I found this restaurant to be very charming. Their burgers are absolutely delicious. The service has been excellent every time I’ve gone, and super friendly.

A few years back, my hubby and I stumbled across this place. We often take day trips to Hood River and will make the extra drive up to The Dalles for it. I don’t know what it is, but I love this place. The country theme is really cute and I love that they say«Hi Cousins!» when you walk in. I love their sugar canisters because they have rainbow colored sugar crystals in lieu of actual sugar for coffee. The little touches are cute. I can only speak for the breakfast food, but I think it’s great. This morning, I had the market skillet. The potatoes were really delicious and the eggs were up to par. It was served in a little skillet. My husband got the country Benedict and it was great as well. The gravy was good. Not too salty but with plenty of flavor. Biscuits are homemade and huge! Bloody Mary was good, but nothing I haven’t experienced before. At $ 8, it could be better($ 7 on Sundays) We did go to the brunch buffet once and I can say through and through that it was incredibly not worth the money. They put it in the banquet room so it just felt… I dunno, tacky. The food was stale assuming it was actually available for eating. Customer service is good. I’ll keep going back and refer people here!

They have the best cinnamon rolls I’ve ever had! As big as a dinner plate and at least 4 inches thick! Great employees and nice hotel rooms!

My friend and I both had the Southwest chicken omelette. I had sourdough toast for my side and my friend had a biscuit and side of gravy. The omelette is fantastic. Great flavor. Came with real, shredded potato hash browns. Apparently the biscuit was a little dry but, not a deal-breaker. Awesome service. Driving away full and happy.

Rude service, strict with substitutions if you have allergies. Love to say no. Love love love to say no. Servers roll eyes at you. Advertise as gluten free but have minimal options. Won’t be back.

I went here for dinner alone while on a long road trip. Service was friendly and fast. Free WiFi. The waitress didn’t mind my asking for a couple of substitutions. I had a salad, and knowing how most restaurants define«lettuce», I asked for spinach instead. The salad was pretty good and had hearty portions. My only complaint was that the roast turkey was clearly from a package. Otherwise I was pleasantly pleased.

I’m traveling for business and between the work month from hell and a teething toddler at home who refuses to sleep, I’m exhausted. When — after a long day of traveling and flying — my hotel suggested dinner at Cousins, the glowing barnyard restaurant around the corner, I thought, «Why the hell not?» I walk in and ask to place a to-go order and I’m seated immediately at their counter, with a waitress appearing within seconds. I place my order and ask for a drink while I wait. I ended up with a damn good lemon drop! And while I waited for my food, every single person who walked by offered a smile or wave. Even the cook said hello to me! I was so impressed with the friendly atmosphere, it’s not often you feel totally welcome as a solo to-go party. Fast forward to the food, I ordered a steak and fries. The steak is cooked perfectly(medium) and seasoned well. The salad has fresh lettuce and great ranch. I don’t expect food this good from a restaurant that looks like a country diner with animal sounds emitted at the front door, so I must admit I’m pleasantly surprised. I’d absolutely come here again! Hats off to the awesome staff; you made an exhausted momma very happy — thank you!

Was excited to eat here but food wasn’t all that I’d hoped it would be. Also some of their prices are ridiculous! Looked like a fun place to bring the kids.

Stand by stop for a trip east. We start driving in the dark with a thermos of coffee and we are ready to eat by the time we get here. Taster size cinnamon rolls are free!

Restaurant is great, but bar has horrible service. Depending on the server you get they may or may not know how to make you a shot. When asking what shots they can make the staff is not knowledgable and lazy about looking up what you want to even make it. Not sure if we will come back to this bar next time. The only knowledgable person is Amy she is amazing and come to find out she is only a busier. She rocks and needs a promotion! However manager did come to rectify the issue and handled our group in a very professional manner.

Pretty good breakfast, plus they gave me sample of their cinnamon roll. But most of all, I was taken by the old fashion mason jar as your glass of water.

More of an upscale Dennys. You will find the same type of food cooked and tasting better. Not gourmet but not too bad for a stop on our travels through the gorge.

Very friendly rustic atmosphere but the service and food are sub par. Server was at our table every 2 minutes to «check» on us and was very fake with her attitude. She rolled her eyes often at simple requests like extra ranch. I got the fish and chip and the fries were so tuff to eat that it made it very unpleasant. The fish was mostly batter and little fish with no taste. Used to be one of my favorite spots but has gone way down hill more of a retirement diner now.

