Buzzard Beach

It took us a while to try this place because they do not offer call-​ahead to-​go service, and when busy, your to-​go order can take up to 40 minutes. Also, despite being water front, the clientele here can be very rough around the edges (good ‘ol boys chugging beers, getting loud, nowhere near politically correct, etc). So, we finally gave this place a try, and, as expected, the Burgers were delicious. The term «Half pound Burger» gets slapped on menus an awful lot lately, and often times I question how true it is but not at Buzzard Beach. These things were enormous. My burger was cooked exactly how I ordered it (medium rare), and it was seasoned well. The bun was excellent, soft and fresh. My wife and daughter loved the fries (I’m not really a fry-​guy). We will definitely return.

«Best burgers in town!» I have always enjoyed my visits, some more than others. Buzzard Beach has some not very favorable reviews. I understand poor service and giving that feedback. Management doesn’t know what to fix unless someone tells them what is broke. Hopefully you have been heard. I would like to ask those folks to give it another try. If not, more burgers for me.

WE had a group gathering of of motorcycle club and 30 people arrived on a whim. Well, What can I say from my experience. Buzzard Beach is as decribed, lol, should have known, lol. Imagine a Boat Dock and a screened in Porch with 6 plastic tables with yard chairs and Did I mention No Air Conditioning in Florida, In Summer, Yeah, and then the cook is in a trailer outside of bldg, cooking foo, $ 10 – 12 average, I had Wings, $ 10 with iced tea, Fied, Nekid and served with a cup medium sauce. Not sure but Vinegar and Pepper with maybe Mayo,?, Nothing to go back for and Did I Mention, No Air, Damm it was hot as Heck eating there.

Good place, great bartender, solid food.

Best atmosphere around. Awesome place to grab a drink and sit on the lake. We always stop here when we are in the area!!!

Beautiful lake view! I would skip the fried oysters next time. They come in frozen, and were too fishy for my liking. I’m from New England and know good seafood. Husband had the burger, little salty, but good. Onion rings and potato salad were very good as well.

ABSOLUTELY THE BEST BURGER I’VE EVER HAD!!! I don’t know what happened when the other people were here but I’ve been coming here for years and never once had a bad meal. Very relaxed dive bar Jack the owner is always there talking with the people. Awesome staff!

Don’t be in a hurry. Sit back & relax. Forget about your troubles. Enjoy the scenery.
If you want fast food, this is not it. If you are looking for a local hangout that is kind to strangers, make this your stop.
Some tips on the service, if the lot is packed expect it to take a while, but if you are looking to hangout, you have time. The waitresses are low stress, but don’t be confused, they are very tentative. Expect excellent burgers, good grouper, chicken and egg salad (which came first anyway?), and oh yea, excellent beer too. Nice and cold on those sultry summer days. I also like the shrimp and oysters.
Awesome Beach food. Friendly local Lake County service. Clean relaxed environment with a cool Lake Eustis breeze.

This is a Lake County dive bar and burger joint at its best! I decided to write this review despite only being here once because I was shocked by how low the rating was. After reading them all I can easily understand why. A lot of people want good food fast and this isn’t an ideal stop for someone with a limited lunch break schedule. It’s also full of smokers that are usually polite enough to step outside but not necessarily always.
Here’s the deal people: THIS IS A DIVE BAR!
That means don’t show up expecting everything to be spotlessly clean or fancy wine served in glass.
That being said, this place is awesome. Be prepared to wait so order drinks. They have a huge list of beers and a full bar that’s all really cheap. They even have dollar drafts regularly. The food is excellent and fairly priced. The burgers were recommended by all my friends still in the area but being vegetarian I went for the grilled cheese. I also asked for rye bread and to add tomatoes. It was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I’ve had anywhere! The owner apparently picks all his produce fresh from local markets and his tomatoes are always immaculate.
The actual atmosphere, to me, is ideal for any Florida dive bar. It’s small and right on the water with a dock. Great for watching the sunset by the way! The main part of the restaurant is a big screened porch so hence why people can get away with smoking inside. The owner cooks all the food inside of his food truck though and the regular bar girl is very sweet while being super attentive to our drinks (even though one of the boys I came with was a complete drunk asshole who embarrassed the rest of our group).
I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to experience some real Floridian atmosphere!

If I could give them a Zero rating I would… Food terrible, service horrible…
We looked forward to this place as we really wanted a great burger; the feedback on this place was they had the best burger around. So we ordered and waited and waited and waited. It was about 45 minutes and mind you when we ordered there were not a lot of people there.
My husband’s burger came WELL done when he asked for medium rare and was a small burger. Mine was almost well done. We asked for condiments. The waitress brought over what appeared to be the only condiment box in the place. The mustard container was so filthy we need to use a napkin to pick up the bottle. Ugh… And we still had to ask for salt.
I am not sure what standard is being used to judge the burger, but I can tell you I took two bites and I was done… It was terrible. It came with a slimy piece of lettuce that I push it to the side with a melted piece of cheese. There was no flavor and of course way over cooked. The bun was nice and unique. So I am not sure what everyone else is tasting, but I will never go back. There are so many other places that have a great burger.
Oh, did I mention the service? I don’t blame the server as she tried the best she could… this is on management. One server, really???

Too busy to rent kayaks, and I believe him too. Two people working the restaurant and one working the grill, on a Saturday just after lunch during bike week. Just move on.

The burgers are what they are know for so don’t get anything else on your first visit. Delicious! The roll they put the burger on was awesome and burger was cooked exactly as I ordered. This is a must stop place.

Burger was good but not worth the wait. Won’t be back unless I have a lot of time to kill.

Went to buzzard beach because we have heard good things about the food. It was a mistake: the waitress was completly disinterested in taking our order and seemed annoyed that we didn’t immediately know what we wanted. When we ordered she warned that the burger (what was recomended) would take 35 minutes. Hour and a half later we finally get our meals. The only time we saw the waitress again was when she delivered the meals. The owner seemed to do half her job despite that there really wasn’t that many people there. Through out our wait we were surrounded by smokers who kept lighting up cigarette after cigarette.
When finally got our meals the food was average at best. The burgers are large but unevenly seasoned. I requested medium and the burger was rare to medium rare.

Awesome! Keep it low, relax and have the best burger. Full bar!

i eat here 3 – 4 times a month. best burgers for 50 miles and entire menu is good. full bar and good beer selection. do yourself a favor and have the burger. be prepared to relax, the place gets busy and one man does all the cooking, but it’s worth the wait.

We lunched there today. Order went well but after 45 min waiting for food told the waiter and he looked shocked. Another 15 min and no food… ended up paying for the drinks and leaving. Food might be good but we didn’t get a chance to find out.
