Grape Expectations

I like everything about this lovely and intimate shop. Great selection of wine from around the world at any price range. Friendly (but not too friendly for us City folk) staff. And I am thankful they stock a ton of rosé as summer is still in town.

Always working in high end restaurants, I’ve drank some pretty good wine. Whenever I’m in Tarrytown I visit Grape Expectations, (btw love the name). Nothing makes me happier than seeing Jairo when I walk through the door. He has always given AMAZING selections within my current budget. (Working in restaurants means a various budget.) Even more important than a great wine selection is customer service. I’ve never met a friendlier staff! Jairo is always there for me with open arms. Going to Grape Expectations is like visiting home :) keep up the great work guys!

Love this place! Just walking into the store is a whole new experience on its own, he set up is amazing. The staff is friendly and they have plenty of wines to choose from. Tons of in and out of the box wines. And if you need a recommendation for your dinner or as a guest, don’t hesitate to ask the staff, they are always on point! On the weekends they have wine tastings as well which is also a bonus!

To be honest, I hardly know anything about wine. I’ll come to Grape Expectations randomly and grab a bottle of wine for dinner, or stock of on booze for a party or something. Their prices are average for the area (which is to say you can probably get stuff cheaper outside of Tarrytown). It’s my local liquor store, so I hold it close to my heard… so when I needed to get something really extravagant for my father’s 60^th birthday, this was a natural place to start.
My father’s a big time tequila drinker and I wanted to find something that would knock his socks off, so I asked the staff at GE what they knew and they were honest that tequila’s not necessarily their area of expertise. However, they took my information and then a day later I got a call from them that they had done some research, found out about a rare, but extremely well reviewed bottle that they could get shortly. They then called me when it arrived just the next day, and when I picked it up, they had printed out some information and tasting notes on it. And the most important thing is that it passed the «father test.»
The customer service here is amazing, and the staff is great!

Great local wine store. Have been going to be the past 4 years and have never had a bad experience. They have a great selection and the staff is always very nice and make good recommendations for all prices ranges. I have found great cheap wines here with the help of the staff and sometimes with some blind luck!

Best wine store in the area. Great selection of small vineyard wines, fair prices and friendly, knowledgeable staff. Plus the owner is a former standup comic. The comedy circuits loss is our gain. I always leave with a smile. What more does anyone need?

Grape Expectations began with a unique system of porthole-​like shelving that guides customers by dividing the wines by style.
For example: the Full and Spicy section includes American Zinfandel and Australian Shiraz;
Bubbly holds Spanish Cava and Italian Prosecco, as well as Champagne;
Crisp and Refreshing houses both New Zealand and French Sauvignon Blanc and so forth.
A shoppers delight. Makes choosing wines for home use easy and learning about new wines a breeze.
