I have been here many times and I don’t understand what is so five stars about this place, so I’ll go ahead and throw in my two cents in hopes to curb your enthusiasm. Parking is a nightmare. You have to park in this seedy dark alley way filled with feral cats, and they’re not even the good kind of feral cats that want to play. Parking is limited so try and carpool if you can. Whatever you do, do not attempt to park in front of the house with the gate. Baron Von Hitler lives there and will no doubt demand you move your car or he’ll call the police. The overall layout of The Cellar Door is pretty standard by lounge concerns, however it is pretty small. First is the sit down area to talk & chill, the middle area where you get your drinks and whatever food there is(if there is any), and the entertainment room. The first two rooms I have no qualms against, but the entertainment room can get cramped and only one form of entertainment can be played each time. There are two bathrooms! Such joy! The owner of the place is some asian broad. Apparently she’s been running the joint for a while now, but for some reason only opens up the place on special occasions. I guess to increase the place’s appeal? Anyways, she does seem to keep the place tidy enough. She has a full-blown lemon tree in the back which is pretty rad. Not a lot of places have trees like that anymore. However, there is also a broken mirror in the back too and I nearly killed myself on it. You either love the drink selection or hate it. A lot of hard liquor here and no beer whatsoever. If you’re looking for beer, best bring your own. The liquor selection can be quite limited depending on what season you come. I hear the owner collects alcohol throughout the year, so whatever alcohol you have one day can be different the next. Overall, a small place, but if you want to relax with a few friends in the Temple City area, this is the spot to be, though you’ll have to bring a bit extra stuff on your own for a chill experience.
