This restaurant just isn’t as good as advertised. Mediocre sushi. Slow service. Outrageous prices. If you are looking for a good sushi spot in Tarzana or Encino, try Makoto instead.

Great sushi and meals. Service is polite and quick to serve. Not the cheapest but very good for date or wife night out. Have fun.

Ughhh this place is by far the best place for Chilean Sea Bass. Their fish is also super fresh and everything about this place is great but just for their sea bass alone, it deserves 5 stars.

By far one of my favorite sushi spots in the valley. This place is a bit prices but that’s what you get with great service and quality food. Every time I sit at the bar I meet great people, make friends with my chef or that time and enjoy wonderful food. My personal fave dishes are the Albacore Special, the Sea bass, and the bacon wrapped okra. I recently took my dad here for Father’s Day and he loved it! He raved about he food and wanted to know if there was one closer to him. He will definitely be back. I suggest sitting at the bar for the best experience and always engage with your sushi chef.

Best sushi in the valley by far! Everything is so fresh. The chefs are amazing. Soy sauce and wasabi aren’t even necessary the way it’s prepared here. If you want amazing sushi, this is THEPLACE.

So I was here last night in the waitress was so rude they try and save plates try and cram everything onto one plate when it was separate orders we asked for three orders of salmon sashimi then we ordered two orders of salmon sashimi stupid waitress responses can I put it on one plate what kind of s*** is that. She’s stupid it was two different orders. Better staff and then she spills water on me and damages my suit the cost $ 1,000 and I had to spend $ 25 at the dry cleaning today the management did nothing I could give two f**** about the money the point is man up for your employees but the manager doesn’t care even though my family spends a lot of money there they have they have stupid girls has waitresses there on who they hire so my recommendation don’t go eat there unless you want to have the worst night of your life in the worst service you’ve ever had

What a great sushi and yakitori spot in the Valley. I wish this place was closers to home, I’m lo9king for a new spot as my usual place under new ownership and im not digging it at all! When you’re seated you’re given 3 menus. At first I didn’t like it, but I found that’s it’s pretty easy to order this way, as you don’t have to fumble around a big messy ill oriented menu. This place has all my favorite kinds of fish… Toro, mackerel, uni, and tuna. What I really love was that it was all nice quality, and there is a yakitori menu. As far as sushi places go, I really like this one, even though I wanted to hate it! I highly recommend this place even if you’re far away Until next time…

I am so confused about the reviews for this place. This was probably the worst sushi I have had in a long time. Be warned that when you walk in, the smell of fish is so overwhelming, it’s concerning. Somehow, my friend and I convinced ourselves that it has to be good because it was packed all night with a nonstop list of people waiting to be seated. The only reason I am even giving 2 stars is for our server Richard. He was knowledgable, friendly, and apologetic for the incredibly long wait for every item we ordered. Thank you Richard for being so awesome! We ordered the Albacore appetizer, spicy tuna hand rolls, salmon nigiri and a lemon roll. Everything took at least 20 mins to come out. The Albacore appetizer consisted of a whole raw onion sliced that took up the whole plate and minimal albacore sashimi. We could barely find the albacore in the jungle of onions. The spicy tuna hand rolls were soaked in a mayo sauce that was unappetizing. Not impressed at all. Salmon nigiri was average at best. The lemon roll was mushy and had so much lemon on it, you couldn’t taste anything else. Also, parking sucks and the wait is long. What is there to like about this place?!

I have been here twice and I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt it’s the best sushi I have ever had! The charred sea bass skewers are light and delicious! You can eat a dozen of them and still want more. The sashimi drizzled in garlic oil with dried garlic chips should have songs written about it. Let’s be honest, there probably are already! The staff is friendly and the prep are is so clean. I watched them sharpen and clean their knives on one of my visits. It’s a bit expensive, but definitely worth the cash… and parking is rough… but again… worth it!!!

I love going here for their wide selection of skewers! I always order skewers, sashimi salad, green roll and other special entrees prepared by certain chefs. Their service if great and I enjoy having cold sake with a few friends as well as the staffs there.

