I love the grilled chicken wrap, but I always order it with apricot chutney instead of the balsamic glaze. Love their coleslaw but not their fries. Parking can be a challenge but is usually available around the corner if not on the block itself. Not the place for a quiet, romantic dinner; people like to bring young children to this restaurant.

Dougies is one of the best options of casual food in Teaneck. At least when it comes to the kosher market. Dougies has amazing wings and chicken poppers that have made them famous in the tri state area. The burgers are also a fan favorite, and the spare ribs are probably my favorite dish. The restaurant is a very nice environment and is a good place to bring friends or family. Pricing and portions are fair. Overall, I am a fan of Dougies.

My husband and I go there a few times a year for a treat. Usually we order the same things since their sauces tend to set our mouths on fire. The Onebelievable onion is nice and crispy and we really enjoy the pretzel chicken. We were disappointed with the Hot open turkey sandwich since it was just a cold cut sandwich. We really enjoy the various burgers they offer. I love the unlimited fountain drinks.

I love their tenderloin steak but their staff lacks a friendly atmosphere that is why they got a three

Save the Nostalgia for a BuzzFeed listicle. Not worth going. Came with my fiancée because we remembered Dougie’s from our days of yore when it was our favorite fast food restaurant as kids and teenagers. We were excited to learn they still had crayons with which to color the paper tablecloths(Seriously. Why doesn’t Le Marais do that yet? {We’re children.}) We sat down and ordered some poppers to relive our nostalgia in real time, even though we both know how to make them just as well, for much cheaper(Sauce is honey and hot sauce. That’s it, people. You can do it too.) They were pretty good, but it’s kinda hard to mess up. So we thought. My fiancée found a small bone in her poppers. Whaaaaatttt??? How does that even happen(Ed. Note: Not literal. I know how bones are to be found in chicken. I just meant that it should not be happening.)? We moved on and ordered the main. She ordered a chili burger, which she always loved(Not as much as Amsterdam Burger, but not everywhere can be Amsterdam) and I attempted to order a london broil wrap. I say attempted because I was told they don’t have wraps. No harm. All places run out of stuff. I ordered a(more expensive, and less exciting, and less not horrible for me) brisket sandwich. Imagine my surprise when I went to wash my hands and saw multiple packages of wraps just sitting there. Whaaaaaaatttttt??? Not okay. Not at all. She was disappointed by her chili burger. The chili was basically sloppy joe and the burger was smaller than she’d remembered, along with the bread being soggy.(Seriously. Not everywhere can be Amsterdam Burger.) I started to eat my sandwich and it was just not good. Who makes a brisket sandwich in a BBQ place with tomato sauce? The meat wasn’t great, and the sauce was just out of place. Was hoping for a smokey BBQ sauce(What I get for not going to our usual Smokey Joe’s). I actually sent it back after 1 or 2 bites(Something I’d never done before, because it’s really not a very nice thing to do as a rule, but was needed because I didn’t feel like spending a ton on a sandwich I just wasn’t going to eat.) The one positive of the night is they were very understanding of me sending it back, and apologized profusely and credited me completely for it, even though we ate most of the side, and a bit of the sandwich. For this, they get a second star. In short, skip it. If you want BBQ in Teaneck, Go Joe(Smokey, that is)!

I went to Dougie’s a few months ago and I was pleasantly surprised. My burger was juicy and they offer free refills on fountain sodas(something rare in kosher restaurants). The last two times I went, however, my burger was overdone, the bun is way too big for the patty, and the chicken fireslammers were overcooked and tough. Prices are good and there are still free refills, but this is not a place I’m going regularly with that quality food. It’s highly inconsistent and apparently the average meal is below average.

Dougie’s, Why do I crave you so? Why is it that our relationship has become one of not simple lust or affection but a feeling which can be more closely called reliance? Last Sunday, I saw you. I was with you. This Sunday, I was with you twice. Next Sunday, I dare say I’ll be with you again. And yet I can’t get enough. From your beef patty’d burgers to your mouthwatering poppers, my dedication to your menu lies unwavering in its singularity. Do not leave me, for I shall never forsake you. Yours truly, now and forevermore, Eli

Very good stuff. I always get the BBQ pulled meat, atomic steak slammers. And the kids get the corn dogs. Very good stuff.

Really disappointing. I typically like this place, but last night was terrible. The place was being run by a bunch of inexperienced children. Wings were not at all fresh, pastrami burger came without the pastrami, did not have wraps, brisket or grilled chicken, and sliced steak on garlic bread came on a club roll with small pieces of garlic bread on the side. When we saw that they charged us $ 3.00 for the garlic bread we didn’t order they hastily took it off the bill. 2 minutes later, the 15 year old manager came over and asked if we ate any of the slices of garlic bread(as if accusing us of maybe eating a piece of free garlic bread). Get your act together. A bunch of juvenile fools.

