Springhill Suites Tarrytown

I stay at this hotel frequently. It’s easy to get to off the highway, the hotel is always clean, and rooms are kept up nicely. The staff here are great. By my third visit (which is once a month for me), the staff knew who I was, greet me all the time during my passing by. Excellent and that makes for a pleasant welcome and stay.
The TV’s can be a pain. Due to the box mounted on them channel selection is a pain. You can connect external HDMI to the TV, but you need to know the trick. This just isn’t this hotel but any that use the MyCommand system. Simply disconnect the data cable in the back of the TV and you are in business.
I have seen some of the reviews for the WiFi, yes it’s slow for the base WiFi. I’m a Gold Elite with Marriott so I get the free upgrade. Big difference in connectivity. If not a Gold member it is $ 6.95. Depending on your usage it’s your call.
Recommend this hotel very highly. I’m on the road for two weeks a month and I make sure one of those stays is here.

Let’s break it down for you guys:
Location: perfect for a weekend getaway. Nice views from top rooms. Shopping area nearby, restaurants, quiet area. Free parking.
Food: Free breakfast which was decent. They also have a mini-​mart on the premises. Free coffee n awesome fruit infused water in the lobby as well as free fruit. There is also a bar in the lobby which hosts daily happy hour specials.
Rooms: nicely setup with kitchenette and mini living room which also included sofa bed. There is a microwave and mini fridge. Everything is super clean and organized. Flat screen TV, iHome alarm clock radio with aux cord.
Service: staff was very friendly and helpful.
Pros: Everything was great when we got there and overall it’s a decent bargain.
Cons: not a big deal for some, however, could be a big deal for techies, or those traveling for business.
1.HDMI and vga ports were inaccessible and blocked by the hotel. Basically, you can hook up your laptop to the screen or watch your Netflix.
2. On Demand movies were way over priced at $ 18 or more AND
3.TV resolution was horrible.
Who would pay 18 dollars to watch a fuzzy movie?
Movies are big deal for us so unfortunately we will not be returning to this hotel. Hope this review is helpful!

We had a pretty decent stay here. Everything was relatively clean and everything worked. I did find a few hairs on my bed that didn’t belong to me but it was not such a big deal. The room was very spacious and the front desk was pretty friendly. Breakfast was OK and I was glad it was free because I wouldn’t have paid for it. There were eggs and sausage but only one toaster and waffle maker so the lines were super long. Overall we had a good stay and would come back again if we are in the area.

Disappointing for a Marriott property, the décor is updated and standard, However it’s like putting make up on a monkey. The rooms have no flow, lots of space, just no usable space. The bathrooms have been renovated, but there is mold in the showers and again the space is useless. No place to put your things even though there is plenty of space for drawers and shelves. The towel rack fell to the floor the minute I touched it, as well as all the towels it was holding.
The bed was older, little too squishy for my tastes but it was clean. The towels however have seen better days. They were thin and crunchy, like someone forgot to add the fabric softener. One towel I opened up and a huge clump of hair fell to the floor. The towel followed. Yuck
The room temperature is unstable at best, every few hours I would either wake up freezing or sweating. My key cards were deactivated twice so far. They don’t recycle at the hotel at all (I asked) though they did take it upon themselves to throw out my shampoo, conditioner and shower gel… Who does that?!?
There was a huge, ugly bug in the wall of my room and the tv didn’t have a menu guide to figure out what channels were what and what time shows were on.
The only reason I gave the two stars was because the complimentary breakfast was nice, fresh fruit, waffles, yogurt. And the staff was pretty helpful and friendly.
I’ll be back in the area in a few weeks, I’ve booked that visit elsewhere.

Rooms lack good décor. bathroom looks silly when I’m not handicapped. couch is ok. Silly little table to eat on. WiFi was slow but what you expect? it’s free. air ventilation a bit moldy. temperature control is a PIA. could have used a better controller. bedding cover is do dull. Hope it’s clean.

I somehow end up defaulting to Springhill Suites when I can’t decide where to stay. My choice is usually about making sure my wife as a room she’s pleased with, because she’s quite fastidious with her own standards of upkeep.
I wasn’t wrong with this particular location.
The overall facilities are fresh looking and clean. Our room is practically spotless. Not that it’s absolutely perfect. But you can tell the place is well-​maintained, and I’ve witnessed workers at their jobs.
One pleasant surprise on arrival is that they have a lower level with covered parking. This is especially nice because it’s snowing off and on in the area, and I’ve avoided having to dig my rental car out of a snow drift. :-D

