Over Easy’s Tempe location is okay, but maybe not the best. Service was just okay. The food was pretty good(one of us got corned beef hash and the other an omelet) and freshly made and delivered to the table hot. Coffee was good. The building sports big windows so the sun was beating in a little too hard(it was a little warm and quite bright). It’s definitely not a bad place for breakfast, but also does not stand out. Reasonable food for a reasonable price. I would neither stay away nor would I go far out of my way to rush back…

We waited over 15 minutes to be seated at an empty table. We then waited over ten minutes for our waitress to arrive, let me clarify this is an extremely small restaurant and there were several servers. Once we ordered coffee we waited over ten minutes for her to return. The coffee was horrid, so bitter we almost couldn’t drink it. I ordered the burrito with ham and onions, 30 minutes after we ordered the waitress came back to make sure my order was correct, I informed her what she said was not correct, she then said she would go to the kitchen to make sure it was made right. Low and behold I get my burrito with the incorrect ingredients and missing key elements. The two other people that were with me had food that was ice cold and chicken and waffles that were definitely refried several times. The next time the waitress returned was with the bill, not even to check and see how the food was. After over an hour of our experience the table behind us had still not received our food, and they were sat long before us. Avoid this place if you want any kind of service and decent food.

To start off our Breakfast dining experience we were told that they ran out of coffee, so no coffee. That should have been our first clue. We had at least 3 servers, one took our drink order, one took our food order and another delivered our food. It appeared that none of them were interested in being there. I ordered the wild mushrooms, herbs with eggs. The plate came with at least 8 oz of mushrooms spread all over my eggs. No sign of any herbs. It was not very appetizing to even look at it. My husband had corn beef and eggs. The corn beef was ok but the toast was barely toasted. I have been to the Over Easy in Gilbert and it was good. But we will never be back to the any of their locations. Too bad, we are always looking for great Breakfast Places.

This the third time ive been here and they’ve run out of coffee. I qould come more often if i could bring a starbucks or something with me. The swrver was very good however the food comes out for each oerson at different times. Im done before my granddaughter gets her food and we all know never feed a kid first. That way they can complain and be unhappy. Tried this place 5 times … never again

Had to update my review. This place went from great to average in a short amount of time. I have been going here almost every weekend for months. My last two experiences have not been good. On one, they were out of bacon, and instead of hash browns, they served potatoes sliced that were undercooked and tasteless. On the other, I recognized that the hash browns were not cooked properly, and the bacon(which was amazing in the past) had changed. There is also a significant drop off in the service. My pancake arrived when I was almost finished with my meal, and not once did they offer to refill my coffee. You can watch, what appears to be the manager, working away at the counter on a laptop, and never lift one hand to help when it’s busy. I feel they are understaffed, have resorted to inferior ingredients, and basically will not survive if they continue with average food and service, when there are so many options. My weekend breakfast spot is going back to NCounter, even though it’s a bit farther walk, have never been disappointed there. Wanted Over Easy to kill it since it’s so convenient to where I live, but instead, I think it’s already dead.

I live a few blocks away and I love breakfast, so I’m really pulling for this place to get their act together. This review is aimed squarely at management. I want your restaurant to survive! Stop making this so hard! I’ve gone to the Farmer’s Ave Over Easy three times. Each visit was on a Sunday. Each visit it wasn’t particularly busy. 1) The food is pretty solid. That’s why I’m pulling for them to right this ship. 2) Both times the service has been beyond bad. Despite us each time being the server’s only table, we couldn’t get a drink refill to save our lives. The servers all look particularly unhappy and miserable. Perhaps the manager isn’t easy to work with, but they drop off your first round of drinks, and then you’re left to literally wave them down each time you want more diet coke or water. I had to wave down our waitress three times this last Sunday to get a refill on my diet coke(the cups are very, very small.) The waitresses are all behind the large counter and they seem to be more preoccupied with counting receipts, or wrapping silverware, or being on their phones. They don’t look up. They don’t even talk to each other. They look pretty unhappy to be at Over Easy. 3) This last visit I went to order an omelet and the waitress told me they were out of bacon and ham. Pretty much the only thing more ridiculous for a breakfast place to be out of would be eggs. It’s bacon and ham! That’s like half your menu, gone! Honestly, if I didn’t know better, I would think they’re trying to make this place go out of business. The food isn’t as good as Tempe favorite NCounter, but Over Easy is at least as good as Tempe’s Snooze. The difference is that a) Snooze hasn’t run out of bacon and ham, and b) Snooze’s servers apparently don’t hate their jobs.

