I’m always looking for new spots for al pastor tacos in the Palo Alto/Mt. View area. I came across El Taco Ranchero as I was driving to another taqueria. This taco truck, parked in front of Orchard Supply Hardware in Mt. View makes possibly the best al pastor tacos I have ever had. Check them out. Be aware there are no tables so be prepared to stand around and eat or take them to go.

My goodness best taco truck tacos I’ve ever had! Handmade tortillas and fresh hot meat. Yum! The salsas are also perfectly spicy and just right. I came here expecting it to be quick because I had an appointment. I ended up running off to my appointment and picking up my food a full hour later. The men working remembered me and were super nice about it.

This is our Taco Tuesday lunch. I could easily do more Taco Tuesday’s per week. Generous portions for a $ 2 taco, tortillas made to order, homemade salsas(guacamole salsa especially delicious). Delicious pollo and carnitas, super fresh and well prepared. The only negative is the wait — it can easily take 30 mins for 3 tacos. That said it’s worth the wait IMO. Easily my favorite taco on the peninsula, and perhaps anywhere. Find this truck in front of Osh on Charleston in Palo Alto.

There used to be another taco stand(literally a stand) parked in front of the Liquor store here… Now a new truck has posted up. Like a charter bus but redone to be a mobile taqueria. They’ve got a handful of meats and do tacos, and tortas mostly. However the handmade tortillas are the big draw. Got a chiccharon(not on the menu) and lengua tacos. Friend got carnitas and al pastor. All really good. It’s solid competition to Tacos El Super Connro and Mamacitas nearby. 4.3 stars

Finally got to try this taco truck… I’ve always gone to the next door rival, The mamacitas truck that’s parked in target parking lot. This guy is parked right next door in front of the liquor store. The menu offering is shorter than its rival but their salsa selections look pretty convincing. . On this very first visit, I ordered 3 tacos with asada(beef), pastor(marinade pork), and lengua(tongue). Taco is 2 dollar each. Ordered came out fairly quickly, just like in mexico, only a slice of tortilla(and I could tell that they r freshly made, not and store bought) with the meat on top. lots of meat. Generous portion. You put all the fixings yourself(chopped onions, cilantro, 3 different kind of salsa and fresh radishes are displayed on the counter for you to grab). Verdict: delicious! !!! Just like the tacos in mexico!(I just came back from PV !!) It looks like I’ve found my new taco truck spot!