You know what is most memorable about my trip to Cousins? My Condon friend and I went to The Dalles specifically to get«ethnic» food(which doesn’t exist in Condon), and we ended up at Cousins because of his glowing review. And I must say, he wasn’t wrong. Cousins very much reminds me of a lower grade Cracker Barrel. Very kitschy, country, down-home feeling with delicious comfort food. When you first enter, you are greeted with a restaurant store of cute knick knacks and Cousins mementos. Can’t help but feel like you walked into another dimension… but in a nostalgic way if that makes sense. Because I had eaten complete unhealthy shite the last couple days, I went with a BBQ chicken salad(swapped out the ranch dressing for Italian), which was a great portion for the price. Came with a side of freshly baked bread and nicely whipped butter. I must admit that I was ogling the pies(baked fresh), but there was just no way I could do it. Clientele inside is very interesting… lots of locals but also people staying at the attached hotel. Service here is very friendly; I did not have to wait for anything. I don’t know when I will be back in the area, but when I do, I definitely will be back, and I will try that pie. That’s a definite.

Our waitress was AMAZING! We sat in the bar. I am breastfeeding and have to avoid soy, dairy and eggs. I had lots of questions for her and she was super sweet about it, even though she was SLAMMED! I believe her name was Holly! Super impressed! She even changed my order in the system so it would be cheaper and make more sense for the cooks. UPDATE while waiting: It became dead. There was like only three tables left of people. We had empty waters for like 20 minutes, had to ask them to be filled, after she asked if everything was good. She also forget about my husbands beer but she was sweet and was dealing with a bunch of drunks! Overall very impressed! The food was just ok. We both got burgers. Really wish they cooked their fries in something other than soybean oil. I understand it’s cheap but there are other cheap options!

It was terrible food and service sucked. Mgr comped us for food. Milkshakes were melted by the time we got them. Pot roast dry and stringy. Worst dining experiance i’ve had in long time. Waiter was rude and walked by us twice before he acknowledged us. We go out a couple times a week wife is in food service and I managed a bar. What set me over edge was waiter told me oysters took longer to cook, when it eas obvious he had failed to turn in order. 3 tables were seated well after us in other sections got there food before we got drinks. Never going there again

Very good food, very friendly service! We had dinner here while driving home from the coast. Our server, Jennifer, was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The themed restaurant was interesting, although being called«Cousins» was a bit unusual. The food was fabulous. My husband had the Cobb salad, which was fabulous, and I had the rib eye with a huge baked potato. I ordered the steak rare+, and when it came out, before Jennifer ever placed it down in front of me, she noticed that it might have been over-cooked. Great observation, as indeed, it was well done. She took it back, no questions asked, and quickly returned with a perfectly cooked steak… awesome marbling with great flavor! Everything you would expect from this beautiful part of Oregon with it’s large ranches and farms. This was our last night on our way home from the coast, so we also decided to have one last cup of clam chowder… and wow, are we glad we did! GREATCHOWDER! Some of the best we had on our vacation! Thank you Jennifer and Cousins for such a fabulous meal! We will for sure stop in again!

This is the restaurant within Cousins Country Inn. The food here is always very good. I’ve had salads, halibut, pot roast, turkey dinners and dessert here. All are high quality and a great meal. You can eat in the bar or restaurant. The bar serves peanuts in a bucket at the table. Shells go on the floor. Be prepared for the animal sounds as you enter and leave through the door. And, to be treated as every waitresses«cousin».

We were pleasantly surprised. My husband ordered the French Onion soup and salad and I had the Country Beans and cornbread. Both were superb! The beans were flavorful in a slightly sweet, meaty sauce. I should have ordered a bowl! The soup had that perfect, chewy cheese crust. We ordered their special strawberry shortcake. Wished we had room for their famous milkshakes!

Huge portions, great staff, nice ambiance, and if you stay at the nearby Fairfield Mariott hotel, the front desk can give you a voucher for a free appetizer. Cousins has dsily specials which are a great deal, and happy hour lasts 4 hours! The appetizers are around $ 10, but with the free coupon, it is a steal! The food is delicious, and I’m a big eater, so I’m pleased by how large the portions are. The Chicken Fingers appetizer is $ 12, but is definitely a meal in itself. It comes with fries, too. For dessert, I ordered the cake, and I asked the waitress to put some monthly ice cream flavor on it, which is Oregon Black Cherry! My friend ordered the brownie dessert and it is huge!
