The restaurant was half empty and apparently the servers can’t handle a table of seven since they didn’t want to sit us. We waited 15 minutes before a second receptionist(that’s right bro, your a receptionist) asked us how big our party was for the second time. I’ve been here before and the food definitely isn’t worth giving this place a third chance.

We visited Don Perico for their famous taco Tuesday. Tacos are only $ 1.25. They have a taco bar set up with your choice of ground beef, steak, chicken or shredded pork, the toppings if cheese & salsa are self serve. The tortillas are fresh made in in frond of you, we also opted for table side guacamole & their happy hour margaritas. Delicious! Tip: Come early on Tuesdays because there can be a wait on this popular night.

Working out of town, was told to try this place, especially for taco tuesday. Looked it up on Unilocal and thought, «I don’t know…» Decided to ask the hotel receptionist a good place for mexican food and this was the place she recommended. So I thought, well, guess I’ll give it a try. It was Taco Tuesday and it was crowded. Luckily for me, I was eating all by my lonesome, so I got to sit at the bar right away. They gave me a lil taco ticket which you use at the taco bar they have set up to keep track of how many tacos you’ve eaten. They hand make the tortillas for you right there in front of you. You get your choice of 4 meats, and toppings of cheese, lettuce, and pico de gallo. You also have 3 salsas to choose from. I had 8 tacos(they’re small), each kind of meat twice with all the salsas and toppings. Everything was GREAT!!! Food was extremely fresh, the tasty, and cheap. I believe the tacos are $ 1 a piece. I had two pints of beer and 8 tacos, came out to $ 19 and some change, without tip. I also got free chips and salsa. I definitely feel I got my money’s worth. Bartenders/waitresses were very friendly, helpful and attentive. For how busy they were, they always asked if I was ok. There is only one bartender too, though another was in training. This is definitely a place worth trying. I don’t know if these other reviews are old and they changed management/ownership or what. But I’m glad I went against my usual Unilocal rule and tried this place out. It was awesome. As long as I’m working out here, I’ll prolly be going here on Tuesdays. Keep in mind, if you have a group that needs a table(ie not sitting at the bar), call ahead to make reservations. There were a lot of people waiting at around 545/6pm.

Good service, friendly staff, average food. I ordered enchiladas, okay but the same as you would find in most places, my wife ordered carne asada tacos and said she was disappointed.

Worst Mexican food I’ve probably ever had. I’ve had bad before, but this is worse. 8 chips to go with your tablespoon of salsa. If you order a beverage make sure you flag your waitress down and ask for a refill, otherwise you won’t get one. I had to ask for a refill every time my glass was obviously empty and this was before dinner had even arrived. Maybe at Don P’s you should eat your dinner without a beverage? I don’t know why I submit myself to this ridiculousness. People foolishly put up with it and somehow I get suckered in thinking«maybe things have changed». Don’t get suckered like me. I look forward to the days of decent chain restaurants coming to town. Chili’s or Applebee’s would be a nice addition to the dismal Mexican and sushi restaurants.

0(ZERO) stars but i had to give at least one to post this review, this place was Crap! First lets start off with the waitress… fuckin rude! Guacamole … Crap, bland Shrimp cocktail tasted like shit My ceviche horrible, consisted of only shrimp(which was still raw) onions and lemon juice… 90% onions!!! There was no tomatoes, cucumber or cilantro Wifes taco shell is the kind you get out of a grocery store box. My son in law ordered a steak… when it came he tried to cut into it and noticed it had melted plastic wrap around the whole thing(which could only mean one thing… cooked in the microwave)!!! I will never again eat at this fuckin place!!!

Straight to the point– Food: I ordered the chimichanga beef and it was served with pico de gallo, guacamole, and sour cream in little disposable plastic cups. The chimichanga itself looked okay if not a bit on the small side compared to what I’ve had elsewhere. It tasted good but it wasn’t spectacular. I’d say it was pretty average though presentation needs some work(the disposables just made it look sad) and the pico de gallo needs help(it didn’t look/taste very fresh). Service: Our server was polite, got the orders correct, and kept up with water, chips and salsa. Not spectacular but on par. Environment: The restaurant was cool, had comfortable seating, with comfortable noise levels, and clean. It was relaxing but then again we went at an odd hour. Would I come again?: Probably. It’s comfortable, convenient, and the food and service were decent.

Everything they serve taste like it came out from the frozen section of Albertsons. They show UFC and have alright beer prices so that’s why it’s getting three stars.

My daughter and I went there for dinner and had their halibut ! It was cooked to perfection and priced fairly. It’s surprising that a Mexican Restaurant would offer and prepare such a good fish dinner. I can’t wait to go back and order again.

We had the combination fajitas, and the enchilada and taco plate. The food was hot, the meat in the fajitas was seasoned wonderfully. The shredded beef in my taco was excellent. This is definitely my favorite Mexican place in Tehachapi.

Pretty ok stuff. Greasy table. Chips and salsa. That sort of thing. I’m pretty happy here. I’d eat it again. Got the picado steak. Not the best. But every one else’s food looked pretty good. The chicken salad looked the best. Great work Jim.

When out of town, my husband always likes to eat where the locals eat. We spotted the Sheriffs car in the parking lot and figured this place was alright. Very friendly staff and decent food.

Seated right away, drinks right away, then it seems everyone went on break. Once we got our order placed and went thru 4 baskets of chips until our chili con Queso arrived. It was odd as a bunch of cheese melted over a ranchero salsa… But it was actually EXCELLENT… Akward to eat without a knife and fork. I ordered the Enchaladas carnitas. super tender and flavorfull sauce amazing. they really need to work on service. but other then that its okay. Not my favorite in Tehachapi.
