I’ve worked in the area for years and just found out they served food so I stopped in this morning for breakfast. They have a menu for made-to-order along with a few things pre-made in a deli case. I ordered a bacon egg & cheese on wheat toast & she made it while I walked around the store. The breakfast sandwich was very good and it was an excellent portion of food. No skimping here! The options for lunch looked good as well, so I’ll definitely be back. This location is convenient to I-66 via Old Tavern Road(The Plains exit) or off Route 17 — it’s right across from Great Meadow on Old Tavern Road.

Yeah I didn’t really have a good experience here. I came with a bunch of people and we were starved and thirsty. I seem to remember ordering a sandwich and soup and a gigantic iced tea. I wolfed it down, I was happy enough with the quality. but when I went to go use the bathroom after downing that gigantic iced tea. well they didn’t have one. Or they do, and they don’t let anyone use it. Anyway, how the hell is that even LEGAL?

As I was out exploring today, I looped northward out of Warrenton on U.S. 17. When I came to Route 245 South, I recognized the road — even though I had never been on this end of the road. So in the spirit of exploring and seeing new things, I took the road less traveled by. I came upon a small, cool looking convenience store at historic Old Tavern, which is right by Big Meadows. I stopped in. I snapped a shot of the store — when I walked in, the sweet little olé lady behind the counter said to me: «You probably thought this was a historic building, but it’s not!»(She saw me take the photo!). I told her that I just thought it was a cool looking little store and it was better than any 7 – 11! She asked me if she could help me, I said I was in to get some java and water. She was out of fresh coffee, so she brewed up a fresh pot. While I was waiting, I chatted with her. She asked me if I was hungry — I was — she suggested their homemade beef and vegetable soup. I said YES! I also picked up a small bag of Route 11 Habanero potato chips. Yummy and spicy! They also have a small Deli. I sat in my car and wolfed the soup down — it was a good, downhome style soup. Very tasty! Cool little store — check it out next time you are in the area!
