Good quality food! We ordered the chicken neck, hearts, intestine, skin, breast & thigh. Place is small but cozy. Didn’t give it full 5 stars coz parking there can be a hassle. Thankfully there was 1 more slot available for us. Customer service is great!

My boyfriend and I really liked it here. This location has a very authentic Japanese feel to it and it’s very small and intimate. Majority of the skewers are about 2.60 each, but they also have appetizers, ramen, and more. The employees are very sweet, friendly, and accomodating. We had the chicken tail skewers, which were very good and juicy. I would also recommend trying the fried soft shelled shrimp, shitake mushrooms, chicken heart(really tender and juicy), fried pig feet, Sautéed Tripe and Chinese Chives, and there was this chicken skewer called sasame(i hope i spelled it correctly) which was very tender, moist, juicy, and delicious! They also have a great selection of beer and sake, which goes well with the skewers!

Awesome little spot. Really enjoyed it. Felt like I was at some hole in the wall in the city. A little pricey because the portions are small and the plates add up, but great food.

Wow. Maybe there’s a portal outside Yakitori 39’s door, because I swear I was in Japan for dinner that night. Everything from the quaint and polite waitress to the wooden Japanese architecture and paintings convinced me that i’d traveled through a worm hole. The Tapas were on point, very well prepared and priced reasonably. The mushrooms, wings and pork belly are to kill for. I ate and ate till I couldn’t anymore, washed it down with some plum sake, and descended back to reality when I left. Definitely surprising to find this level of authenticity in Teaneck. Definitely going back [until I can find the time to actually visit Japan]

One of my favorite places. I always get the hatsu, porkbelly and galic yakitori, and the duck avocado salad.

Authentic Japanese Yakitori place. Tori is bigger than what you would have in Japan. I only had Shio-Aji yakitori but all were good. Many authentic apperizers to beging with. They have good selections for Shime like Ramen, Ochazuke, and Onigoro. Sake and Japanese beer selections are pretty good for NJ.

I’ve been here three times and will keep coming back. Their skewers are so. freaking. delicious. On my first visit there, I was a little skeptical with the menu. I am not Japanese so I’m not as accustomed to the food, I’ve only ever really been brave enough to have sushi. I followed some suggestions from other reviews and ordered the momo(chicken thigh) and on one occasion when they had it for a short time, short rib. Let me tell you– those were to die for. I keep wishing they’ll bring back the short rib because it was SOGOOD! I go back for the momo each time, it is such a juicy, tender and succulent meal. A few of those babies with some rice and miso soup and I’m good to go. I tried the bacon wrapped asparagus too on my last visit and it was also delicious. Give the menu a try and I promise you won’t be disappointed.

Love this place. We go there with our three children 18, 10&8 and we all eat various delicious Japanese tapas. Service is wonderful, décor is ok but the food oh the food speaks for itself. The only thing i can warn you about is that it adds up. Five people eating galore does have a price and it can hurt your pocket(it’s all relative). We go there again and again and again and will continue going there again and again… Did i say i love this place?

Tried so many things here I will have to dig deep in my memory to remember them all. First of all: This place has a very authentic feel. By that I mean it’s small and casual — like some place you’d wander into in an alleyway in Tokyo. The flavor that the imported Japanese charcoal imparts on the food is hard to describe but it is incredible. I wish I could eat everything cooked like that. Beats the flavor of a normal charcoal grill. And the quality of the free range chicken is evident. Hands down the best skewer is the chicken thigh and scallion. It is so tender and juicy and delicious. Next time I will probably order 5 of those just for myself. Another unexpected favorite for me was the shishito peppers. I thought I would be unimpressed with a bunch of little peppers on a skewer but I preferred them to the other veggie skewers and ended up ordering seconds. They are very tiny peppers, I imagined them being bigger. Other favorites were the chicken hearts, which were much more tender than expected, and the chicken skin, a little bit chewy but not inedible. It’s like crispy pure fat melting in your mouth. I reckon it’s really unhealthy. Next time I would skip: the shrimp(it was red like Spanish shrimp) and chicken liver(very gamey/irony organ flavor) Pitchers of beer are a bit pricey and the skewers are REALLY small so you can expect to spend quite a bit if you want to get full, but it’s nice to get to try many things. If I remember more of the skewers I tried(there were so many I can’t remember), I will update my review.

