Pizza Papalis

AWFUL. Ordered a calazone to go. Pretty straight forward, right? Plastic ware was buried UNDER the food in styrofoam container. Crust wasn’t completely cooked, insides were cold. UGH! Called manager as it was my first time ordering from this location. Gave a glib «sorry» which was not convincing. Will NOT be going there again and advise same for others. There are enough other GOOD options in town!

My wife and I sat down ordered then decided to go play the crane game at the front of the restaurant. Only to return to a bussed table, talk about not a welcoming feeling

The food is typical Pizza Papalis food… amazing!!! The service was awful. Never checked on for water refills (had to flag down twice) and the food runner (had a bandana on. Came on ⁴⁄₁₆ at 6 pm) who was holding our food while the waitress passed out the rest of the food was chomping so hard on her gum while our food was in the tray in front of her. Very unprofessional. Will never dine in again.

So I thought long and hard about doing this review but we were so disappointed. This was our second time there and we go for the deep dish Chicago style pizza. For those who have never been there yet, FYI the pizza does take 40 minutes so get a appetizer to hold you over. This time the pizza came out cold in the middle after waiting all that time. The waitress said they had problems with the oven the day before but has never had anyone complain that there pizza was cold. So instead of waiting again for them to run it through the oven we just took it home and heated it ourselves. We won’t go back. Buddy’s Pizza in Dearborn is always good and consistent. Definitely worth the drive.

We ordered a deep dish pizza to go and were extremely disappointed when we got home to find that the top portion of the pizza was not cooked. It was very doughy and not worth the price. We however have enjoyed our experience at the downtown Detroit location.

Excellent eats. Always a good branch. Service was quick. Allowed to order meals while waiting for a table opening. They offered service politely multiple times throughout the night.
They had spacious seating and good lighting. Fast turnaround and adequate staff. Would eat here again.

Looking at the reviews, it’s seems like people LOVE this place, or HATE it. We went with our 2 kids last Friday night, and we LOVED it.
Even though it was 6 on a Friday night, we were seated immediately. Big plus when you have 2 small children. Our server was Erin, and she was great. Friendly to the kids, helpful in explaining the menu to us newbies, gave honest feedback when we asked, and was overall helpful but not overbearing. My husband mentioned that he wished we could have her as a server wherever we went out lol.
Food was great. The kids got to make their own pizza, which was not only a unique attraction for them, but it kept them distracted and occupied while our pizza was making — the deep dish pizzas take 40 mins. We were prepared for that wait, having had Chicago style pizza in Chicago on many occasions, so that wasn’t a problem for us. They have crayons and activity sheets for the kids as expected as well, so we played lots of tic tac toe lol. We ordered breadsticks and a deep dish cheese pizza, and we were impressed. We have rather high standards for pizza, esp Chicago style, and their high quality cheese, flavorful sauce, and flaky crust met those standards. Breadsticks were delicious, fresh from the oven, buttery without being greasy, and served with a bonus cheese queso.
The interior décor of the place is also outstanding. Very Detroit-​themed, which is refreshing downriver, in the land of chain monotony. Lots of Tv’s to watch a game, comfortable and plentiful seating, great vibe. We’ll be back and bring friends :)

Well hello there Quality chicago style pizzas. I use to travel to dearborn or downtown detroit to have some good seafood pizza, but now i can and its only 5 minutes away from my house. Plus, it’s one of those pizza places where you can order beer as well, so yea… that’s what’s up.
I’ve seen this very exact spot turn from Fuddschmuckers to American Pie to this guy. And boy was I excited when my bus passed by and I saw that it’s now a Pizza Papalis. They did a great job as well, they new booths, tables, light fixtures and they even added a bar that has 313, 734 and Taylor, MI burned in on the ceiling part. That’s very cool.
Chicago style pizzas are always filling, so we always usually order a medium and that more than enough for two. We even have enough left over to take home with us. The east coaster in me somehow always asks for garlic powder and anchovies to give the pie and extra umph.
The staff is great, we can order ahead, we arrived, we got seated right away. Our server was amazing, very friendly and chatty as well. The world is revolving in its own axis like it should be. And life is amazing.

