Kmart

Ok, I have nothing against Kmart stores. Some of them can be quite nice compared to their competitors. This Kmart, however, is something that has been plucked from my nightmares. Half of the lights in the store didn’t work, nothing seemed to be organized at all, and both customers and staff seemed to be more like zombies than actual people. There was inventory in the middle of the aisles, there were open bottles of lotion on the shelves, and there seemed to be dust on everything! I said «Gross» out loud at least 8 times during my 15 minute shopping experience. I will not be returning to this store unless held at gun point or as I toss and turn tonight remembering the experience. Why are the office supplies in a dark corner in the back of the store? Am I going to get shivved?!? Ahhh!!!

Usually I would tend to try and give Kmart a much higher review. Given the fact I almost never go to walmart or Target. But this particular Kmart store has one specific problem. They don’t ever list the prices on some of their merchandise. I noticed this today when I went to buy a space heater. I actually had to pull out my phone and check out the price on the internet. Seriously!!! Yes I really did.
The people that worked at this location were very friendly and helpful I will admit. But it didn’t seem like they were that knowledgeable about the prices of the items on the shelves.
The only saving grace about Kmart versus other department stores is their layaway program. They do layaway year around, and you can put almost anything on layaway with the exception of food.
In short good layaway program, friendly but sort of incompetent staff members, unmarked prices for items on their shelves.

I really like this place… I really do. From the snack deals that they give in their deli section, to the low cost items they advertise online, Kmart has a lot to offer you.
Unfortunately, this chain is getting the life squeezed from it daily from the Big W! I know there are none of these stores left in the Houston metropolitan area, but you can find great deals online and have them shipped to your door for a great low rate. Keep in mind that Kmart has exclusive line deals with a few entities, so there are some items that you are not available even at the Big W.
There are daily deals, member exclusive weekly deals, as well as weekly electronic deals, that you can be privy to if you just check the store online. Considering that there are a dying brand, you know they have to discount items to just stay alive in the market. Check to see what saving you can achieve.

7 registers and only 2 open at Christmas when there are 7 people in each line? Come on!
