MUSTREADTHIS! I’ve been going to this place for years. Never had any problems. Normally I see Gisele but since I wanted a undercut, she said I should see Lindsey. So I made an appointment with her. I showed her a pic of what I want and she proceeded to pin and separate my hair. I had the picture up so she could see it. I mentioned that I would like it to be a little lower then what is in the picture she said ok. She asks if I’m ready then buzzes away. After, she did show me, but it was dark and it wasn’t pinned up so I barely saw it.(Wasn’t worried because I had never had a problem before) Then she proceeds to cut my hair how I asked. Which she did an amazing job on, it was exactly what I wanted. I could tell after, she was rushing to check me out because it was after hours now. I get home and pin my hair up to get a better look at the undercut and my heart dropped, it looked nothing like the picture. It wasn’t centered and was very crooked, and was way higher up then I asked for. So I called the next day explained the problem and requested a partial refund, and was told that they don’t do any type of refunds no matter what and that I could speak with the owner but she wouldn’t be back till next week. I emailed the owner never got a reply and called and left a message and never got a call back. I had to go to a barber to get it fixed, he couldn’t believe how bad it was. In order to fix it he had to take off more hair so now a good portion of my hair underneath is gone. So please be aware of this place. Update! I spoke with the owner. She was very nice but kept telling me that my definition of a undercut and their definition is totally different. She said she talked with Lindsay and she said Lindsay kept telling me she didn’t feel comfortable doing the undercut and that I wouldn’t listen. All she said to me was that she never did a design before so it may not look like the picture. I said that’s fine as long as the V part is like the picture It would be fine. So I didn’t get a refund because the owner said that Lindsay felt bad and didn’t charge me for the undercut, well I wasn’t told any of this. So she knew the undercut was messed up but didn’t say anything? So what it comes down to is this, if she didn’t feel comfortable doing the undercut then she should of said that she wasn’t going to do it because she didn’t want to mess it up, or something along those lines, instead of doing it and messing it up.

Well, I went in thinking ‘don’t be impressed’ as I honestly hadn’t heard good reviews about Pure NV(on here and through a friend) but I must say I was pleasantly surprised and I’m happy I gave them the opportunity to prove the people that urged me not to go here wrong. There was one small ‘pricing’ issue as the prices in the Salon and the prices online conflicted but the receptionist quickly adjusted these prices to the cheaper price and also honored the 30% each of the spa services I received(M-W Special). What a STEAL, how many Salons do that!!! ;) You get all the quality without the pain in your wallet and lacking in service. I got a calming facial plus a lip and eye treatment(a well worth it add-on!!;) and also a ‘sugar’ body polish from Marian. She was absolutely amazing, her years of experience came through in her technique, she massaged my face and ears and it truly made my whole body feel good. She also made me feel very comfortable the entire time and didn’t downgrade my beauty régime(like most places do). She explained what she was doing and the benefits of each product but NEVER came across pushy. Speaking of their products, they’re absolutely positively amazing – they’re 100% Organic and made in Hungary. I was truly impressed and each and every product she used felt wonderful and smelled sinfully delicious. I have gotten 4 facials in my life at 4 different Salons and this is by far my absolute favorite! I’ve never considered getting a facial on a regular basis but now however I’m reconsidering every 6 – 8 weeks. :) The Sugar Scrub was such a relaxing experience, exfoliating and a massage – what more could you ask for? :) I chose the ‘blueberry scented soufflé’ scent and the smell was extremely delightful and not to sound cheesy it made me feel so good I smiled. Afterwards that scent stays with you. LOVEIT! My skin has never been softer or felt so incredible. Thank you so much Marian for a job well done and making this customer as happy as could be. Good job Pure NV and please give Marian a pat on the back for a job well done, she deserves it!!! :)

The only reason this review gets 2 stars is because the actual quality of my mani/pedi was excellent; everything else was not so. First of all, when I walked in on a sunny Saturday morning I was«greeted» by two stone-faced girls that offered no hello or welcome whatsoever, even after I smiled and said good morning. As I hesitantly waited for my nail tech, I noticed that all but a handful of women had the same attitude. I was in the salon with my nail tech, Wendy, for over 2 hours and I think she said about 3 sentences to me the entire time. I was not offered any refreshments, even though the customer next to me was. All in all it was a very awkward and unwelcoming experience. I felt like the only way I would have been respected is if I wore fancy clothes and shoes with super model makeup and bleach blonde hair. Wake up Pure NV, it is not Birmingham you are operating in, it is Taylor. Get rid of the attitude and you can generate more repeat customers!

After reading the reviews here and the ensuing drama, I was hesitant to try this place when their $ 65 massage for $ 30 offer came up on . What the hell… I went ahead and bought 2 Groupons. On my first visit, a woman named Nancy was my massage therapist. My Groupon entitled me to a «relaxation massage» for the price, even though I could have paid more for a different type of massage. I told Nancy that my shoulders, feet and legs were always cramped and I’d like for her to focus on those areas. She went through the motions of the relaxation massage and in the end, I noticed she didn’t focus on the areas I had asked her to at all, but instead spent a little time on each area of my body for the full hour. She basically did a full-body rub-down that left me feeling nothing but tired. I didn’t feel better, that’s for sure. It was a huge letdown. I left Pure NV that day thinking«I’d be so pissed if I didn’t have a Groupon for that visit and I actually paid $ 65 to be put asleep.» I decided to treat myself to my second massage right before I started my new job. My shoulder had been especially sore lately, so I wanted to make it clear to Nancy that I needed that area to be worked out. When I got to Pure NV, I had a minor freak-out when I was told that Nancy wasn’t doing my massage but Kevin was… WHAT! A dude is doing my massage? After realizing he probably wouldn’t care about me not shaving my legs that morning, I agreed to keep my appointment and met Kevin. I let him know my last experience there was unfavorable and I’d really like some targeted massage on my shoulder and my legs. I opted for the«Therapeutic Massage» which would cost me $ 10 more. He assured me he’d take care of me and got started with the massage. It was great! He worked on my aching shoulder for about a half hour, which was heaven. He spent the other half hour on my other less-achey shoulder and my legs. There was something magical about getting exactly what I asked for. Pure NV redeemed their massage services with Kevin. I waited to use both Groupons before I wrote this review and I’m glad I did. Had I written this review after being massaged by Nancy, they would have gotten two stars. Kevin was great because he listened to me, which is imperative in massage. I’d like to add a couple things about the salon itself. It’s very easy to find, open and very welcoming. The massage room is small and could afford to be a little larger. After a massage, there is water available in the waiting area. Overall, I felt very comfortable here and would come back and pay full price for a massage.