UTTERLY DISGUSTING! (This stay was on Oct 27^th 2014)
The only reason I gave them 1 star is cuz I have to… otherwise they’re a –17.
Don’t waste your time or money at this FILTHY hotel! The rooms were disgusting and the staffs attitude are even worse! Upon checking into my room the first thing I noticed was how smelly my room was… I’m convinced these people don’t clean to save their lives! I pulled back the covers only to find a tiny blood stain… WTF?! I immediately called the maid up to change it and to my surprise she acted offended by me wanting new sheets!
Ok so my new sheets have been put on the bed but as I lay my head down I SWEAR I can smell someone else on my pillow… I was grossed out! The bedding was dingy cuz it wasn’t clean and it wasn’t I till I decided to check out that I noticed how dingy EVERYTHING in that room was!
Ok so it’s now 3am and I think I feel something on me so I jump up and turn on the light… FUCKING BED BUGS!!! I’m desperately asking for a manager and constantly told there was no manager on site and that she wouldn’t be in until the following day. NOT ONCE was I even offered a new room or an apology but instead a stinky attitude and was just brushed under the rug!
FFWD to the next day… mind you I didn’t even get to sleep I just sat up on the couch till it was light out and hauled ass outta there as I had a long drive ahead of me to Massachusetts. Once I was settled in and well rested I called back asking to speak to a manager and was instantly «greeted» with another bad attitude! «IM the manager ma’am what’s the problem??» LOL EXCUSE ME? I hadn’t even said their was a problem yet I simply asked for a manager! I asked her name and she was silly enough to say Vanessa. I say silly cuz I eventually checked their website and she’s no manager shes a damn front desk agent! I then asked for a general manager and she told me she was busy and even though she was going to pass me to her v. mail she was «going to make sure to warn her about MY attitude»…WTF?!
So I’m now in contact with Mary Kay Manchin who in all honesty wasn’t interested in hearing my complaint because as I was explains to her my issues she wasn’t listening… she was too busy insisting that her maid are clean and how does she know I don’t bring the bed bugs… is she for real??? Whatever happened to customer service? She then told me to contact Marriott if I have a problem. I asked her for the property managers name/​number and she proceeded to tell me that they didn’t have one. I told her I saw their plaque behind the desk and she said… and I quote «well then you can come back in here and look at it yourself» IM FLOORED!
To sum this up Mary Kay Manchin and her staff are nasty people with an even more nasty room. I’ll never stay here again… don’t even want to drive past this dump! They need a visit from the health department and shut down!

Don’t stay here! Someone *inside the hotel* was calling rooms asking for verification of credit card numbers pretending to be from the front desk. A semi-​pro scam. We reported this to both front desk boys, who said «too bad» and wouldn’t call police. Had them call their manager, who was on «day off» and she said the same thing, and implied it was a *guest* and not some rogue staff. Totally unprofessional and jerk attitude. Didn’t refer me to a security staff person or offer a way for me to file an official complaint, Also the tv in the room sucked and the bed is nothing to write home about. No «do not disturb sign», and room not vacuumed for 4 days. Don’t stay here!

Surprised by all of the fair reviews of this hotel. Must be people who don’t travel much. Stayed here for a weekend with a few clients from overseas. Location is pretty good, equidistant from Woodbury and NYC. The positives end there.
Parking lot is a bit of a disaster. I was nearly hit coming in or out due to the inappropriate signage or lack of direction following on the part of other drivers. Do everyone a favor and take the signs down– no one is reading them.
Lobby looks nice, although bar is dark and hard to see things in. Front desk staff was friendly and quick to check me in. Upon arrival into the room I noticed a few things– this is not a typical «suite» ½ wall separates the living area from the bedroom area. Beds are very used. Looking at the base of the bed platforms, they are not the same as everything else in the room (you can tell the hotel got a recent refresh). TV is not great, remote was unresponsive. Outlets in the wall lamps did not continue to hold a current. My phone had less battery in the morning than it did when I went to bed.
Then there are the bathrooms– ugh the bathrooms. Baseboards are caked with grime on top. Floors look clean at first glance, but upon further inspection you can tell housekeeping doesn’t do much with them. The bottom of my shower curtain was disgusting. Covered in some sort of brown material and mold.
I stay in Marriott properties quite frequently, and this one is hands down the worst I’ve ever stayed in. Next time I am in the area I will not be staying here.

This was my first time staying at the spring hill suites and I must say that it wasn’t bad at all. I only stayed two night (June 17 – 19), was able to get a reservation the day of and the price was reasonable. The staff was really friendly and accommodating. I can’t speak about the rooms on the lower levels, but mine (on the 4^th floor) was clean and spacious. The breakfast was great however, if you’re not a morning person, you’ll miss out. They start cleaning up at 9:15 so I would recommend getting downstairs early. Also, if you have a car, it may be a little difficult to find a parking spot (at least a spot that is above ground) and the pool and fitness center are nothing special either. It may sound like there are a lot of Cons to this place, but for the price and convenience, it’s not bad at all.

