Walked into the Restaurant at 12:00pm and only 3 people in the place. I should have listened to my gut instinct. However, after skipping breakfast my gut had conflicting reports… The Honey Chicken Wings were bad. The Sesame Chicken was worse. Both sauces tasted almost exactly alike, and they both weren’t good. They do give you a lot of food, but not worth it. I couldn’t eat half of it. I will not be back here for sure. The ambiance inside is cool. Ma and Pop hole in the place type of place. I got my food to go, but if they had good food, I would come back and dine in.

Hunan Chicken is amazing, fried chicken mixed with chinese cuisine. Couldn’t eat everything unfortunately as they have large portions, but the food was excellent. Not something I would’ve gone to if it weren’t for recommendations. Glad I am always up to try new things because this was excellent.

Made the mistake of ordering some soup from these clowns using Grub Hub. So, an hour later the delivery guy(some kid) knocks on the door with the soup, but he doesn’t have any change for a twenty. So, I tell the kid that when he’s making deliveries he needs to have change for a twenty, and you what the kid tells me? He says; «GO F*CKYOURSELF» and walks aways with the soup. NIce…

This food is really good compared to the rest of these types of restaurants in my area. They have the best wonton soup EVER!!!

Amazing food, extremely large variety, and to die for General Tso’s. It’s cheap and there’s always leftovers, so I love visiting.

I hate leaving disappointing reviews. The food was bland and not worth the $ 20 I paid. It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes for the food to arrive and I live 3 miles down the road. Kung Pao chicken was not spicy and bland, pepper beef had absolutely no flavor and didn’t look great when it arrived, and egg drop soup was more like chicken noodle soup and did not have the same flavor I’m used to. I was craving Chinese food but I was pretty disappointed when it arrived. The delivery guy was super sweet though so I feel bad about the negative review.

Wow, this place was DE-LIC-IOUS! I am giving 5 stars because of their FREAKINGAWESOME lunch special. $ 6.00 and the to-go container was practically bursting at the seams. I ordered the Hunan Chicken lunch special, which came with some pretty delicious chicken, a side of beef with broccoli(which was my favorite part!), some chow mein(I think) with noodles and mushrooms(didn’t eat the chow mein because of the mushrooms — blech) and white rice. It also came with a can of soda and a fortune cookie, all for $ 6.00 even. Can’t beat that! The wait was maybe 5 – 7 minutes and worth every minute. It appears this is run by a family and everyone was so nice. The next time I am in the area I will be back to try the other yummy looking items. Maybe next time I can get it no mushrooms. Loved this place!

If you do not want food poisoning, then do not eat here. The person I was with had to call out of work at 2AM due to vomiting for a half hour straight from take out. I will never order from this place ever again. Save yourself the money, sleep and hopefully your stomach.

It’s okay. Not horrible, but not notable either. We loved our ‘go to’ Chinese place in the south suburbs of Chicago, so we were looking for a new place here in Tempe. A friend suggested Hunan, so we decided to give it a try. Nothing compares with the awesomeness of Chicago food, so I guess we already realized it wouldn’t live up to our standards. Ordered: crab puffs, steamed potstickers, teriyaki chicken combo & orange chicken a la carte. Crab puffs should really be called cream cheese puffs. Tasted no crab. Just 3 big blobs of cream cheese stuffed inside fried wonton wrappers, which came with 2 sauce cups of sweet & sour sauce. It was okay, just felt like false advertising to say they taste like crab even remotely. Potstickers were okay. Nothing to write home about. Pretty bland overall. Sauce they came with redeemed them only slightly. Won’t order them again. Teriyaki chicken was ‘meh’. Not too flavorful, and not something we’ll order again. It came with an egg roll, which was good. It also came with egg flower soup. Not the best I’ve ever had, and I didn’t finish it. Too many ‘random’ vegetables. I guess I’m used to straight egg drop soup(which is my favorite soup). I’ll try the orange chicken tomorrow as it was in the leftovers we put in the ice box.