I’ve been heard about this store from close friends randomly so my husband and I were so excited to try at that day as first time. The first worked in, the server asked us about we have a reservation or not. We didn’t expected that so it was a bit surprised but we could seated. The restaurant itself are small. tables and counter are available. We set the table which is close to the front door and it was a bit too cold when the other customers are in and out. we asked to other server to change the seats and they are nicely offer the inside table. The food we had were pretty good! lots of choices, variety of ingredients and taste all fresh. potion was pretty amazing for us as a price as well. We’ll back to eat this place again!!!

Disappointing. Ordered fried chicken app, chicken thigh and chicken meatball skewers, and white rice. The app was great. The chicken thighs were nice and moist. The meatballs didn’t have much flavor. And the rice was a scoop of rice for $ 3. And that’s my biggest complaint. I got a few small items and paid $ 17. And was still a bit hungry after eating it.

Yakitori is a small restaurant that serves a very wide selection of skewered dishes, from different chicken legs to chicken gizzard, from pork intestines to pork belly, from fried oysters to large octopus. Each can range from 2 –6 dollars regularly. Ordering several can be very satisying. They also have appetizers and ramen. For those looking for a drink, they also serve saki, beer, and wine. Pros — friendly and helpful staff — really good food — small quiet date/get together spot Cons — not too many, maybe that it is just so small that on a busier night you will have to wait.

First time here in a while I was very shocked we got in without a reserbation, weve been turned away in the past. Brought two friends from our last apt for a dbl date. Our friends have never had yakitori– theyre hooked now! Lol. We had to start the great ngoyan wings wed get when SeikiSan was next door(tear)…great wings… and a small tuna taretare. We folliwed it w orders of grilled octopus, grilled short rib, chicken thigh w scallion, breast w wasabe, pork belly, n wing skewers. We love yaki bars… just grab a pitcher of Asahi, or a sake or shouju n go to town on those addictive as all fawk charcoal skewers. The service is always kinf n polite, despite the daunting crowd. Everythin came out perfect. Great choice to bring friends we dont see often who dont get out often n r foodies that trust Roger B n I to order n b their Asian food sherpas. Lol As always, cant wait to b back Would n a perfect review but parkings a bitch, n i think theu shoul expand to having more sushi then tartare n hamachi carpaccio.

Yakitori is a small, 5 – 6 table Japanese«tapas/small plate» restaurant in Teaneck NJ. What I love is the variety of fresh, authentic, options that are meant to tease and tantalize the pallet. The wait staff is friendly, accommodating and even they have a liquor license with limited choices(Beer and Wine). A few of my favorite dishes are: Negiama(Chicken thigh & Scallion): Tender pieces of chicken and scallions in a savory soy based sauce. Enoki Mushroom Wrapped in Bacon: Skewers of delicate, Enoki mushrooms wrapped in crispy bacon. Asparagus Wrapped Bacon: Crunchy Asparagus wrapped in a crispy piece of bacon. Fried Chicken Gizzards: Crunchy, tasty but a little too chewy. Pork Kimchi: Slivers of flavorful pork on a small patch of pickled kimchi. Miso Braised Beef Tripe: Braised Beef Tripe, in a savory miso soup broth. Salt & Pepper Calamari: Crunchy fried, calamari rings with a spicy cocktail dipping sauce. Spicy Chicken Wings: Petite chicken wings cooked in a sweet, spicy sauce.

