Steak ‘n Shake

This is honestly the worst experience ive ever had at any sit down food establishment, it took 40 minutes to get our food, which still had onions on it when i specified to not have them, our waitress had a stank crackhead attitude and came to the table 3 times during our horrible hour and a half visit. It was so bad the manager was getting us drinks because we had been sitting long enough for our ice to start melting. I barely had enough restraint to not catch a charge and i blatantly told her on the receipt how i felt about her. Do not go to this steak n shake. If i didnt have to put a star i wouldnt.

Extremely long wait time in the drive through with only one car in front. Ordered a meal with unseasoned fries and a large chili. Went to the window and paid and noticed I was missing the fries. A lady in plain clothes (I assume manager) said the chili substituted the fries and that’s why I didn’t get them. She didn’t offer to get the fries even though I ordered them, she just said that if I want them I can pay for them. Will not return.

Service is non existent. No longer are you waited on at this location, you are forced to order at the counter. Which would be fine if there was menu displayed so that all patrons could peruse while standing in line. However, they shotgun you with the menu and stare at you while you try to figure out what you want. Oh and all the people in line behind you are just trying to figure out what’s going on. This is not the Famous «Steak&Shake» that most are looking for when they walk through the door. Would have put 0 stars but have to in order to review.

Do not go here. They have no idea what they are doing and it is self serve. Double trouble. Keep on trucking.

20+ minute waits. Once I went to the drive thru– big mistake. I ordered and after 10 – 15 minutes, I drove off. Later I came back and decided to go inside– you know, Bc maybe they cater to their patrons a little quicker. Nope. Ordered and waited another 20. My friend said he just waited 30 in the drive thru. I have been to this restaurant for breakfast and waited as well. The drive thru is a joke.
I’m not sure if it’s like this everywhere, but the food isn’t good enough for the wait. And that burger is small

It only gets worse. This was our most frequented restaurant after they opened, but we have witnessed a long, slow slide downhill, from scrumptious to… Well, lemme say we won’t be back for a while.
I can’t explain our last meal. Everything – the Coke, burger and fries – had a bitter taste that lingered for an hour or so. We have no idea how this could happen. We considered things we had eaten earlier in the day, but nothing correlated. They earned a ton of goodwill from us after they opened that took us back time and time again in spite of the growing number of disappointments, but this is the last straw. It appears from some other reviews here that our experience is not unique.
I hope they take this as constructive. Fact is, we want Steak ‘n Shake back.

What a joke. No host or hostess at the stand. The guy behind the bar said, «You can sit wherever.» We sat at a booth and the waitress said, «Well I guess that’s fine. Y’all must want some menus.» as she walked off. She went to get some menus but gave them to someone else. Then she went to the back of the restaurant. 10 minutes later she was wiping down tables, she made eye contact with us at least 3 times but never came back to the table. After 20 minutes with no menus we got up and left. Pathetic service.

3 strikes, spanning months for accurate data sample. ALL 3 visits were terrible by wait and service standards. I emailed corporate, franchise owner, and called owner. I expected/​received no recompense. I hate seeing what could be a good restaurant be such a miserable failure because of personnel issues. I REALLY like S&S, but will never go to this one again.
The food is good to great, but the reason for the empty tables is horrendous service and extremely long wait times. Another review mentioned this is not fast food. Absolute truth! Last visit, my wife ordered online and was given a due time. I understand Internet orders may take time, but not 45 minutes AFTER the due time given. Roughly, it took an hour to get 2 burgers/​fries and a kid’s meal. 2 young men tried to help me, but they seemed to be the only ones working out of about a dozen other loitering staff. Oddly, the manager was there, but nothing got done. A review of the security cameras will clearly show this.
One dreadfully long wait on a dine in, I watched a waitress set a customer’s drink down on an empty table and walk off. She just forgot apparently. The entire time we were there, the drink did not get delivered. Hard to understand when there are more employees than customers.
I don’t understand how they have 2 stars here. I can only guess that the people who bring the average up are not rating the whole «experience», but rather the food only. Best guess I have is that this is not an income producing endeavor, but rather an intentional loss for tax purposes.
As a side note, 2 employees parked in the handicapped spaces with not tag or hanger that indicated they should have. Personal pet peeve, but it ties in with the personnel issue.

