leave. Overall I would eat here again if a friend suggested it. Hopefully the waiter was not typical of their service. However, I would not be in a rush to come here either. With so many choices nearby I know there are better options at the sponge docks.
