This is a fancy restaurant inside the Doubletree. It’s mostly for older people. However, the ambience is very nice. The calamari was really nicely seasoned and had some Parmesan cheese on it, which I thought was unique and a nice touch. The ravioli was a little odd; the sauce was a little too buttery to my liking and the filling was so-so. The entrée portions were decently sized for the price. We got the chicken breast and salmon and both were cooked to perfection, as they were still moist on the inside. However, the potatoes had a weird lemon flavoring added to them. In our opinion, that ruined them. All in all, the service was friendly and exceeded our expectations.

Lunch was delicious. I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Even though there were numerous conferences in the hotel at the same time the service was very quick from seating to food service to getting the bill. The atmosphere is always clean and comfortable.

Bought a $ 95 Groupon 3 course meal for 4 people. The service was on point, the food was great. And all I had to pay beyond the Groupon was a generous tip. We all had a form of soup, steak, wine, and 2 desserts! The lobby was beautiful on Christmas day. What more can a person ask for. Just made our Christmas day!

Bistro Z is the restaurant inside the Tarrytown Doubletree. It had been years since I’d eaten there when a Groupon offer convinced us to give their lunch a try; it was a mixed experience. On the one hand starters of fresh goat cheese filled pasta and calamari fritti were both well executed, but the same could not really be said for mains of pan seared salmon, which like it’s accompanying«baby» potatoes gave evidence of having initially been cooked on another date, and Parmesan gnocchi, which were doughy. The host who greeted us when we entered had been replaced by another when we left, but neither they nor anyone else seemed to be supervising the moderately busy dining room. The staff who served us were courteous, but detached; no one inquired about the uneaten gnocchi or any other dish and although we were initially asked about beverage preferences, no drink card or wine list was visible. The space is accessible, as are the facilities, which are down the hall among other hotel amenities, although that would not be apparent unless you happened to know the layout from previous experience.

Our second visit to Bistro Z. * Food is delivered late or cold * Steaks are delivered overdone(well vs. medium) or underdone(rare vs. medium), but never right(twice). * Wait staff, though accommodating, attitude seems«frustrated» from the start. Sighs are audible. On our second visit, I ordered Baked Brie as an appetizer. When delivered, nice presentation. But, it was cold. Baked brie should not be served with a chill. I told our waiter, who apologized, and took the dish back for replacement. Meanwhile, my wife was left waiting, having already finished her appetizer. On second delivery of a brand new Baked Brie presentation: Exactly the same. Slightly warm on the edges. Cold in the middle. I rejected this a second time. I asked for a Caesar Salad as a replacement. Meanwhile, my wife was left waiting even longer. The Caesar Salad was acceptable, but really without note and unworthy of $ 8. I was eating in a hurry now. For my entrée, I ordered the strip steak, done Medium. When, finally, delivered — it was Rare and Cold. Not only that, the meat was extremely tough. It was all I could do to cut a piece to eat. My wife and I noticed other folks who ordered the same steak who were really applying strong effort to cut their own. My wife ordered the Chilean Sea Bass«Chilean Sea Bass w/Braised Fennel, Purple Potatoes, Butternut Squash in a Lavender Honey & Truffle Oil Broth.» It was delivered DRY on a plate and without the Lavender Honey & Truffle Broth as it was listed. She asked the waiter, who said, «Yes, it’s a new recipe.» At this point, We were, both, completely disgusted with the entire experience. I could have very easily sent my steak back for another, since it was bloody red and cold, though ordered Medium. My wife could have done the same. But, we declined to do so, since we were already at more than 90 minutes into this bad experience. We just gave up and struggled through to get away. We will never return to Bistro Z.

Have been coming here using Groupon and wait staff never treats us differently. Food is consistently good. Sometimes excellent, like Parmesan Gnocchi mentioned below. Steaks are great also. I recommend ordering meat over fish. The Lamb Shank, Beef Tenderloin and Grilled Shrimp, Kansas City Strip were all excellent. For the vegetarians Parmesan Gnocchi was amazing. Fish is good also, it’s just that the chefs here do steaks and gnocchi better. It’s a place you always look forward to going back. PROS: Pretty good food. Super rich chocolate dessert Nice and friendly wait staff Easy and ample parking Nice décor(maybe a tad outdated) Nice entrance(to the hotel) Incredible deal with Groupon CONS: If paid full price it’s not cheap. 1 star off for that… sorry… I feel really bad. Wait for good deals on Groupon.

