Big Lots

There’s a hodge podge of deals in this store — ranging from about the same price as retail down to jaw-​dropping bargains. I stopped at Radio Shack before stopping here to get a USB to Micro USB cable for charing my Mophie case for my iPhone. At Radio Shack, 1 cable was $ 14.95. I figured I’d see if there was a chance that Big Lots might have some. Lo and behold, they had lot close-​outs from Travelocity accessories and I got these awesome Micro USB to regular USB cables that were retractable — for $ 5 each. So — for the same price as a non-​retractable cable at Radio Shack, I got 3 of them, one for the car, one for home and one for the office. WIN! One thing any shopper should know on their maiden voyage into Big Lots, it’s never the same store twice. Well, not ‘never’ — but it won’t be the same every time you go in unless you go in two days in a row. They get close-​outs from stores that go out of business — so if you see a killer deal, don’t assume they’ll always have that item. They won’t have it ever again in some cases. Deals on nice looking, student-​priced furniture at times — from beds to sofas and quality patio furniture. Big Lots stores keep their prices down by having few employees and many are not necessarily the cream of the crop as far as knowledgeable, or a motivation to clean the aisles, etc. The stores can look a little divey sometimes — especially because moms come in there with 3+ kids that wreak havoc. Despite this issue, Big Lots is a great place to browse shop. I always end up finding something that I meant to buy elsewhere for twice the price when I wasn’t even thinking about that item. Fun stuff to be found here — from blank CDs to costume jewelry.

This man loves him a bargain. That explains why I often find myself at places like Big Lots. There are often many a treasure to be found at this chains stores. This store, however, was a complete wreck. Things in the middle of the aisles, things shelved in wrong sections of the store, employees that don’t know where anything is located. The store was also not well kept-​many burnt out bulbs, filthy floors, and a restroom most truckstops would be ashamed to call their own!
Why then did they even get two stars? Cause like I said I love me a good deal-​and I was able to find several of them!