First of all, expect you are going to pay NYC price here, I would say for 2 ppl, you will probably end up paying around $ 80~ $ 120, it’s not cheap. The Good: Appetizer items are good, the portion is quite generous, the fried tofu is probably the biggest I have ever seen in my life. The chicken porridge is huge portion, too. The price of these appetizer is actually very reasonable given the portion is very generous. The Bad: For yakitori, it’s about $ 2.6 + per skewer, you can choose you want it to be grilled with sea salt OR Japanese BBQ(teriyaki) sauce. I feel the yakitori I ordered that day really disappointed me, I chose sea salt flavor because I wanted to taste the flavor of the food itself, the yakitori skewers I had that day were just plain. One of the reasons that they are not delicious is probably because they were under-grilled, so they were just not as crispy as they should be, If you are going to order chicken skin or the intestine, make sure you told them you need«extra crispy», otherwise the chicken fat attached to the skin will make you feel very hard to chew and swallow. I always order chicken skin while going to the yakitori place, but this could be the worst I ever had. I was also very disappointed to the grilled octopus($ 4 /each), it looked like it was not grilled at all. Conclusion: If I have ever returned, I will probably just order appetizer items, because i feel the yakitori is over priced and it wasn’t that great.

Was contemplating 3 or 4 stars but decided to opt down. Yakitori places are extremely difficult to find. If anything, I think this is the only yakitori place I can think of in New Jersey. Food prices are fair, albeit slightly more than NYC prices(correct me if I’m wrong as I haven’t had much yakitori as of late). In addition, this establishment is one of the few places that has a liquor license, and they take advantage of that fact; their beer prices are certainly on the higher end. That extra $ 1 sure keeps me from drinking that second or third draft. We wish we had some of the duck but unfortunately was not entirely comfortable spending $ 7 per skewer the last time we week. Perhaps next time, but their chicken was satisfactory(though I was really wanting the gizzard, which they were out of when I was there). Service was a little slow as they mentioned that some food(particularly the grilled onigiri and ramen) was going to take about 30 minutes. That’s fine, and all, but sometimes«slow» does not mean«missing». And unfortunately, the ramen was certainly not worth the wait. The broth was too thick, too collagen-y, certainly lacking that thick and extra fatty pork belly slice all ramen places offer.

Probably the best Yakitori place in NJ. I would even say that it’s better than many NY places. They use free range chicken parts for their yakitori and you can tell the quality of the meat is definitely different. It’s tender, moist and there’s no rotten smell that comes from bad chicken meat just drenched in sauce. It’s very crowded so please do make a reservation and get there early if you can. They do have a good list of alcohol(sake, sochu and Japanese IPA) and that’s all you need to get yourself drunk on good food and spirits. Sunagimo(gizzard), Reba(liver), Negimune(breast & scallion) and Tsukuen(chicken meatball) are among the favorites and they do offer chicken heart(Hatsu) which a delicacy on its own. Add grilled garlic and pepper, and fried calamari to your meal along with Tebasaki(nagoya style) fried chicken wings. WOW. Amazing. You will have a good time no matter what here. It’s cozy, neighborhood joint that would surprise you.

Service is fantastic, they really work hard ensyring that you get what you ordered to your table. If you like tappas, you will love Yakitori. They have the typical meat on the stick as well as some other not so familiar dishes like fried soft bone(cartilage) from various chicken parts as well as friedbchicken gizzards. Another is fried pig feet which is not bad if you enjoy the skin, not much meat, a lot of bone. My favorite was the duck breast and avocado salad. Any chicken skewer, any skewer was fantastic. The chicken meatball is also something interesting. We truly enjoyed our meal and had their deserts as well. The crème brûlée was a little runny, I like it a little more solid but still tasty. The apple compote(in hot red wine) with vanilla ice cream was very good and extremely interesting flavour. Everything was very good, place is packed. Remeber they require resevations as it is a small restaurant. I also think they only open for dinner, closed Mondays. No parking lot but plenty of street parking.