I’ve been to Dougie’s several times. Their chicken sandwich is very good and their spicy fries are amazing. The spicy fries are definitely a must get. I’ve also heard that their steak and burgers are delicious. They also give really good chips and salsa before your meal. They are delicious! I got the chicken fingers with some kind of apricot dipping sauce once and that wasn’t that good. The chicken was a bit tough and not very flavorful. The restaurant does tend to get very crowded, especially if you go on a Sunday. There’s no real waiting area so everyone ends up stepping on each other. The service also tends to be slow when there are a lot of people. Several times when we’ve been there, we’ve had to wait a while to get the waiter or get our check.

Walked into this kosher BBQ without knowing what to expect. Well its good I kept me expectations low. Had the grilled chicken sandwich with spicy fries. WAY overpriced and bland. Wwas served by a wannabe rapper! ridiculous! Stick with a REALBBQ place!

I go to Dougie’s for one thing: A mean, smokey, charcoal-tasting burger, medium rare, no bun(I’m a glutard, forgive me), with a side of fries and some of their delicious homemade sauces. I leave Dougies feeling one thing: Full. Okay, I feel more than that. I feel satisfied and quite pleased with the charcoal taste the burger carries with it. Do they actually grill on charcoal? I have no idea. Does the burger taste like it was just cooked outside by some dude with a mustache and a PBR with an apron spouting some stupid saying about being the«Grill Master» or something? Yes. Oh hells yes. It’s that good. The one thing Dougie’s doesn’t deliver on, however, is the sauces. In my experience, they’re either out of the sauce you want, or they forget it. The latter irritates me more than the former. I want the sauce. I ask for the sauce. GIVEMETHESAUCE. I want to dip my fries and my saucy, charcoaled burger in it. Why are you witholding sauce, Dougies? Go here. Get delicious kosher beef. And if you’re unhappy with your burger, let me know. But you won’t. Because you won’t be.* *Note: Author of post not responsible for forgotten sauces, because, well, I warned you!

I hadn’t kept kosher until a few years ago, ate lots of non-kosher BBQ over the years. So I suspect that my standards for kosher places are one star lower, thus you should be aware that I might be giving one star too many. I went on a Sunday afternoon, ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich and spicy fries. Compared to the huge pile of fries, the portion of brisket on the sandwich looked small-ish, but I ended up cutting the thing in half because I couldn’t finish it all even though I started out hungry. The ‘que was very good but could have used a little more smoke flavor and slightly less cloying BBQ sauce, but I enjoyed it very much. The bread and side slaw were good but nothing to rave about. The spicy fries were a bit disappointing; not enough spice and too much starchy coating for faux-crunch. I dipped them in Dougie’s sauce rather than ketchup to savor them. Next time, I’ll order the regular fries because they looked much better at the table next to mine. Service was a little slow, albeit warm and friendly, even thought the place was fairly empty. I enjoyed it much and will go back to try more things on the menu. But readers should not expect an exact duplication of true(non-kosher) southern BBQ. If you keep kosher, though, there aren’t many kosher BBQ options.

As the above poster mentioned, kosher food will be pricier in almost all cases. However, if you’re going out with people that keep kosher, dougies is a great place to get some classic american fare. Their burgers are generally quite good, with a selection of meats, chicken, turkey, bison, and great toppings. their onion rings are cajun fries are also pretty good, as well as their signature boneless wings(buy da sauce). the only thing I didn’t like was their jalepeno poppers(pastrami just feels weird). Their service has always been friendly and fast and have never had a serious problem.

I’m starting with Dougie’s because it’s a give in, for those who know me. When it comes to Kosher restaurants, you’ll always need to expect a few things before even walking in the door. The price is higher than what you’d expect, mainly because Kosher food is more expensive. However, there are many Kosher places like Dougie’s that will certainly deliver a memorable meal. Expect a very casual and laid back experience where even the waiters are not your average professional and service driven waiter. They simply perform the task of saying ‘What do you want’? and bring it out to you. As far as the food, that’s why there’s 4 stars by me. I personally recommend their Bowl of Chili, Fire Poppers, Ribs, Atomic Steak Slammers, Hamburgers are okay, and I just tried their latest 32 oz. Burger called the Picasso Burger. Again, Dougie’s i Picasso s an experience for the family and is certainly worth giving a shot.