I am here with my son for an international chess tournament. Initially the agreement this hotel had with the chess organization was to drop room guests off to tournament site Doubletree hotel. And Doubletree hotel will drive guests back to Springhill suite. As soon as the front desk supervisor learned that Doubletree hotel’s only shuttle was broken down, she had contacted her manager to adjust the shuttle service to pick up and drop off guests from and back the tournament site. This was done promptly and manager took immediate action to add drivers. The assistant general manager even joins the driving group. I greatly appreciate this front desk supervisor (Kristin) excellent service. She is very kind, helpful and professional.
Besides the excellent service, the room space is great and quiet even next to the elevator. The breakfast option is great and fresh. The dining area is big and clean. I would recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

The Wife and I stayed here this past Good Friday for a trip down to the city for a concert. Found it on Expedia and the price couldn’t be beat compared to hotels down there, especially during Easter Weekend. The room was large and clean, bed was comfortable, location only minutes from train station and shopping. The free breakfast had plenty of options and was good. Would recommend this place for a cheap quick jaunt down to NYC.

I stayed there back in August for a two week conference and really enjoyed my stay.
The first room where I was placed was an adjoining room, so I called the front desk and they were very helpful in facilitating the move. Because it was a weekend, there were few rooms available and they had to put me next to the elevator. I was worried about it because of noise, but actually found it to be quiet — I have definitely stayed in hotel before where you can hear everything! The layout is nice because the bed is in the back area near the window — far from the door — and I think that really helps with the noise. One thing to note is that the lobby is actually on the 3^rd floor (because it’s on a hill), so I would try to book on the 4^th floor or higher.
They offer free breakfast and I found the food to be very good. They had a ton of options (though some days had less options) and I found plenty to eat (which can sometimes be a problem as a vegetarian) — they had bagels, greek yogurt, juices, fresh fruit, as well as many hot items.
Another great feature of the hotel is the free shuttle that they offer around Tarrytown. I was not aware of this before I booked, but definitely found it helpful since I was there for 2 weeks and didn’t rent a car. It’s only about 5 minutes to town, which has many great restaurants to choose from. To the train station, it takes less than 10 minutes and from there you can take a train right into the city — very easy!
Lastly, all of the staff I encountered were very friendly and helpful — often going out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and our needs were met. It can be hard to stay in a hotel for two weeks straight, but I truly enjoyed staying there.
My conference will be meeting in Tarrytown annually and I know I’ll be back at the Springhill Suites!

I was not impressed with this hotel and I usually love the Marriot brand properties. The room was dingy — dirt in the corners, hallways smelled like smoke even though the hotel was smoke-​free, breakfast was too crowed and food was not as good as residence inn, waffle iron had a 20min wait, fire alarm went off 2 times (once at 8am on Sunday!), pool is tiny, beds are tiny. Price was cheap ($ 116) but I would try somewhere else next time.

Geesh, no.
First of all, heeeeelll, people, let’s define «suite». A suite, to me, connotes TWO BLESSED ROOMS, separated by a door. Two full-​sized beds with a ratty sleeper sofa behind a ¹⁄₃ wall does NOT constitute a suite.
Secondly, if this is renovated, I’d hate to see it before it was reno’d. The place stinks of old smoke (despite being a ‘smoke-​free’ facility), the elevators are dingy, and the luggage carts are dull and sticky. The happy hour posters in the elevators are curling. Overall, just grim.
The room is little. The couch was covered in crumbs from a previous guest. The bathroom floor had hair on it (my personal holy grail is to find a non-​luxury hotel that does NOT have hair on the bathroom surfaces). Walls are way thin. I heard the guy in the next room sneeze (softly). I can hear two tvs on, neither of which is mine.
It’s so not awesome that I’m eating my $ 300 loss (paid in full) and shelling out additional moolah to switch to the Sheraton.
Two stars. One for the not-​disgusting pack n play; one for existing, I guess.

Had a glorious time at the Springhill Suites Tarrytown. Rooms are great; they are spacious, clean, and have everything you need. Service is exemplary, gave me great over the phone directions and when my remote wouldn’t work, promptly sent someone to fix it. Breakfast was nice too. My only grief was that the room service menu didn’t have a zipcode, so i got charged for two long distance calls because I was guessing. Would recommend this hotel anyday.

i’m a fan of this hotel, everytime we go, we usually get the rate of $ 99 per night on a saturday. i mean how can you beat that price. i go here at least a few times a year.

Awful!
I’ve stayed at many Springhill Suites and am a loyal Marriott elite member. This hotel is a disgrace to the Marriott name. Very old and dated, which is contrary to most properties that bear the Springhill brand.
I was put in a basement room… as in, underneath the «underground» parking. It was dingy and cold. The carpet was worn down to the backing in places. Pubic hair was on the bath mat. Overall, a complete turnoff.
To boot, the walls are very thin, so you hear all of the goings-​on in the bathrooms on either side of you. Foam (non-​spring) cheap mattresses — fortunately bed bug free.
Only good points are standard at all Springhills — free parking, internet, and breakfast.
I would never stay here again — will take my chances at the Courtyard Marriott directly across the street.

If you don’t want to pay close to $ 500 a night for a hotel in the city then this is well worth the 20 minute drive and only $ 130 a night, the room was clean and spacious, the staff was great, they don’t have any smoking rooms so they put me in a room close to a door so I could get outside fast and easy. I will stay here again when I’m back in the city.
