OMG… don’t. Just don’t. Spend the $ 10.00 extra and get a room at the nice new Holiday Inn Express down the road. This place is one inspection away from being condemned.

Strolled in at 2:30am after driving for about 8 hours straight. The price was reasonable. The hotel is moderately clean. Just needed a place to rest. Bathroom is dirty. But like permanently dirty. Old. The shower head comes out of the wall at just about belly button height and needs a new shower head. But whatever. There’s an all you can eat breakfast deal. Belgian waffles and toast and stuff. Not bad. I’ve stayed at far worse and for the price I can’t complain. Some of you people are obviously spoiled or grew up in rich households. This wasn’t bad. Not like the time I had to kill 38 flies 4 roaches in our room at the motel 6 in San Jose.

Yikes! So glad my hubby and I drove up to this hotel before we had to pay for the night. Trash all around the premises. The pool was drained and obviously not working. Their breakfast was hostess patries and coffee. We cancelled and happily made reservations down the road in Texas at Comfort Inn & Suites.

From my recent streak of staying at ‘surprisingly good’ Super 8 Motels, this one slapped me in the face and brought me back to reality as to what Super 8’s are all about. For 1, the GPS led me to a completely different back alley in the middle of nowhere when i punched this house number in, but that’s not the hotels fault. From the exterior, it looks alright. Nothing falling off, fairly clean hotel. The moment i step inside, it’s like entering a vortex taking me back in time to the 80’s. The décor/look of the place, along with the extra bonus of the 3rd sense; smell, brings back memories of when I was just 3 years old, if i could remember anything from that time that is. No it doesn’t smell like flower fields and marijuana, it smells like a mixture of cigarettes and dirty month old socks left over by hippies from the 80s left inside the hotel SINCE the 80s. Aside from the musty gross smell, the walls are acrylic covered stucco and carpet an intentional dirty purplish blue pattern to cover up any stains left over from 20+ years of hippyism. The rooms were somewhat clean to the naked eye, it’s times like these i wish i bought those pocket sized UV wands from the air Mall catalogue on the airplanes. The wooden furniture were all sticky somehow from the decaying lacquer finish. I took a wet cloth and gave it a wipe and low and behold, a brown cloth afterwards. 1 of the bath towels smelled of a heavy dried urine smell… I didn’t sense it in the other as I already used it… lesson here, smell the bath towels before use. Overall not that bad a place to sleep for the night since its cheap, but it’s no Ritz and I am so sick of Super 8’s, glad I’m going to a Wingate tomorrow and Hilton’s after this one, at least they wont give me a STD from sitting on the toilet.