Great food, great service, our waiter, Demetrius was wonderful. Took good care of the 9 of us. We will be back again! Only one problem, the parking! Small lot but we managed!

I can say I tried it, I can also say I won’t be back. Spent $ 110.00 on pizza and salad and threw almost 2 ½ deep dish pizzas away. I was very disappointed and rarely have this type of complaint at restaurants. Would choose a deep dish from Jets 100x over this place.

We went there on a Thursday night, ordered a deep dish pizza & breadsticks. Walked out stuffed. Our server Dawn was phenomenal & super personable. Will definitely be back.

Excellent food, excellent service. Got the Spinach special with mushrooms. Reminds me of Chicago. Stacy, our waitress was quite attentive. Thanks guys!

I’m no stranger to this franchise, in fact, I frequent the one in Greektown quite often. But I will never frequent this particular location again! Our waitress (Erin) whom I recognized from several other establishments was very rude! She spent more time with the two young ladies sitting across from us (in fact, she was trying to hook her co worker up with one of them, so inappropriate) then she did seeing if we were ok. She had what appeared to be a attitude, she only checked on us twice in a hour and when she did come she came with the bill as if to suggest she was done with us. She didn’t even realize that I hadn’t touched my dinner until I asked for a to go box, and even then seemed as if she didn’t care, nor did she ask was anything wrong. Service like this makes me hate dinning out, especially since I know she’s going to want a tip of what she feels was deserving service! I can’t believe this place, and it hasn’t been open a entire 90 days yet! Driving 25 minutes is definitely worth it, why did they move out of Dearborn? I would leave a review of what I had for dinner, but since I didn’t eat it, I don’t know what it taste like!

This place is absolutely disgusting. We ordered the pan pizza and it was extremely soggy, breadsticks were greasy. Never coming back here again.

Nice atmosphere but was a bit shocked when I received my bill and one seasonal beer was 17 dollars. If you are going to charge that, you need to tell customers before hand.

Pizza was as good as their other locations. Friendly staff. The place looked clean to me. I still think they charge too much so only 4 stars. The owner posted on his Facebook page that they made mistakes the first week opened but in the process of fixing them. Kudos to him listening to customers. Great location.

This place is just dirty. Something sticky on the chairs that we were seated in. The waitress brought 3 drinks to our table and all 3 glasses had stuff floating in them.

First let me start by saying I ordered a thin crust.
The pizza was subpar and way too expensive. The staff seemed very new and inexperienced. This is what happen…
My son and I were half done with our meal when our waitress asked us to get up so they could move our table over for room for a big party. This seemed like a rookie mistake but everyone seemed like this was those first job. I may give it another shot in a few months,

They opened today. The wife and I went up there today placed an order for the small Deep Dish meat pizza and a couple of sodas. We were greeted and seated right away at first glance the place looks nice. I know that the small pizza would be more than enough food for us so we didn’t get any sides. The waitress said that it would be 40 minutes for the pizza which was cool with us so we ordered it. With this added time we noticed that for the place just opening my plastic glass was already chipped it was obviously an old glass probably from a different location as my wife had a new looking glass. Also when you are seated at the table there were already four plates there but they were also old and dated one was worn and said PizzaPapalis on the edges the other three were just plain plates. The TVs were easy to see from where we were seated made the wait go by quickly. The pizza came out at exactly 40 minutes I have to give them props for that as the place was getting pretty busy and the parking lot isn’t that big at that location. The pizza was cooked to my liking without any issues. We brought home two of the six slice pizza to enjoy later. I’ll be back. I added the part about the cups and plates as I thought everything should of had that brand new look to it.
