Absolutely awful. We came here because they call themselves«Shelly’s VEGETARIAN café». When we walked in, the waitress was very rude. When we asked if they served real meat in their meat dishes, she didn’t respond and walked away. A few moments later, the manager walked over to our table and asked if he could help us. We asked if they were all vegetarian options and he laughed at us and said no. As we got up to leave, the waitress and the manager both pointed and laughed at us. I always warn people about this place. Also, the place smells like cat urine and mold. Avoid at all costs. Don’t call yourself a vegetarian restaurant if your only vegetarian options are a couple salads.

Ordered a chocolate milkshake. Did not taste like chocolate. Was disgusting. They refused to do anything about it. Not sure how this place has stayed alive for so long. I guess their all-you-can-eat buffet one night a week and Sunday Bruch give the natives their kiddush/simcha fix mid-week. Meh.

My family and I love Shelly’s restaurant. We go there frequently and even use Shelly’s restaurant as the venue for special events. We have never been disappointed with the service or the food. I have ordered everything on the menu over the years and have enjoyed it all.

We originally came to Teaneck ISO a particular Vegetarian restaurant. When we looked in their window, we saw beef and chicken on their menu board. WTF? It clearly says Vegetarian. So we turned around and walked across the street to another vegetarian restaurant, Shelly’s. Shelly’s was not vegetarian vegetarian but was Kosher Vegetarian which was fine with us since we are Pescetarians but it is all sorts of very confusing even for me a member of the tribe! ;) Teaneck seems to be a center of things kosher, nail salons and bakeries. Shelly’s definitely falls into the category of being«Teaneckian.» Slightly stuck in some mid to late 20th century time warp, the décor leaves much to be desired. And I would not have been surprised if Bowser from Sha Na Na walked in the door. ;) Our server was nice and efficient though and brought us out their bread plate. The flatbread was really tasty but since I was having a sandwich, I passed on the risen bread. I ordered a veggie wrap and subbed in multi grain bread with a side of pickled cucumbers. The side dish had a lot of dill and I am not a big fan of the dill but whatev. Sometimes you just have to roll with the punches. The sandwich probably would have been better as a wrap but I do not like wraps unless they are called burritos. Yes, I never said I was not fussy. The mozzarella was not freshly made like it would be elsewhere perhaps and the whole thing was rather bland. Just because it is Kosher does not mean it has no flavor. Aside from the novelty of finding this type of restaurant we left underwhelmed and a bit disappointed. Shelly’s is just not our cup of tea, Pescatarian or not. 2.5770 stars rounded up because I best do that. A tribe but of a different sort(my husband’s not mine :)): PS I have since found out that the other restaurants«meat» offerings were mock meats. Duh.