Excellent! The appetizers at Bistro Z are large enough to make a meal! Try the baked brie with lingonberries or the fresh pasta. Orders are served with warm, crusty bread and friendly service. They are open until 11 pm on weekends and will not rush you out.

The food was delicious! Not only was the presentation scrumptious, but the food was also. The only thing I didn’t like was the gravy on my steak, but other than that it was made perfectly. I

I just tried the place with a great deal from Groupon. I was nicely surprised to find such nice restaurant located in the Doubletree hotel. I tried their beet ravioli which was unusual but surprisingly tasty. The Rack of Lamb was cooked to perfection and the chocolate soufflé was delicious. Unfortunately the service was a bit disappointing at first. We went out for a late dinner and perhaps the staff was already tired. They tried to make it up along the way. I give them credit for the effort. I noticed a great outdoor seating area. I will definitely go back to enjoy their outdoors before the summer is over.

I got to know this hotel restaurant from group on. I purchased a voucher and went Bistro Z with my family in Tarrytown. It wasnt easy to find restaurent, cause it was hidden inside the hotel. It actually located near the lobby. Before we get there, we read the review and many ppl said it was good so we tried but we didnt like it at all. Restaurant was very calm and casual type of american restaurant. Service was very slow(two servers at dinner time) and dishes are very salty. we ordered steaks and pasta. meat was not tender nor juicy. it was dried and hard to chew. Shrimp Skewer was good. Fresh shrimp but it was salt bomb. drinked 3cups that night. pasta was very dry and no flavor. i asked more sause and it took 20min. i was already finished. I probably got upset if i paid in full. over all price was expensive eventho i used groupon. it wasnt a good experienced and not recommended to anyone.

Went here with a groupon and it was a very pleasant surprise. The restaurant(inside the Tarrytown Doubletree Hotel) is small and plain and honestly I did not expect much, but I was really impressed by presentation, delicious food and friendly service! Bistro is a misnomer, because the food level was fine dining. The wine list wasn’t bad either. All in all, an excellent dining experience and I will definitely return.

Really nice restaurant in the Doubletree hotel. You wouldn’t expect this level of quality at a hotel restaurant. We had a great time. I started with the Caesar salad, he had mixed greens. For dinner I had the lamb shank and it was incredible! I was so surprised at how good it was, and how much there was. I wound up taking a lot of it home. He had the NY Strip Steak, and it was prepared perfectly. Service was great. We had coffee but no dessert because we were so full. Our waitress was lovely, very personable, made sure we had everything we needed and certainly made us feel welcome. There was a tool at the next table bitching because the restaurant policy is 30% off a bottle of wine but they don’t combine with other discounts. He was using a groupon and caused such a stink that he did get his discount. Honestly, he was the only unpleasant part of the meal. I think he was showing off for his date and if she were impressed by his lack of tact and manners, she deserves him. The guy wasn’t young, probably in his 50s or 60s, and to be acting that was was beyond classless. He was mean to the young(and very competent) waitress. Ugh. I’m guessing he has the world’s smallest…

We chose this as our pick for restaurant week mostly bc we dont usaually go into tarrytown. We were pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is located inside the Double Tree hotel. The aesthetics are simple and modern and clean. For our first courses we ordered the lobster bisque, the smoked salmon and dill and the charcuterie. The lobster bisque hands down was best. Creamy thick and flavorful. The others were ok. Main course was tuna steaks served asian style, roasted duck w quinoa and pork chop w sweet potato hash. Everything was very good. First of all the portions were huge, especially for restaurant week. And the menu was different from so many other participants so thats mainly why we ventured there. I cant say anything bad about any of our entrees. My duck was perfect. Crispy and tender and perfectly medium rare. There was nothing inventive about my dish but if ur gonna serve traditional duck breast this is how. We were all full and satisfied w leftovers. Dessert was orange crème brûlée and the deconstructed smore. The crème brûlée was lovely w a nice hint of orange. The smore was dry. Overall good experience. Very kind and attentive staff from servers to host to bartender. I would go back. Four stars for the generous portion during restaurant week.