I am a regular here and have to say the food is great typically and the service not so great. This evening we waited over 1 hour to get our first roll the excuse was that they did not make the tempura yet and that it takes time which did not make sense since our first roll out did not have any tempura in them and it was already 1 hour. They apologized and said to make it up to us the would give us a complimentary ORANGE what a joke even more of an insult. I guess the figure they can get away with bad customer service since they are always busy.

This restaurant sings the songs of my childhood. I have been frequenting this restaurant since I was literally 10, before it expanded. Oh my goodness they have gotten their rolls down to a science. Their food and rolls are incredible. They are consistent!!! I love that this is a family friendly COMFORTABLE restaurant that’s good and doesn’t compromise their quality of food. Just bc you don’t have to wear heels and get dressed up doesn’t mean the food Isn’t dank as eff. I LOVETHISPLACE. the waiters can be rough but they are hard working and have been working here for years. I always see familiar faces when I come here because all of the valley frequents this place. Come it’s life changing.

My all time favorite Sushi spot! The best in Tarzana! Seared Albacore tuna special with onions, jalapeño is awesome! Cooked chillean seabass is so good! The asparagus and scallop skewers are great too! Spicy tuna rice cakes Albacore sushi Halibut sashimi Spicy tuna cut roll You can’t go wrong here! Love mango and strawberry mochi for dessert. It’s often crowded with a wait, but so worth it! Friendly staff provides great service. Nice atmosphere! Delicious Fresh Sushi!

Knocking off one star for their extremely long wait times. But other than that, lemme tell you, THISPLACEISBOMB-DOT-COM. other than their amazing«Green Roll» or their melt-in-your mouth albacore sashimi, the one item you MUST try is their seabass skewers. Those skewers are heaven on earth. Also, supposedly you can make reservations now for dinner, to avoid waiting, but when I called them last time some lady over the phone told me they don’t take reservations? hmm weird.

What I like about here that the food tastes the same every time I visit. The fishes are always fresh and pure and I can taste the rich flavor of fishes. I am a raw fish lover and I usually don’t order any tempura roll(deep fried); but my last visit here I decided to order tempura rolls and experience some new tastes and flavors. The chef recommended to try the sea bass tempura roll & mango roll. OMG, I haven’t tried any tempura rolls like these two types of rolls. Unbelievably delicious and perfectly flavorful! I recommend everyone to try these AMAZING rolls! The sushi rice in here is different than other sushi restaurants. I have no clue about the right cooking method of sushi rice but in here the rice gets sticky. The rice doesn’t change the taste of the rolls but it deforms the shape of the rolls! Great quality and great price!

Where do I begin? This place is probably my favorite sushi place ever… And that’s a HUGE deal, being a major sushi lover since like age 5. Parking is never really an issue here and even though it could get crowded you never really have to wait longer than 10 – 15 minutes. The great part is that you can make reservations in advance so you won’t have to deal with a waiting period. My favorites here definitely have to be the Cilantro Roll, Lemon Roll, Sea Bass Skewers, Spicy Tuna with Crispy Rice and Salmon Tower(my mouth is watering). Their fish is always fresh, incredibly tasty and seasoned/marinated to perfection… Oh and their prices are super reasonable! I highly recommend that you come with a couple people so you can order a bunch of things and share. This way you can sample a little bit of everything. The staff here is always very accommodating and kind. If you’re coming here with kids, they have high chairs and chopstick helpers, which is always very nice and helpful for mommies or daddies!

Katsu is the man. No, seriously, sit in front of him! Everything was spectacular! We ordered omakase and everything he prepared for us was amazing!!! If you know me, you know that I can eat uni until my teeth fall out. Well, the uni here is fresh… so delicious and buttery. It surely melted in my mouth with each bite. What blew me away(and GASP… more so than the uni that night) was the way he prepped the salmon. I am not one who enjoys salmon as much as others, but Katsu surely impressed us! I can’t wait to go back, bring all my friends, and fight to sit in front of him at the bar. Thank you, Katsu, for a spectacular dining experience!
