Good food and friendly staff, waits a bit long but environment makes up, and seems they didn’t change the décor from soup to nuts

We had our first visit to Hwy 441 Diner this morning, and it was great! Wonderful food – good size portions – cooked perfectly – excellent prices – and a really nice waitress named Kelly! It was our first visit, but will certainly not be our last! As they say, «Try it, you’ll like it!»

First we walked into a dirty old dinner, then they sat us at a table that had just been wiped down by the door. The chair had food all over it. We ordered coffee and my wifes cup smelled like bleach. Mine was stained all down one side with coffee marks. The smell while we waited for our food was of old mop water. I ordered sausage and cheese omelet which was good with hash browns which where also good, but had to wait to eat them because we didnt have silverware. My wifes scrambled eggs were runny. Her bacon was cold and we wanted to try the biscuits and gravy so we ordered a half order. The biscuit was cold and gravy had maybe 2 chunks of sausage. Overall we will never come back. We had one other bad experience here. The waitress was nice. Just bad management.

Been here on three separate occasions in last two weeks. Had breakfast and lunch twice. Food is good and cheap. Breakfast was half that at Perkins and better. 50s diner atmosphere. Playing 50s backround music. Mostly locals and older people. Which is probably a good sign. Lots of traffic. Service was fast and friendly. I’m a Snowbird from NY with a place in Mt Dora. I will be back.

The food is good, the prices are very reasonable and the waitstaff is pleasant… to the customers. They seem to have a habit of arguing with one another, and the owner… loudly. I like to have lunch in a pleasant environment. Having the employees yell at each other right next to me while having lunch is a bit of a turn off. I have also had delivery orders from them. Always very speedy and the orders were always correct. Will go back. Just wish they would take their drama out back.

Very nice staff. Good food and easy on the wallet. I had the French Dip sandwich and it was very good. A great place to eat in town.

I added 2 photos with this review. My b-friend and I always wanted to try this place. The space is quite large and has pink 1950’s diner seating with booths. We were seated right away for lunch but put in the back next to the kitchen. Why? Because 3 booth tables were not clean from crumbs and water. Now, normally that would not bother me but the booth in front of us seated were the waitresses in between shifts. or break etc. They were talking bad about each other and one of them the bills she had and what was late?! They would also talk about the mgmt! I just want to go sit and eat and get away from drama! I don’t want to be that close or hear TMI from my waitresses. We will be back but I will wipe the table down myself to not hear any of that! I had the grilled cheese and my man had the turkey club pictured. It was a total of 18.00 with out tip included.

This is a GREAT restaurant! I love the 50’s diner feel, the music, and atmosphere. The food and service were exceptional! Amanda was a very good waitress. We will definitely be back!

Been here a couple times, but today wife got served a omelette that was raw, runny eggs on the underside. Could not believe it. Server was almost non participate in our needs. We had to flag down another server. Was not impressed on this visit… Back to our favorite across the street. Sunrise Grill here we come!

We are new in town and stopped here for breakfast. Our plan, after eating the awesome meal, is to become regular customers! This place is clean, great service, hot food, & great prices.

Very pleased with our first visit. We had the chicken parm sub which was filled with a lot of chicken and had a good flavor. The fries were cooked perfectly. Also had the open faced roast beef with mashed potatoes and applesauce. Excellent. Especially the brown gravy. They absolutely need to change to Heinz ketchup though. The«fancy» ketchup they have is horrible. Other than that… five stars. Can’t wait to come back for breakfast.

I had the pleasure of eating dinner at the US441 Diner this evening. It’s a ‘50s style diner sporting nagahide booths, vintage tables and chairs, memoribilla, and music of the era. I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs, mashed potatoes, and fried squash with chocolate cake ala mode as dessert. The food was great! It was southern, home cooking at its best. Not to mention the service was impecible. It’s a fun place that has an extensive menu of reasonably priced items and serves everything from chocolate Cokes to meat loaf.

The Highway 441 Diner opened in February in the same location as the former Soup to Nuts Diner. The new owners have the restaurant looking spic-and-span, a big improvement. Have eaten there about ten times since it opened and find the food freshly made with quality ingredients, and a consistently clean and orderly atmosphere. The service is fast and friendly, and the menu provides a big selection. Breakfast, with on-premises baking, is especially attractive. Overall, I feel this restaurant provides an excellent dining experience in the diner category, and provides a reasonable price for the area. Recommended for a good hot meal, served quickly, with a smile, at a reasonable price.

I haven’t been to this place since it was Soup To Nuts years back and been meaning to stop by since it was Restaurant Impossible makeovered to Highway 441 Diner. I was pleased with everything. I ordered the 8oz Ribeye Special it took a few extra minutes to arrive but it was worth the wait! A great value with the two sides and bread for only $ 9.95. Wow, it was cooked well but I did need to add a little bit more pepper and salt since I like mine a bit more seasoned. The mash potato and brown gravy were seasoned well and the other side I choose was the fried squash with a dipping sauce of ranch. It was a very good amount of food probably enough to share… I’m happy to have my leftovers for a yummy midnight snack. Even though my waitress did suggest and offered to fry up some eggs to put on top for a good breakfast idea! When I travel through Tavares I’ll have to make a do-whap-stop on by this nice 60’s themed restaurant again!

Had breakfast here several days in a row when visiting the area. Fresh cinnamon rolls(as big as your head) are made every morning! Wait staff was training new employees and had some busy moments, but if you’re patient, it wasn’t bad. They were a little slammed one morning, but a retirement bus had dropped off a load of people. Overall experience, GREAT! Definitely looking forward to another visit when returning to this area!

My kids and I were recently driving by this shopping plaza and notice a new restaurant there. Outside appearance, nothing special. We decided to give it a try since we like new restaurants. Walking in, not too impressed with the décor on the walls. I did enjoy the music that was being played *oldies*; however, because of the music people were talking loud and didn’t take long to have a small headache. As for my kids, they enjoyed the music. Menu — everyday food you can get at any restaurants(sandwiches, salads, and dinner meals). With that being said, the prices weren’t bad and I did enjoy my food. Kids ate all theirs, so no complaints on the food. My main gripe would have to be that the floors were filthy. As I saw them set new customers down at tables, they had left over food on the floor near their feet. One of the plus side was the friendly servers.

This place touts itself as an «Authentic 1950’s Diner» Not sure I would agree, but the atmosphere is ok. The food is ok, the attitudes of the wait staff and the apparent lack of concern in the kitchen makes this a ok place. the Meatloaf was very good, or I would give this place one star. Our experience was an incorrectly ordered item was sent back, some of the not requested toppings were scraped off,(some still on) and sent back after an apparent reheating in a microwave, our dissatisfaction was only met with a sorry from the waitress.

Only 14 days old, ribs are great, Reuben Sammy is good, Greek salad was large but needs better dressing. All of the plates of food that went by were large size. Burgers were very big and delsih. Can’t wait to go back next week.