I came here for Hudson Valley restaurant week 2015 and do not recommend it. There are specials that lower the prices even on regular days so the 29.95 restaurant week dinner was not any special deal. The food was simply uninspired. The presentation was great but the taste seemed like everything had come out of a can or the freezer. The crab and lobster bisque was overwhelmingly tomato flavored. The tuna steak was served swimming in a tomato sauce as well. There was nothing Nutella about the Nutella bread pudding except for a streak of Nutella on the plate. The bread pudding itself was tough and crusty rather than smooth.

«A beautifully presented experience tarnished by awkward choices.» The restaurant itself is tucked into the Double Tree hotel in Tarrytown, as their main food venue for their guests. It has a nice quiet atmosphere with a partition to block the foot traffic of the hotel’s hallway. Unfortunately I found the music playing distracting as it was mostly top 40 hits from various years(Hoobastank doesn’t quite jive with an expensive night out). Service was great, with each course well paced. The food itself is where I take most of my issue. Each meal we had were all almost great. I began with the Trio of Baby Beet Salad. The tarragon vinaigrette paired beautifully with the beet slices, but having a plate full of Frisee with no larger leafed greens was a bit awkward to eat. For the main course I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass which was cooked well with a crispy skin and nice texture. Downside was that the bass itself came across as bland. The vegetable bed it sat upon on the other had was a beautifully tender assortment, and the lavender honey a subtle but much appreciated note of flavor My dining companion was of similar opinion of her meal; Lobster Bisque Soup, Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail, finishing with the Beef Tenderloin & Grilled Shrimp. While very nice, and well made, it lacked the final level of finesse I personally look for when spending this much on dinner. Thankfully we had a coupon which took our meal down from $ 120 to $ 70. I am willing to give this place another go, just not without a similar coupon.

This restaurant is friendly and inviting on the outside, but I wish i could say the same for the food and the experience. We went to Bistro Z recently on a Sunday for brunch and we were seated quickly. And then the waiting game began… it took close to 10 minutes for our server to come to our table. And when she came over, the first thing she said was«I’ll be right back.» After more waiting, she returned. To say she was not friendly is an understatement. We finally ordered and waited 30 minutes — during which time we never got bread or water — for the food. We noticed green mold on the bread of the steak sandwich, and after such a long wait we had enough. As you can imagine, we were all annoyed. We got the check and went somewhere else for brunch. Bistro Z is not set up for brunch.

I’m going to have to give this 5 rather than 4 because they don’t have 4.5 option and 4 would be too low. I came here on a group on like many others. I had the NY Strip Medium Rare and it was cooked wonderfully. I was delicious!!! The side of the mash was a bit basic/bland. The lobster ravioli stater was really good as well. My wife enjoyed the french onion soup but we were both surprised by the lamb which she order medium but came out rare. Don’t know how that happened, but the staff responded very well to it and the manager(or what appeared to be the manager) came to us very apologetically and allow my wife to get an alternative dish complimentary and made sure a new order of the lamb was made correctly. This place gets 4.5 stars for that and I will definitely be returning with out a group on to try some of the other entrees.

Had a great experience here. I’m always a bit apprehensive with hotel restaurants but bistro z has changed my opinion. For starters, I got the lobster ravioli. For 9 dollars, it was well worth it. Presentation was great and there were huge chunks of lobster. For my main course, Chilean Sea Bass. Perfect temperature and everything melted in your mouth — delicious! Overall, I would definitely return! Service, ambience(we sat outside) and food was well worth it and above our expectations!

Bistro Z is a restaurant that is located on the Hotel Double Tree of Tarrytown; they have a great deal on Groupon. For 2 people 40 $ two STARTERS, two ENTRÉE and one DESSERTS. If you go in the summer, you should take advantage and sit on the outside of restaurant. For the starters we order the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail that is a Traditional Cocktail with Sauce, Lemon & Fresh Horseradish. The App was very delicious the wild shrimp cooked until tender, peeled, deveined and chilled. Served with our zesty House cocktail sauce and lemon wedges. I love the flavor when I dip the shrimp on the sauce. For my entrée a had the Grilled New York Strip Steak with some yukon mashed potato, a little seasonal vegetables & crispy fried onions on the top. The 12oz steak was cooked perfectly and the mesa sauce with it was a perfect compliment. My sister had the Pan Seared Salmon with some sautéed spinach & kales, lemon some scented baby potatoes and citrus vinaigrette the salmon had a good taste my sister love the taste of it. The portion was not that big, but it will satisfy your stomach. For our dessert we share the Strawberry Rhubarb Cheese Cake, we did not liked it because had a funny taste.