Received an excellent haircut from Miss Chelsea! She was even nice enough to recommend a few good spots to eat. Receptionist was nice as well. Get a massage, I hear they’re great!

The fact that I’ve received hate mail on here over this review goes to show the type of people that are attracted to this place. Clearly it’s not for everyone, especially me since«Katie did all she could for you. You just look like a bitch.» This place sure isn’t the environment I want to be in.

All in one Spa&Salon and to be downriver it’s the best! I’ve been coming here it opened in 06! I Highly recomend Tiffany to cut and style your hair she’s amazing!!! I also recieved the best shampoo ever… A full head massage lasted 10 min! I love this place!!!

***I also have recieved more than one harrassing and totally out of line mean spirited message following my review. This is months after the actual review which you will see is from October and I am writing this in April. They have harrassed and insulted Amanda A too. Their mistakes and incompetence will be accompanied by personal attacks to boot apparently.*** Because they did not like the way in which I complained about my pedicure I was not offered anything in return for a pedicure that lasted under two days, which was due to poor technique. I was also told that pedicures only last two weeks when my other pedis have lasted four to six weeks. Live and learn. Just know if you ever have a problem here, it will not be in any way compensated for. Instead I was blamed and told how exactly I should have worded myself and that phone is better than email and that was the problem, not that my entire polish job was slapped on in two minutes. The customer is NEVER right here, the owner is too busy with sarcasm and feeling like he is not responsible for the workmanship of his employees. The massage therapist here was excellent. The wax job fine. The pedicure was considerably less than stellar and the customer service was wretched. They do not want happy clients, they want to make you feel like an idiot for not being satisfied with the substandard. A lot of double talk and general bad business, better salons to be had for sure. Go at your own risk and be sure to check your pedi in better lighting than they have so you can see the bubbles, I was a late appointment and they were closed by the time I realized my toes were horridly done. The heels were actually in worse shape than when I walked in and my cuticles were not pushed back so they were covered in polish. Also make sure you are not leaving for vacation the next day or anything because as they will tell you pedis are not supposed to last long and blame you after you return to town. I am not a complainer, I generally have quite positive reviews for places, especially salons and spas. Check my other reviews. I have nothing but glowing things to say about other places like Indigo Salon and Spa in Canton, Brown and Deline in Ann Arbor and VIP Nails in Riverview. All are top notch and really know what a true spa pedicure is, plus they will last longer than 2 weeks. They also have good management who care about clients and their happiness. I have never had an issue anywhere like I did at Pure NV, I am completely appalled by the way they handled it. Beware, they treated me this way. Do you really think they would treat you any differently if you had an issue? It is easy to correct a mistake but management at Pure NV did not even attempt to correct mine. That is truly bad business. I am going to warn everyone I can because in this economy, in this town who can afford to blow hard earned money down the drain?

Before I take a hiatus to California, I am here in Michigan running around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to take care of business. From finding/getting new tires to put on my truck to turn in [it’s a lease], to renewing my tabs, to meeting with my attorney twice in 6 days, to working… *sigh*…dang! I can’t leave Kolten’s hair outta control for 8 more days! His hair grows like weeds. Fast. The last time I got his cut, it needed it again 2 weeks later. Maybe I should just think of taking a class to learn how to snip boys’ hair! I called last minute to see if Ashley was working and if she had any openings. 3:30pm. Perfect! Even though we were way early, Ashley was apologizing for us having to wait. She’s the best! She asked me how short I wanted to go and if I thought a 3 would be good in the back and on the sides. His cowlicks are hilarious, and when his hair gets so long, they stick up every which way. Ashley does such a good job, working around Kolten — -he sat like a statue when she used the clippers. Then when she spritzed his hair with water and started combing it up to cut, he kept jerking around trying to see who was playing with his hair. Raisinets and a huge orange comb only kept him entertained for a lil while, and then it was up to the receptionist to win him over with her looks! $ 7 later and the cutest lil toddler-look from the best hairstylist… I’m pleased! I will see you again on Monday– one more time before leave for CA!

i had emailed pure nv with the style i wanted and amy reffered me to monikka for that particular cut. the receptionist was nice and my appointment was on time and monikka took time to look over some photos that i brought. i was really nervous because i only allow certain people to cut my hair, but once she started cutting i could tell this lady knew her stuff. my hair turned out great, just how i wanted. monikka really got down on my hair to get it just right… it cost me $ 32.oo for a wash, cut & dry. great price, fast, accurate, & friendly service. i definetly recommend this salon and will be back soon. ask for monikka shes great with long layered cuts. update! after my first visit i needed another cut before i moved to ca. monikka wasnt available so they assigned me to shelly(i believe thats her name-sorry) she was great! she really like my style of cut so i think she even put more effort into it, she was amazing and she even gave me some tips. i miss this place! and the price!!! * pros: everything! great modern atmosphere * cons: nothing.