I truly hate this place and am sorry that this building has to live with the existence of such a crap establishment. I’ve been to the Over Easy in far east Mesa and love the food, and have never had a bad cup of coffee there. The service is awesome making the overall experience really great. We thought we’d give this place a spin and after talking it up to my boyfriend, we skipped our usual visit to Snooze and went to this god awful trainwreck of a restaurant. The restaurant was a bit busy when we got there, so we waited a few minutes to be seated and once we were seated we waited. And waited. And waited. Several staff passed by our table, no one engaging, asking if we’d been helped, just minding their own business not concerned with a table that isn’t theirs. I get it, you’re busy, someone else is supposed to be covering this table but they’re not. But. What is so hard about stopping at a table that has no drinks, no silverware, nothing to indicate that the customers have been approached and ask them HAVEYOUBEENHELPED? One of the waitstaff had the balls to make direct eye contact with me as he was passing our table without saying a word. I mean what? It was infuriating to be passed over so many times without once being approached with a simple«have you been helped?» That’s all someone had to to do. The inattentive behavior of the staff showed me that either management didn’t train the staff to take a team approach to customer service or that they had just hired staff who weren’t interested in taking the team approach. After 10 minutes of this, we decided to leave because obviously no one wanted to take ownership of our table. I asked the hostess to speak to the manager and she said that the manager wasn’t there and instead directed me to one of the waitstaff who may or may not have been in charge. This totally disinterested staffer gave me half of her attention as I told her what happened and why we were leaving. Instead of apologizing, even though it wasn’t her fault(or maybe it was if she was in charge), she gave me two coupons for a free breakfast sandwich good at that location only. A) Why would I come back? B) How low rent are you? and C) GIRLPLEASE R U SERIOUS? What a waste of a perfectly good retail/restaurant space.

First time at this location and it was just as good as all the rest. Great selection of yummy breakfast treats. The Yard has a parking situation, so be forewarned — it’s crowded! Ride your bike over or walk and you’ll be happy enough. The food is so so good. Think light and fluffy pancakes, sweet pumpkin bread French toast, and flavorful loco moco. Service is stellar and the selection of morning beverages is perfect. Loved it.

I have gone here twice and had two very different experiences. The first time I went was when they first opened. This place allows you to sit where you want and has a very laid back atmosphere. The décor is the mix of industrial with a classic kitchen twist. The tap water isn’t the best so make sure you get a good drink while you are there. the cold brew is a little expensive for the price, the assorted juices were a better choice for us. The food seems very hit or miss. The first time we went, we had the chicken fried steak, biscuits and reeses pieces pancakes. All of the food was absolute perfection. The second time we went, we had the eggs Benedict and the ham steak as well as the biscuits. The biscuits this time were very dry and didn’t resemble the ones we had on opening weekend. I’m not sure if they changed the recipe or if it’s a new cook but I was a little disappointed. The eggs Benedict had a very different sauce than what I’ve had on eggs Benedict before. It was very bland and also disappointing. Lastly, my fiancé had egg shells left in his eggs, which was unpleasant. I would love to give this place a higher rating but I think the food quality has gone down. I’m hoping that it was just an off day because I did love their food. If you are going to try anything get the chicken fried steak for sure.

Did not have a positive experience. Took food 45 minutes(3 cups of coffee) to get food and then biscuits and gravy not good at all. Other food average. Seemed to be sitting under hear lamp for awhile. Few hard workers with other staff seemed to be just standing around. 1st time here and place seems to be all ‘fluff’ with no real intentions to provide a great breakfast.

