The food I’ve gotten there every time was delicious especially the yum-yum sauce. Although they are quite expensive, the chefs make up for it because they’re usually entertaining.

The food was OK! Nothing to brag about. However the service was bad from greeting to waitress. For sure I would not return.

Sakura Japanese Resturant is a nice little place to visit. The food is very good, the prices are fair, the portions can be slightly larger, but with the ginger salad and soup(broth) its filling enough, at least for an hour or two. The hibachi grill is very clean as is the entire reasturant. My wife ordered the smoked salmon for an appetizer and it was super fresh & delicious. I ordered the shrimp & chicken with the fried rice, the chic was absolutely the freshest & the shrimp was perfectly cooked. I would definitely recommend Sakura’s Resturant.

Coming from Los Angeles we were hesitant to make the decision to seek out sushi in central Florida. We were pleasantly surprised! Specialty rolls were really good. Prices were fair. Given its non-coastal location, I expected to pay a little more for sushi and thats fine. It was definitely on par or better than your go to neighborhood sushi joint in LA. Not a Nobu or Sugarfish but is a great option if you enjoy some good rolls. I especially enjoyed the Naruto(cucumber wrapped) rolls. Great to see these healthier options in contrast to most mid american sushi options(e.g. tempura rolls slathered in cream cheese).

Great sushi restaurant! I’m picky so was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi. Very fresh and beautifully done. Happy to know that the villages can have a quality restaurant. The menu is also great and very diverse. I had the bento box with the salmon and strip bass teriyaki and it was awesome! Also great soup and sashimi. So happy to have hotate(scallop) served properly as sushi or sashimi. Thx u Sakura!

My office recently ordered sushi here because one of the girls raved about it. I must say, I’ve had better! Not to say it was«bad» just not as yummy as I hoped it would be. The customer service however was OUTSTANDING!!! We accidentally ordered from the wrong location but when we showed up and realized our mistake they quickly re-made our order. They were sure to make sure we knew it was ok and did not make us feel bad at all. They even threw in extra white sauce! I’d give it another try sometime…

This was our second visit here and it is still a strong four star establishment. The Kani Salad alone is worth the visit. This time I ordered shrimp Philadelphia Roll and it was exceptional. My wife had a Crazy Roll(shrimp) and a shrimp asparagus roll and loved them both(the asparagus roll a little more. The house cab is good. Sophia did an outstanding job as our waitress We’ll be back.

Got sushi takeout for a large crowd. I have gotten sushi from many restaurants and assumed the rolls would be comparable to everywhere else. They are the smallest portions I have ever seen. For my group of light eaters, our dinner turned out to be an appetizer. Given that the price was that of a full dinner, I am going to pass on this place.

We ordered a large variety of rolls and sushi for 7 adults and 5 children(under 10); we needed to go out for a 2nd meal. In my opinion, the rolls were extremely petite compared to grocery store portions and the quality of the fish was about on par with grocery stores.

This is your average suburban Japanese place. Who knows if they use fresh high-quality fish for their sushi. Unfortunately beggars can’t be choosers so this is probably the best you’ll get around here. Prices are steep.

I’ve eaten here many times while visiting family in The Villages. I always get sushi. My favorite roll is the Tuna Naruto– spicy tuna and banana tempura wrapped in cucumber. So fresh and tasty.

Located in the middle of nowhere, this restaurant is a beacon of light attracting customers wanting for sushi. I firmly believe Sakura provides the best sushi experience they can, it just happens to be meh. Cons: Me watching our order sit on the counter top for several minutes as our server horses around with several other employees by the entrance.
Very slow to refill our water. Not one to really complain about this sort of thing but the lack of effort was evident. The worse part about the cons is that the restaurant was completely empty… Pros: The sushi tasted fresh. Definitely won’t be back here unless I’m visiting my friend out in the middle of nowhere… and even then I may hit Unilocal to see if there are any other options to compare them to.

My mother lives in The Villages and this place isn’t far from her home. The place sits in a little strip shopping mall and once you enter the place the décor is sterile but very neat and clean. Several TVs line the walls, so it does make up for the lack of interior design. It has a bar, albeit small, and though I have yet to eat here for dinner, their menu is extensive. The lunch menu is simple and inexpensive. But what really makes this place a deal… as does with just about EVERY eatery in and around The Villages is their happy hour… which runs for 6 hours??? Yes, 6 hours… from 11am to 6pm! Now for those of you that haven’t spent time near this huge retirement communities they are famous for these happy hours with the draw being«two for one.» Plus the prices can be very cheap. This particular visit my mother had a noodle bowl which was so big she ate about a third and took the rest home. I had sushi(2 rolls) as was satisfied in quantity, quality, and price. Staff is young, not terribly friendly, but helpful. The one thing that took me off guard was their soy sauce. It was VERYVERY thick? I inquired about it and was told it was sodium free and that was all they used. The girl didn’t speak great English, so after she repeated herself twice I dropped it.

Went here for lunch the other day and got the Bento Box(which is, in my opinion, the best way to make a snap judgment of any sushi joint). The sushi itself wasn’t the greatest, I found it to be a bit bland, but the Teriyaki Shrimp was superb. All the ingredients they use in their food is fresh and the staff is very friendly and attentive. I will come here again, but most likely wont order the sushi :( The search for good Bento continues…

I’m here visiting family in Florida and they know of my love for sushi so we decide to go over to the new local Japanese restaurant. I’m guessing it’s newer as it is in the more recently developed part of The Village. It’s right off of a(relatively) main road(for the area). If you’re familiar at all with The Villages, you know this could be anywhere and nowhere at the same time. We ordered a Chicken Soba Noodle soup and a Chirashi. The soup came out in a huge bowl and there were plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. The soba noodles were very dark and not quite the same flavor I’m used to, but overall the soup was good and full of veggies and slivered chicken. The chirashi came out rather ornamental with a color changing cube hidden behind the shredded daikon, which I found more annoying to look at while eating, than anything else. In the menu description It said 14 pieces of sashimi. Sashimi should not include Tamago. That is egg, not fish. So I really got 12 pieces and some Tamago. Definitely a point lost for that. The rice bed has seaweed flakes on it and some crumbly things that I couldn’t place but when I tried it, it tasted like pork. Not appetizing at all. I enjoy sashimi because of the pureness of the flavor of the fish, not to have this salty pork flavored additive messing with it. The décor is pretty modern and you can see they are kind of reaching for a contemporary vibe(leaves and color changing cubes in the plating). I will probably go back again before I leave here and maybe try some of their rolls for something different.
