All the negative reviews are very accurate and sad managers aren’t addressing these issues. So frustrating to stand in such long lines. No customer service. And there are always a million carts in the parking lot just waiting to roll into the cars. Ralph’s is way better.

We all know what these big supermarkets are — mediocre and expensive. For this specific one I’ll make it real easy for you: Category | to buy or not to buy Vegetables — never Fruit — on occasion dry fruit/nuts — yes cut fruit — mango and cantaloupe. the rest– not good to say the least. vons made food — not bad. but the isle section — not the deli one! in the deli one get the potato skins they’re great when fresh, the rest — blah anything mass produced — sure. had no problem w expiration dates so far. decent selection of olive oil/canned goods/beverages and what not. fresh meat/fish/seafood — expensive — meat is ok, fish — horrible, shrimp — ok. staff is nice but not really worth the $ unless everything else is closed and you have no where else to go. they close at 12 and every day change the door you can enter from. annoying to say the least.

The bathrooms are locked on the top floor and you have to ask for a key to use them. This type of thing is understandable but very frustrating. There are no self checkout terminals here either. The workers however are friendly. One of them signed me up for the Von’s card and all I had to do was agree, I didn’t even have to give my phone number. The prices here also quite good.

This is where I have been shopping for the psst 2 months since its close to my new house. Prices are pretty high, but its usually clean and well stocked. Tonight Izzy was our cashier. She didn’t greet us, smile, or anything. Borderline rude. Not sure if she was having a bad day, but damn! If you are in customer service as least be pleasant! I work in sales so I know better. Parking lot can be a nightmare, so be careful with all the shitty drivers in it. I much prefer the Ralph’s down the street, much better selection and customer service.

This is the only store I know in this entire city and all of its’ surrounding cities that is always short on people. Without a doubt there is always a loooooooong line with only 1 or 2 cashiers working. I have walked out due to frustrarion 3 out of 5 times I stop there. It is my misfortune that this is the only Vons close to my house.

Have been here a few times, mostly go to the Deli and get chicken strips, good place to stop by.

A clean but poorly stocked and overpriced Vons. With Gelsons directly across the street, Whole Foods just three blocks away, and Trader Joe’s about two miles away, Safeway needs to step up their game significantly with this Vons location. For Pete’s sake, they’re charging more than Gelson’s is for most items!

This market is just pitiful! When there are fantastic markets on every other corner in the Valley you would think that this market would get with the program. I only go here to pick up the few forgotten items on my list and the reason I go here is because it should be the quick easy in and out market on the north side of Ventura Blvd. Without fail every single time, at any time of the day and night there is a line. It is not like you are getting better groceries or less expensive groceries so it might be worth the wait. This place has the same food at the same prices as Ralphs, This market needs to invest in more staff, an express line that is really express or self check-out. Just do it! After hoping once again that I could just run in for a few items I was sadly disappointed to find a long wait. There is just no excuse for this.

BEWAREWHATYOUBUYFROMTHEDELISECTION. UNBELIEVABLE! One of the worst store managers of any business that I have ever come across. I have been in this store at least 10 times and as I walk in I always notice a sandwich display to my left(Deli section). I wish I could figure out how to attach the pictures that I have. This display is absolutely disgusting. The meat is old and has fungus growing all over it. It makes me not want to eat anything from this store. Last week I finally confronted the store manager who happened to be standing next to the display as I walked in. I asked him why nobody ever changes the sandwiches on display. It’s just disgusting. He said that they don’t sell the sandwiches that are on display. I still asked why they are on display. The meat is at least two — three weeks old judging by the looks of it and all of the sandwiches on display have something growing on them. He simply said, that they don’t want to waste the sandwiches by throwing them out every day. He then walked away. I took a picture, but I’m not sure how to attach it. As I was checking out, there were about 4 people in front of me in line and the other line was just as bad. The manager was standing around and not opening up a new line. When it was finally my turn a little over 10 minutes later, I noticed the manager open up another line, help 1 customer, and then go stand back in front again. I looked back and there where 6 people behind me and 5 people in the line next to us. When I came home with my groceries, I noticed that the Chicken Parm had an expiration date showing that expired the day before I purchased it. I shouldn’t have purchased anything from this store. My mistake. The display and the managers response to my criticism should have told me everything. BEWAREWHATYOUBUYFROMTHISSTORE — ESPECIALLYFROMTHEDELISECTION. FRESHNESSISNOTTHENUMBERONEPRIORITY. If someone can assist me in figuring out how to post a picture, I will post what I have.