Husband and I were on our way to one of our fav breakfast places and decided to be spontaneous and try somewhere new. We found Over Easy on Unilocal and didn’t even realize it was part of The Yard in Tempe! I’ve been to The Yard in Phoenix and absolutely loved it so I had hopes for this one as well. As someone who has worked in the food service industry as a server for numerous years I feel like I let things slide because I know how crazy things can get sometimes. This was unfortunately not the case at Over Easy. The hostess took our name down and gave us the standard 10 – 15 minutes. It was not busy, and we were the only people waiting to be seated, there were a couple of tables that were open, and I figured the hostess was giving the server in that section a little time between tables. Standard stuff in the restaurant biz, and totally understandable. We perused the rest of the facility for maybe 2 minutes and then returned to the seating area. Another couple walked in and she told them she would seat them in a second. She then seated them immediately completely disregarding us, so of course I stood up right next to the host stand, she realized she had messed up and sat us at the next table she could. Oh did I mention she was smacking her gum? I know it’s a lax environment but gum smacking is just unprofessional, period. Our server was sweet and probably the only redeeming part of our experience. Food was average. And although I appreciate servers taking plates away, we weren’t completely done eating one of the plates that was taken. The last part was what sealed the deal for me. A large party was then waiting to be seated and a couple of tables around us had gotten up, it was pretty obvious that they were going to seat them and just needed our table, again, we were not done eating yet, and the hostess comes over and starts taking everything off our table, including water cups, coffee, everything. Then says«sorry» when I tell her I’m not finished. Still smacking her gum by the way. I’m sad we had such a crumby experience and will definitely not be back to Over Easy. I typically love Fox Concepts restaurants, but this one has fallen short. :(

I’ve been to this location a few times now and it was worth going back to, although nothing worth writing home about. One thing did really bother me though. Read below. Likes: great atmosphere, basic breakfast items, reasonable prices. Dislikes: pumpkin French toast is too sweet and mushy, normal problems with service that will come with any new restaurant but I wouldn’t hold that against them until they are a few months into it. Here is what really bothered me though. They advertise their pancakes and French toast as coming with real maple syrup. Anyone who knows real maple syrup knows how big of a difference that makes and how rare it is to get that. I grew up with real maple syrup know how much better it makes pancakes or French toast. I ordered French toast and confirmed with my waitress that it came with«real maple syrup». As soon as I got my French toast and«real maple syrup» I knew the consistency was wrong. It had a little bit of the right taste but not the real thing. I was extremely disappointed. Then my suspicions were confirmed when I saw another waiter pouring syrup into the containers that they serve at the table. He was mixing two different syrups. 30% real maple syrup and the rest cheap crappy corn syrup. They are lying on their menus and it’s not okay.

Went here for breakfast with my daughter this morning. I had been to the one in Gilbert several times and liked it. The restaurant itself is cute. We just walked in and sat down and were waited on quickly. We got the Over Easy iced coffee, which is flavored with cinnamon, cardamom and mint, and it was delicious, and you get a large glass of it, which is a definite plus. I ordered the malted waffle, which was good, and my daughter ordered the brioche French toast, which was tasty, but the portion was quite small for the price, in my opinion. We also got hash browns and bacon, which was good. I prefer the caramelized banana French toast they have, but our meal was tasty, too. I’ll probably go there again. Breakfast is my favorite meal to eat out.

