Hemingway’s At Havana

Excellent service in Timothy and his staff! Lovely atmosphere for a great dining experience. I had a salad with scallops and shrimp on it, very healthy and fresh (maybe too healthy?). Jan had shrimp and chicken mixed grill which was soooo tasty! His came with delicious mashed potatoes and pea pods– everything so yummy!

Came here with a large group. The service and food was top-​notch. We had two servers tending to us, Dean & Derek, and they were very attentive. The hostesses were great at greeting us & kept us informed regarding the wait for our table for our large group. The food was indeed delicious. It is somewhat pricey, but you get what you pay for. One thing – they could put more wine into your glass when ordering wine.

The food and service here surpasses any place else in the Villages. We have been there several times and it has always been terrific. We decided to write about the place because it deserves recognition for delivering great consistent experiences.
Highly recommend going-​they will go out of their way to make your evening perfect.

We had 11 people for lunch and they refused to seat is until everyone was present. The restaurant was completely empty. When you are at a golf course you need to be more flexible especially when your restaurant is empty. As a consequence the restaurant lost 11 people for lunch approximately $ 200 worth of business plus a lot of future business from a group that plays golf there regularly. The manager should have had more sense. Very disappointed.

Visiting my parents decided to give Hemingway’s a try. Service was amazing and the food so delicious. Started with raw oysters so good. Also had a black &blue crostini which was out of this world. Then the main meal trout which was delicious with Cous Cous and snap peas. Mom had the dorado mahi mahi which was really good as well. Dad had St. Croix salmon which was also very very good. Didn’t have room for desert maybe next time. Highly recommend sitting outside for the view. Will definitely be back.

Visited in May, 2015. Sat outside for dinner with friends who had gone for lunch earlier in week. Loved it. Our service was impeccable, our steaks and other entrees were delicious, and the setting was inviting and relaxing. We look forward to another visit.

Well, we have been to Havana Cc for lunch and for dinners before and were disappointed time and again. So we have not gone back until now. Tonight we went with family and what a surprise! Service was excellent and the food outstanding. New management has had to overcome some really poor performance in the past. So, if you have boycotted it for poor food and service, –go back and you will be pleased with the quality of the food and the service – and this is for a habitual complainer if you listen to my friends. I believe that you should get what you pay for and, for sure you will this time.

Good and service was good but pricey! Would I go back? Probably not after my husband and I dropped almost $ 100 and that was without any alcohol.

Love love the place the food is always good. I had a bad server once .No complaints about this establishment, except the blond with long hair pony tail at reception needs to smile a little We highly recommend it we come from owning restaurants Hemingway is one of the best although 2 years ago it was not great

I started with the lobster bisque and it was good, but a little too salty. The lobster bisque at Cane Gardens is better. Then I had a lobster roll which had two issues for me. First it came with slices of tomatoes and I can’t stand tomatoes. The menu did not say it had tomatoes or I would have asked them to delete them. I took them out. Secondly the mayo sauce was a little bland. There was a good amount of tasty chunks of lobster and that saved them from a two star. My wife got the grilled salmon and said it was good. The Clifford Bay Sauv Blanc was good and reasonably priced and the house cab was very good and reasonable.
Service by Scott was excellent.

I’ve waited awhile to formally review this place. The reason it’s even getting two stars is primarily because I like them offering my old Venice Beach drink of J. Lohr Chardonnay by the glass. It’s really been the only thing drawing me in and the one time I went just for that and they were out of it — «bad ordering by management», the bar guy claimed — I didn’t even stay and went elsewhere that day.
My last visit left me with such a bad experience of this place I don’t think anything can lure me back — not even the J. Lohr.
I was sitting out by the Country Club pool enjoying my chardonnay. The sunset was so delightful I decided to stay and have dinner there to enjoy the beauty. I eagerly placed my food order and sat patiently waiting. Much time passed, my wine was nearing it’s last sip and the sun was almost all set by the time anyone appeared with my food. To my astonishment, I see the gentleman carrying a «to go» bag like you’d find in a Chinese restaurant instead of an exquisite plate with my beautiful cheesy grits and the beautiful grilled asparagus I had ordered. The bag didn’t even have utensils even if I wanted to stay by the pool to eat it in the dark. Even the pool lady was shocked by this presentation.
I decided to make my way inside over to to the bar to find a seat and eat my dinner. I opened my plastic bag and put the plastic container on the counter and was about to start pecking away as if I were in a deli or in a fast food establishment. Luckily, a lovely bartender saw my predicament and offered to move my food to a proper plate and bring me some fresh garlic rolls too.
Imagine my surprise when I don’t see any grilled asparagus or any grilled vegetables whatsoever on my plate. Instead, I am greeted with a bunch of mushy tomatoes in a vinaigrette type sauce strewn over my cheesy grits. The tastes didn’t even go together — it was beyond horrid! I’ve had these grits in the past and they are stellar. This evening, it was inedible.
My entire experience from ordering, receiving the food, to receiving the wrong food was ruined at every touch. At this point in the evening, nothing could have turned it around. I decided to leave the uneaten food and the second glass of free J. Lohr I received during Happy Hour. I walked home swearing under my breath what an absolute horrid «dining» experience I just had. A complete waste of a Saturday night I could have enjoyed in Orlando or Ocala. Going to Havana on this evening was no different than going to some greasy chain where your food is slopped in front of you.

Second time back and still impressed. Food is quite good and service seems unreliable but time will tell. Had shrimp and grits at $ 17.90 and very good with plenty of med size shrimp. Wife had veggie flatbread and loved it.
Staff is generally senior with long experience as one would expect in an upscale restaurant. However, our server tonight was not very attentive. Had to ask another server to help us get another drink. Also, our server gave us the check and took it without clearing the table — totally inappropriate for a fine restaurant.
On our way out, the apparent manager asked how it went. He also told us they were still working to improve.
Well worth the visit and we definitely will return.
Note: except for a few mistakes by our «experienced» server, the rest of the staff seemed quite good and professional with ONE big exception — a female server walking around obviously chewing gum and loving it. To me, that sort of thing should NEVER be tolerated in a nice restaurant. I hope the management sees this review!!!

Total transformation, Lopez south, you will not be disappointed, oysters great, pork chop juicy and delicious.

Everything was so good. All 9 people ordered different things and raved about their meal. Big improvements here.
