Such reasonable ticket prices! Comfortable seats, friendly employees. Always willing to support local fundraisers– a real asset to a small town like Tehachapi.

Great small theater, right here in Tehachapi. Not sure how they manage to get so many films on four screens, but everything we want to see shows up right on time. Prices are great, all the staff are local kids and if you treat them like humans, they’re friendly as can be.

This theatre is great quality for a good price. I grew up with this theatre and it has the good small town movie theatre experience without breaking the bank. Go to their website to get discount coupons.

This movie theater is cute and cheap. And to top it of the chairs are comfy and who doesn’t love 1 dollar hot dogs!

I appreciate being able to go see movies on the big screen and enjoy snacks for reasonable price. Live long and prosper, Hitching Post!

The fact that Mr. Will Viner allows patrons to write a review on the Hitching post theatre is very impressive.
However I have attended this theatre and on several occasions have had both projection and sound problems on different occasions.
His answer to upset customers is totally unsatisfactory. Its a policy employed at small used car dealerships.
For many years I supplied exhibition equipment to virtually all theatre chains as well as independants through out the country. No! things don’t go wrong occasionally.
It’s up to the projectionist to make sure the equipment is working properly.
Mr Will Viner is obviously trying to keep operating cost down by hiring unqualified projectionist.
Since his equipment malfunctions occasionally, you would think he would have a MONEY BACK policy when it does.
I read his article on 3D and new digital projection equipment cost. Happy customers would be willing to pay a little more for a good professional non interrupted presentation.
A good presentation is the reason many Tehachapians go all the way into Bakersfield to see a movie.
Or perhaps Mr. Will Viner prefers not to pay attention to unsatisfied patrons and keep his current policy.
In that case Mr. Will Viner should change his name to Mr. Will Screw you.

Ok I know Tehachapi is a small town but it was unreal to us that we could get 2 movie tickets and snacks + drinks for all under $ 20. The only reason I ticked off a star was because the actual theater room was so dark and there were no lights on the walkway so it was really hard for us to find seats; a bit of a hazard on my opinion! Otherwise, the place was clean and cheap!

Had a great time here for Halloween! Saw «The Claw» and «The Fly» double feature! Great deal for $ 10 including bottomless popcorn and soda!

Good theater, great price. If you want DBox or reclining leather chairs for your movie experience, you have those options either direction on Hwy 58. Remember… you’re paying upwards of $ 20 per ticket for that «experience», folks.
For me, I would much rather enjoy a nice walk through downtown Tehachapi, have a nice meal somewhere in the immediate area and end the day with a first-​run movie. You can’t beat it. Glad this option is in town.

They just upgraded the seats and sound system. However they need to fix a couple of speakers as they are blown and sound terrible. Ruins movies for me. Not all the theaters have bad sound only 2 of them.

Good price and I like the updated chairs and space between rows, but the sound is terrible at the back (I can hear crackling and buzzing almost the whole movie) and the light everytime the door opens is really distracting.

More like a 3.5. Good theatre for this small town. Prices and snack bar items are good as well. Only issue I have is that the sound is too low… during every movie I’ve watched here. Interferes with the movie going experience. Turn up your speakers, Hitching Post, and I’ll turn up your Unilocal review.

The theater was resently updated. Digital projectors, sound upgrade, and new chairs. The prices are great. Wonderful theater. Remember this is a theater in a town of aproxmently 7,000 to 10,000 people. Geat job and please keep doing what you are doing.

I was here in August for Tehachapi’s chalk on the walk and ended up watching «we are the millers» here, Funny movie! The theater is small and has an old town feel but it’s nice and i would go again for the price.
To the many young ladies I noticed in the revealing and distasteful clothing, if a guy wants to talk to you, he will talk to you even if your butt is in your pants!

Tehachapi is very lucky to have Hitching Post Theaters. They have a great movies, reasonable prices and a very nice facility. The staff is friendly and welcoming. It is so nice to have quality entertainment without having to drive 45 minutes. Tuesday family fun day is an amazing deal and they have great coupons for other good deals as well. If you want to have cool stuff in Tehachapi you need to patronize those who offer it and keep them open!

I went to this theater and during the last part of the movie the sound went out, which made us miss the most important part of the movie… finding out what happened! We asked for our ticket money to be refunded and the people at the theater refused, saying we had to contact the owner. I wrote a letter to the theater owner and this was their unbelievable response.

Our technical issues are no more frequent than any other theater. These things happen when you deal with machines. Are we perfect, certainly not. Do glitches happen, absolutely. Does your car or computer work properly 100% of the time… doubtful.
We are aware of the length of time the sound was out and I can assure you, during those several minutes the portion of the dialogue missed was not critical to the story.

WHAT!!! It was the end of the movie where you find out what happened. I couldn’t believe the response. Absolutely horrible public relations. What a dick!!!
Be forewarned that this is the type of ownership that you are patronizing when you go to this theater. I’ll be seeing movies elsewhere. In today’s tech world to have this be the response to their failings is inexcusable.

Okay, after a few emails back and forth, this guy is clearly not understanding what «the customer is always right» really means. My friend, who was with me, wrote him an email and complained. After his initial horrible response, here is what she wrote to him… and his response follows that.

Well, Mr. Viner, I can assure you that the many, many other customers there would disagree with you, and in fact, that portion of sound that was missing at that time was very much germane to the story. And, I really don’t care about your philosophical thoughts on perfection. In terms of customer service, the Hitching Post falls far short. And whether you care or not, because of this attitude, I will not be returning. One customer may not make a difference, but in a small town, word of mouth advertising, whether positive or to the contrary, can be important. So there will be at least 4 people that will not be returning to your theater. Have a very good day.

We have very successfully operated over 18 years in Tehachapi serving hundreds of thousands of customers during that time. The vast majority of Tehachapi residents seem quite happy with our operation and show it by frequenting us often for many, many years.
I hope that the other theaters you will be attending will be able to live up to your standards.

This was such a cool little theater. At a time when you almost have to refinance your home just to go to a movie it was refreshing to pay $ 6 for a first run movie. Movie night out with my girl for less than $ 25? AWESOMENESS!
I even loved that all the patrons seemed to know each other and were friendly and engaging with us before the show. That never happens anymore.
I wouldn’t go see some CGI intense flick there because the screens are on the small side, but anything else would be fine.
We are definitely going to make this place a regular part of our date nights.