Waited in drive thru 15 minutes and only one car ahead of me. Before someone would wait to take my order! It is crowded inside so clean tables available is why I decided Togo through drive through. Service is terrible

We were looking forward to this as we don’t have any near where we live. We were not seated quickly although they were 90% empty. We were given someone else’s order. Someone else was given our check. A manager sat in the corner chatting with all the help, keeping them from waiting on our table. When we did get our orders, the fries were COLD. I asked for a napkin — the waitress enroute to get the napkin stopped to ask another table if she could get them soda. She brought them the wrong drinks and didn’t bring the napkin. The bathrooms were filthy, the floors were dirty, the doors to the bathroom covered with greasy handprints. Steak n Shake — you can do better.

Burger place no ketchup i grabbed some napkins cause waitress was“busy“she saw me n said «sirr you cant take too many. My order was 4 royales and oh boy after they took like 40 minutes i wasnt even hungry anymore cooks cooking with no hair net another cook txting, guess other workers where in the back blazing that shit. Please dont go if you are in a mood of getting angry this is the place !

This isn’t fast food but I knew to expect that. We decided to split a Patty Melt. It was good with nicely carmelized onions and good quality meat. We enjoyed the Parmesan & Herbs fries, too.
The shakes we got were good, too. We got them to go.
Slow but good. Go somewhere else if you are pressed for time.

I stopped in for a milkshake to go about 6:30 in the evening. After waiting at the cash register for a while, I decided to leave. What appeared to be the manager was cooking and never looked up. All the others were standing around to the far right in the kitchen, doing nothing. Resturant only had around six people, not busy.

I’m all for giving places second chances just in case the first time I went there was some kind of issue prohibiting good service. But this place… The first time I came it took at least 20 minutes for us to get food but then what we got wasn’t even our order. Then we had to wait another 10 minutes for our order, which was still wrong. I would have left if I hadn’t already paid. Tried to come back a second time and still waited almost 30 minutes. This place is a joke. I will never be back.

What a disgrace. Been allover the country and its a good thing they have shakes. Service sucked burger sucked and what was wrong with crew? Too much meth tonight? Running around fast and accomplishing nothing.

If 0 was An option they’d be the best place to give it. There is no way in going back there, we were in ther for over an hot and the burger was over salted and greasy, I wanted to eat my food and walk out without paying, thy didn’t deserve a single penny.

Good clean location. Very friendly servers and quick on getting food. Only negative is location off of interstate. Frisco melt is always a winner in my book!

My first time trying Steak ‘n Shake. Ordered burgers, fries and shake to go. The shoestring fries are crunchy and addicting! We ordered Cajun, garlic & Parmesan, and regular fries. Yum!

As a Steak n Shake aficionado, I’ve got to go with 4 Stars. The food was typical S-​n-​S good. Shakes are great, Steak Burgers were 100% pure beef. Shoe String fries were cooked to perfection, and our Server Madison was friendly and attentive to my families needs. Bus Boy Garrett worked his tail off wiping down every surface on the tables and the chairs. They both performed their jobs well. Temperature inside was cold, just like all S-n-S’s.

Steak ‘n Shake is new to this area so that explains the less than great reviews. I’ve grown up with them in the Midwest. This new one is a beautiful design. Dining room service is not fast, restaurant will usually be packed out and their shoe seeing fries are my favorite. The only negative was that they were out of chili.
It is open 24 hours and serves breakfast after midnight. Love the addition of outside seating. I’ve never seen that. Madison did a good job as our server.