I live across the street from this Vons, so the temptation to shop here is strong, but it’s pretty cruddy. Everything’s expensive and a lot of things I need for baking are only available in one(pricy) brand. Also, I was looking in the spice aisle for cinnamon, didn’t like the price and walked around the store a little bit. Low and behold their Kosher section had a different brand of cinnamon, and for a lot cheaper. WTF? Whatever that is, it’s not good for the customers…

Walked in and walked right back out because of the putrid smell from their«deli». Not sure if it was their mummified fried chicken, crusty salads, or some other atrocity. I have shopped here before for convenience, but after that experience I don’t trust their product nor do I recommend it.

Not the friendliest Vons I’ve ever been to. Many of their deli employees often seem too apathetic about the buying needs of the customer. I always buy their Chicken Meal Deal but their signage needs updating and clarification. I read their sign that says I can get two Signature Salads. It didn’t have any price restrictions or retrictions on type of salads that I can choose from. So I picked up a tuna salad that had the Signature Salad label on it to try it out and the cashier daid this was not included in the meal deal. I told them that the sign said ANY two Signature Salad. She called the assistant manager and explained my situation. The assistant manager said because no one eats tuna salad with chicken it is «obvious» that Vons doesn’t have to clarify that certain salads are not included. I told her that the sign should be changed so it doesn’t confuse anyone else but she said I should at least«know» this already and not argue about it. I think this place only deserves two stars… if they change their attitude, I will at least give three the most.

This place was dingy and dirty. Cashier was super unfriendly. When I tried to sign for credit card their machine was broke and I had to tell her like 6 times I couldn’t sign. Then she finally said something rude about it and had me paper sign. To top it all off I got home and she didn’t give me my two boxes of tea i bought. Ralph’s it is.

Are you kidding me? They installed new systems tonight and their machine wouldn’t take my card for $ 20 purchase. I tried four times all the while my cashier — Justin — just stood there with a dead look on his face. No greeting when I was next, no apology for the problem — he didn’t even tell me my card didn’t go through. I ended up asking for the manager which I guess he took personally because he looked like I took a dump on his dinner plate. I was going to complain about the system but thanks to his shitty attitude, he’s going up too.

I normally shop at food 4 less but every once in awhile I come here for a few things. I went in today to grab a chicken for dinner and I was really excited about it being $ 5 Friday until I got home and saw that my chicken was missing a drumstick. Someone had to slide off the cardboard cover, open the lid, pull the elastic, and rip off the drumstick. Why not just grab one from the deli counter. In all that time they could of just bought the damn chicken and eaten the whole thing. It’s hamburger helper tonight I guess.

I must say how happy I was there were open… I needed to make a super early 6:30 am meeting for work and wanted to pick up some breakfast for my team. I Unilocaled surrounding grocery stores and they all seem to open around 7 am. Ugh. Totally my fault for not planning ahead of time. I drove to this Vons, Tarzana location, because let’s face it it’s close to my house and a 24 hour Wenchells donuts(when in doubt donut shops are open super early). And to my surprise I saw customers walking out of the store. Keep in mind it’s 5:45 am and I’m desperate. I pulled and clerk let me know they open at 5 am everyday! Horray!!! I was able to grab fruits and freshly baked bagels!!! And my team definitely loved that I supplied breakfast this early! Thanks Vons Team. You really made my morning.

Reviews don’t lie… maybe it’s time corporate makes some changes to this horrible store and its even more poorly trained employees. Consider going somewhere else. This outdated store also features horrible and rude customer service and extremely slow checkout. Had a horrible experience this evening with a cashier named Paul. I have never met someone so rude and uneducated. No surprise you work here. It is a shame they ever hired you. Maybe it’s time you head back to high school and learn some basic people skills. Life’s not going to be easy for you with your bad attitude. Last time I ever go to this store.
