Winchell’s Donut House

!!!WARNING!!!They have roaches!!! I ordered a small black coffee and when I went to get the creamer and sugar that’s over on the stand against the wall I found a roach crawling in there and I told the worker she said ‘oh my god tried to kill it with the rag she was using to wipe the counters, then picked up the container and went to the back and simply rinsed out the creamer container and such until I left and put it back. But left the dirty rag there in guessing to continue cleaning with. The staff was nice but I’ll never go back.

I just left this place so frustrated that I threw the food away. The guy there is an idiot. I told him what I wanted on my sandwich so many times and he still couldn’t get it right. Just kept staring and laughing at me. he didn’t understand what lettuce was. finally he let me come behind the counter and put lettuce on my own sandwich. I was extremely nice to the guy even up until I left when I should have just walked out of the place. To the owners of this place watch the camera’s if you think i’m lying.

Just stopped by this morning and I wasn’t all that impressed. I ordered a tuna on croissant with avocado. For starters they made the tuna right in front of me which was unpleasant lol I saw them rip open the packet and add mayo, salt and pepper. I know, i know that’s how it’s made everywhere BUT I didn’t like seeing it come out of the pouch. They also charge for avocado but only give you a few thin slithers from ¹⁄₃ of the avocado, I mean if you’re gonna charge at least give a good amount or charge more for extra, something. The croissant wasn’t fresh and actually tasted nothing like a croissant that I am used to. All in all for me it wasn’t worth $ 6. Won’t be coming back.

Our nearest Winchell’s closed many moons ago so while we were in the valley we were happy to find one on Reseda Blvd!
The hubby picked up a bunch memorial day weekend for the whole family. Maple is my fave and it was delicious!

Regular quality and good tasting doughnuts. Upon my arrival, prior to my order I used their handsanitizer and ask the lady working for some napkins. She gave me a look and asked me: are you gonna buy any doughnuts?
To me she seemed as if she wouldn’t want to give me just a napkin unless I purchase something. When I mentioned to her that I am purchasing and is MY LAST TIME purchasing doughnuts here, she excused her interaction with «my manager says this».
Once she saw that I’m asking her to buy a dozen, she interacted very friendly with smiles and kindness.

They do not have strawberry doughnuts. But the ones we did get were just fine. Your typical fast doughnut place.

You guys completely SUCK! I came here to purchase a BLTCC sandwich that was on your menu, and it NEVER arrived. I was the ONLY patron in the place all the time. If this is a SPANISH speaking only establishment, then it needs to be known. I was VERY PATiENT, but I’m frustrated! THEY SUCK!

The Donuts are good but that frozen coffee drink is awesome. That stuff needs to be in every 7-​Eleven.

Uhm i wanted a regular ham n cheese croissant. you know like all donut stores… its swiss n ham lightly heated up… this was a $ 7 ham tower with mayo n cheddar. Never send the bf to winchells cause he didnt know what she was doing… second time disapointed a winnies. Anyways the sandwich was watever blah.

Me: Can I have one of these glazed old fashioned?
Lady at donut store: No old fashioned; cake.
Me: Oh! What kind of cake?
Lady: Cake
Me: Ok, what flavor cake?

The donuts here are very meh! I’m trying to find a great donut shop in the valley that’s open after noon. I will let you know if I find one.

Great place! very good service and the doughnuts are always fresh! You have to try their frozen coffee which they call «FROFFEE» probably the best I ever tasted!

$ 0.89 for a donut. I got 2 chocolate bar was average. Vanilla cruller was very good and fresh.
Got a large soda $ 1
Parking lot is large, food is cheap, on a Saturday morning donuts were fresh enough for me

This place is a disappointment to donuts. At least this location is. I patron this place regularly ONLY because I pass by it almost every morning when I’m not driving to work. Such a waste. Poor donuts. They aren’t fresh as often as they should be. So purchasing one is going to be a gamble. Best thing on the menu is anything hot. Yikes. This is a donut shop, correct? Hopefully one day soon they will get it right. For now, stand clear of the donut goods. If you were to bring the company a dozen donuts from here, you can forget about having donut duties the next day. But I love the macaroons ;)

I had a party at a place close to here. I asked the manager and she told me that I can get coffee from here. Before I get in, I read the reviews and I thought I’m going there just for a coffee and I shouldn’t be picky this time.
A nice smiley pretty lady took my order. That was strange for me with having the reviews in my mind. «Why the reviews on Unilocal are so bad for the place?» I asked. «We’re new owners here, me and my husband. We opened 4 days ago» she replied.
So that’s why.
Anyway, I asked for a party size coffee which she told me it’s $ 13.99 but when she wanted to charge, $ 11.99 was the price, here I asked for a single coffee too.
The single coffee came fresh and tasty.
Sunday at party time I asked my dad to pick up the party size coffee for me. He came back with a big smile! What is that for: she gave him a free drink while she was making the previously ordered coffee ready. That’s so generous!
The coffee was warm enough and the container was full enough. Not like some others who fill the containers half way.
By the way she told me that they make fresher donut every day and Aldo they have bagels and croissants.
I would suggest the previous reviewers to go there one more time and give them a chance to make their new business roll. Revise your review if you going them changed to better. I’m the first 5-​star reviewer here and I’m sure they’ll be more in near future sequel of their good service.

Mathew is extremely unhelpful and I offered to buy donut boxes for $ 1 and he would not sell me them.

Yuck! Old, dry, low selection when it’s late at night. I’d only go here in the morning.

If you want good donuts, don’t go there!
Donuts are the cheap mass-​produced taste ones, avoid.
Go instead to Tastys Donuts mom & pop small place down the street at Reseda & Burbank.

People IT’S DONUTS! No, not the best. But not the worst. Staff is usually nice — heck if I saw people pigging out on donuts I’d be nice too :-) Prices are super fair and still better than any of the local grocery stores.

This Winchell’s has a small spot in my heart.
I used to live a block away (Collin/​Burbank + Reseda) so I used to come here either late-​night after work or after a midnight gym session @ the Sherman Oaks 24 or after a late-​night @ Little Rock Bar across the street with friends.
Anyway… the Winchells glazed donut is amazing fresh out the donut. Have loved it since I was a kid. The Strawberry jelly donuts are on point as well as their cinnamon rolls.
The cake sprinkles donuts are good also. I usually see the 40-​something year old Mexican guy who works the 10pm-​5am shift… baking the donuts in the back… telling me which ones he’s got fresh out the oven cooling in the back.
Definately some nice tasty carbs to sober up on after a late-​night of drinking, dancing, and debauchery @ the Little Rock.