This place has been here since I was in high school and I still go here whenever I have cravings for some good Chinese food. The two people who work or run the place there know who I am because of the amount of times I’ve been there. They are very nice people and run a nice little place. They offer a lot of items on the menu anything ranging from fried rice, chicken, shrimp entrees, and appetizers such as crab puffs. There is really only one thing I get and that is the Hunan Special Chicken with fried rice. I think it comes out to be under $ 10. So, not bad at all. The Hunan Special Chicken is a lightly battered chicken with their special sauce. I usually go light on the sauce and add some hot oil to the fried rice. Man, it always comes out like the best chinese food I’ve ever had. They give out really generous portions and trust me you won’t leave not feeling full. You basically feel like you’re going into a food coma, lol. I usually order the Hunan Special Chicken as stated above, but have tried other items such as general tso’s chicken, house fried rice, crab puffs, and their fried shrimp. All are very good. I wasn’t disappointed. All in all of all the times I came here there hasn’t been anything that has bothered me. It is basically a small chinese shop with very polite people who love to serve you their food. Anytime I’m craving that chicken, I will certainly be here because it is one of the best in my opinion!

We have been dining here for about a handful of years. More often than not, this mum and pop shoppe’s been consistent with delivering great customer service… And food that are tastier than Panda Express! No. This place is not perfect for everybody. However, this works for us — price, location, customer service, consistency, and food variety! ^_^

Hands down the BEST crab puffs I’ve ever had. I’m comparing this to the many Chinese places I’ve been to in San Francisco and LA and OMG it’s heavenly explosions of creamy cheesy fried goodness! I’ve had their fried race and it’s pretty delicious and they gave big portions. I’m not sure why they’re not rated higher. I mean, this is a hole in the wall, not a fancy family restaurant or anything. Lack of ambiance, but it’s really cheap, good eats. Egg rolls are good too :)

«Hunan chicken is the number one seller here.» That was the beckon that was Unilocaled at me by the manager. It was easy enough to walk into this store front strip mall setting restuarant. Nothing fancy but it did look clean. And the menu on the wall had over 40 items to choose from. And he had the fact that I really love Chinese food and that there is no place yet that i have found in a reasonable distance from Tempe Beach Park that offers a homestyle Chinese meal experience all in his favor. I heeded the call. I got a wonton soup, eggroll, and Hunan Chicken as suggested. But OHHHH. The disappointment. To be clear. This food knows how to take a picture. Indeed I took several before digging in to share with you all. Complete posing material, but not so wonderfully edible. Sadness shook me with my first spoonful of soup. Why did i refuse to believe the other elite member who rated this place with one star? Why can I not resist the looks of a well disguised mutallated chicken in sauce? I want to tell you that if you have had Chinese food just about anywhere else, you will not be pleased with this option. No matter how sexy they can package it. Sorry. Just don’t waste your time and $ 10.

I love horrendous food and I love food poisoning too. In case you didn’t catch that sarcasm I was referring to what I experienced the other day while eating take-out from Hunan Express. Convenient delivery but that’s where the accolades end. I will stick with Mr. Hunan as a quick, tasty take-out option. The lowdown: *Dumplings are the frozen kind not made with dumpling skin but rather some weird, thick dough and deep fried. It was served on top of tons of white rice. *Kung-Pao shrimp was nothing but a bunch of diced celery, peppers and peanuts in a brown sauce. Few shrimp. Really disgusting. *Egg drop soup was okay but not homemade. *Lo-mein was soggy and a bit skeevy looking. *Cheap soy sauce that tastes like nothing and teeny egg rolls. Portions were huge but when the food is gross it is basically pointless, it’s like they were trying to disguise how bad the food was by giving us a huge amount. Hey look tons of food! It’s like when Homer Simpson kept eating at Doughy’s even though it was terrible but was 2 for 1.
