Visited this store just this week to have them look at some shoes I had purchased a couple of years ago. I was greeted with one of the most defensive, aggressive, «not our problem» demeanors I have encountered for a long time. Despite having paid full retail for these very pricey shoes they would not offer to lift a finger to help me with a clear problem with one of the shoes deforming after normal use. The male in the store stated that if he even attempted to send the shoes back, Allen Edmonds would not do anything to rectify. I clarified that he was in fact saying he would do nothing. He agreed. Fortunately when I called Allen Edmonds direct later that day, they were apologetic and jumped on it. I was sent a prepaid postage email and the shoes are being repaired. I hope someone at Allen Edmonds corporate starts paying attention to the quality of its retail store employees.

Extremely disappointed in Allen Edmonds. I’ve never worn the shoes, but I have heard the best things about them. I needed new shoes and drove out of my way to go here. The young black man behind the counter seemed to not care about anything. I came in and he was helping another customer. I told him when he finished that I needed my foot measured to find out what last was best for me — this is a HUGE part of why Allen Edmonds wants you to come into their stores, to get fitted properly. He said he was helping the current customer. That customer left(empty handed) and the salesman never made an attempt to measure my foot. He let me look. I asked if they had anything cheaper than $ 385, he told me that would be driving shoes and casual shoes. He seemed to be content leaning against the counter, and never measured me like I had asked. So I left. Is this really how Allen Edmonds treats their customers? You’re about to drop $ 400 on a new pair of shoes and this is the level of service they present to you? I’ve gotten better service at Payless. I don’t really know what I could have done different except just given him my money. I am in high-dollar professional sales. You tell the customer why they need your product, you get them in the product to try it out as soon as possible, you tell them again why they need it and why they need to buy it today, then you remind them again and again until they buy it. This guy didn’t even tell me a single thing about Allen Edmonds shoes. He literally just leaned against the counter the whole time. If he’d spent the time measuring me, explaining the lasts, and putting me in the right shoe that fit like a glove, I would have paid the money. Now I wont. At least not here. Maybe it’s all in the fit, but I’ll go on a website running a sale that does free returns and order several pairs then end up save myself a hundred bucks or so.

This store has exceptional customer service that went far beyond what I expected. I walked in off the street while shopping with my family, and I was asked what size I needed. I gave the size that I normally wear. I did express that I was a new customer, because I know that higher end dress shoes can vary greatly on how each size actually fits. I was given a size that was one size narrower than I requested, and I tried it on. It seemed to fit fine, in the store; however, after a day of wear I wanted to have one of my toes surgically removed! I returned to the store, and was helped by another salesman, who took one look at my shoes and knew they were the wrong size. He suggested a size based only on visually looking at my foot, and when I tried them on, I realized exactly how these shoes were supposed to fit and feel. When the salesman then measured my foot to verify the sizing, it was exactly what he suggested. The issue seemed to be that the length of my foot measures one size, while the arch measures another. So the result was a shoe that is two widths narrower and one size larger then I originally requested! Although the original salesperson(who was not new) made a large mistake, in my case, the second salesman did an amazing job! He definitely takes shoes shopping to a new level.

Update: For the second time my first quality Walden penny loafers arrived with a defective toe box. Epic Fail!