Just discovered earlier in the week that Over Easy had opened a location on Farmer in The Yard, in a former industrial part of Tempe. There’s interesting things going on here, so I thought I’d give this breakfast place a try, and have been there twice. On my first go round, mid-week, the place was virtually empty, so I took a seat at a table and ordered their chilaquiles with an over-medium egg. Was definitely tasty, though after about ½ of the plate was gone, it began losing its appeal, mainly because the flavors ended up being fairly single note. I’d say spice it up a bit: add additional sides of pico de gallo, a bit more sour cream, and hell, why not make the chilaquiles in the form of a casserole and serve that way, rather than a plate of tortilla triangles which have been sauced with ranchero and covered with melted cheese. The casserole style might give you more options, and allow you to add an additional side item to your menu. Today, the place was packed, so I sat by myself at the counter. It took a while for the wait person to get to me after bringing me coffee and water. Not sure why it took them so long to tally up other customer’s bills and process these customer’s credit cards, but it was a bit too long between bringing the coffee and taking my food order. This time, went basic with their two egg breakfast, which I’m sure I pointed to on the menu, but the hash browns never came out, so I had to point out the menu mentioned hash browns, and these came really quickly after I said something. The only suggestion I have is to cook your toast to order, mine came out really dry and somewhat hard, like it had been cooked ahead in anticipation of whole wheat toast being ordered. Coffee both days was really, really good. First day I got several pours, and offered a cup to go. Today, only offered one pour, and I felt a little like the single diner the restaurant didn’t want to pay attention to. Other than this little service wrinkle, I welcome this place to the list of possible breakfast places.

I don’t really get the hype over this place. I went to the Arcadia location once and the sound of people yelling across the table to the people they were eating with was so distracting that was all I could remember. So when this Tempe location opened up I thought I’d give Over Easy another chance. But I dunno, you guys. It just wasn’t anything special. I do like the location, although it’s very small — only a handful of tables — it’s nice and bright and clean. I ordered eggs and bacon with sweet potato tots. My boyfriend got pancakes with eggs and bacon. Are we just ordering the wrong thing? Is there something really great that we are missing out on? Our food wasn’t bad per se, it just wasn’t anything special. My eggs were fine, the bacon was average and the tots were, well, warmed up out of bag… and my boyfriend said his pancakes were a little dry… so…yeah. We both walked out feeling sort of ‘meh’ about the whole experience. With all the new breakfast places now available in Tempe I don’t think Over Easy is going to make it into our regular rotation. I hate to say it Over Easy, but I’m over you.

I liked this place. The ambiance is very industrial. The location is good. The service was very good. The mint lemonade is over priced and just okay.(No free refills for $ 3.25). The waffle dog was just okay. The sausage was good but it just tasted like a pancake or something wrapped around it. The wolf pack with corned beef instead of bacon and swiss cheese was good. My least favorite part was the hash browns. I liked that they were crispy on the outside but they must have been a little to thick or something because they were mushy inside. I would like to go back and try the banana brioche french toast.

The experience: Been there twice and I just moved here from San Diego last week. Went on Sunday around 10:30 it was busy we waited five minutes for a table. Went back on Tuesday and it wasn’t as busy but the food was just as good. Food is good, prices are reasonable. This location is youthful and fun with lots of bright light and a college crowd. The food: I ordered the blueberry pancakes and a waffle dog.(a breakfast sausage dipped in waffle batter and deep fried) to delicious perfection. The French toast was great, as was the coffee.

So great! I had a breakfast sandwich with bacon, and sweet potato tater tots(THETOTSAREPERFECTION). Friend got hash browns and said they were delicious. This place is fast, and easily customizable. Would go for a quick bite, or to catch up with a friend!

Went with some neighbors the 2nd day it is open — they are still doing some set up(they were building chairs while we were there). On the plus side, we got to meet the owners(a couple) who are also opening up the Lodge on a cross corner from this place(which is in the Tempe Culinary Dropout/Yard complex, which is set to open July 1st and the wife is a hoot, it was so fun talking with here! As for the space, wonderfully open with high ceilings and just a nice clean look. The wife told us that all the wait staff and cooks had already worked for several months at the Arcadia location so you can expect a smooth opening. For us, the coffee was great and they refilled it on a regular basis and the food came out quickly, which is always nice(but that may slow down a bit as this place packs up, but maybe not). I had the waffle and fried chicken(which is a flattened breast cutlet), which I thought was good, though I tend to like a thicker waffle(this one is pretty thin, though good). I would also say the price point is pretty good — my dish, with an additional egg and coffee was a bit over $ 13 with tax(not including tip). Overall, good food, service is also good and nice location(full disclosure, I can walk to it, which I love), I’ll definitely be back again.
