First time coming here and was impressed with the food and service. We ordered the chili cheeseburger and the old school, very good. Burgers are hormone and antibiotic free. Would recommend coming here for a good burger.

Ordered a bison Gouda salad for myself and the Anaheim jack for my friend. Both were great. The chicken was tendered and the sandwich was dressed well. Everything went so well together. The salad was also great. Bison was cooked perfectly & the mixture blended great. I loved everything about my meal. The restaurant was clean and quiet. Love everything about this location and environment. The menu looks amazing and extensive. It was my first time and I’m definitely going back.

It was a beautiful day in The Woodlands when my family and I stopped by The Counter in the Market Street shopping center. My grandfather is a no-fuss eater so when I suggested a burger place he was excited. He was a little nervous by the many offerings that The Counter had; but, he seemed pleased with the Old School — beef patty, American cheese(on his insistence), lettuce, onion, tomato with red relish on the side. If it can please my «old school» grandpa then The Counter can please anyone I ordered the Grilled Chicken burger with gruyère and organic greens with honey dijon. Yummy, tasty, and HUGE even though I only ordered the 1⁄3 lb! Be warned these are burgers you may not be able to finish. I loved their sweet potato fries and the variety of proteins they offer. They’ll top the burgers with anything and everything which is fun. Overall a lovely place to grab lunch. If the weather is pretty, take your burger to go and eat it on one of the Market Street benches.

I came here with a group of coworkers for lunch on a Friday. Parking was difficult even for a Friday. We had to circle around for a good 10 minutes before finding something in the HEB lot. The service was a little slow but I can expect that when it’s Friday at noon and there’s a large group of 7 people. I ordered the Bacon BBQ burger and it was excellent. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but it was a bit pinker than usual. Still good, but many of my coworkers’ burgers were not cooked as requested either. It was a bit expensive, but this is The Woodlands so it’s kind of the norm now. Overall, I’d definitely come back if someone suggested it, but I don’t think I’d seek it out for myself.

So disappointed in the grilled cheese. I think they waved the cheese over the sandwich. The only cheese that actually got on it was what accidentally spilled on it. The beer happy hour prices were good for $ 3. Waiters were very friendly but the food was very slow coming out.

First time to write a negative review and leave a zero dollar tip in my life. Service was the worst I’ve ever had at a restaurant. 20 minutes to see a waiter, at least a dozen mistakes and lost items, and the waiter brought me a bottle of beer, pulled out the opener on his keys from his pocket, and opened the beer in front of me. Food is decent but there is obviously no management at this restaurant. If you are the owner, get a good manager ASAP. Your young waiters deserve better. If you go to this restaurant and it is more than half full, leave immediately.

Hello Reader! So, please, let me tell you first that the only reason this place is getting two stars is because of a very good burger and shake(ONLYBURGER and SHAKE). Everything else just sucks big time! Service is so bad! Our server was not only slow but was arguing with me over my order!!! He had to ask several time what we have ordered because he would not write anything down. When we ordered a milkshake he came back three times to ask what we wanted. He constantly interrupted our conversation with the same questions(like — could you tell me again what you want in your milkshake)… Food — burger and milkshakes were very good… however, fries were cold and soggy. Cleanliness — the place is very dirty. It fills like a fast food joint in the middle of the shady downtown location or something. Table are dirty — trash and spilled drinks/water all over the floor, bathrooms are nasty — place is rundown and filthy — no one cleans it there, even a sink was broken in the men’s bathroom. Price — for two 1⁄3 lbs of the menu burgers, two shakes, and one fries + tip and tax we paid ~$ 44 dollars!!! For that price I can burgers at Perry’s Grill and have a wonderful experience with clean place and trained staff. Note to owners/management — you are very lucky with location and it is the reason you are in business. Your place is dirty and servers that work for you are untrained kids with some issues. Fix and clean your place, train your staff and hire good management that cares or get out of The Woodlands so a new good place can open. For now, I will take my business to Beck’s Prime! Please, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Sincerely,
Patrick S S.

Service is bad. They staff doesn’t have the training to deal with the people. No one is in charge. On a positive note, the burger was good.

Most reviews mention the bad and slow service but we definitely had quick and super attentive service during our visit so that was great! We did the build your own burger which was great! So many options to choose from, especially the cheeses. I did feel like the outside of the meat was a little burnt which Made the beef lack flanker. Also it does get pricey but it’s still worth an occasional trip. Overall our meal was good!

Very decent vegan options, and their French fries are to die for. Waiter was nice enough to turn the music down when I asked. I’ll go back for sure.

The only reason I would never go back to this place is because the service is horrible. It took them at least 45 minutes to get our order out. We were a party of six and five out of six people chose the option of «Built your own burger.» The burgers were good but again the wait was not worth it. I have had better burgers in the past. We also ordered normal as well as sweet potato fries for the table which were good but it took them a long time to get it out as well. I ordered the Counter burger, which was good but the sauce that comes with it was tasteless. Maybe a more flavorful sauce would have been better. One of my friend ordered a Nutella shake, it tasted like an average shake, nothing special. The price is reasonable but I don’t think I would return to this place anytime soon.

Gotta love the build your own burger option. Tons of choices.(*Insider tip: you get to choose as many things from the«Toppings» section as you want!) Decent selection of beer. Not a ton of choices, but what they do have is pretty good. FYI: They have gluten free bread

The reason I don’t give one more star is because of the price of this burgers, however this place is amazing!!! You can’t go wrong with custom burger, if you do that means you don’t know how to combine taste and you might need to eat outside more often… And all the fat people say amen! Yes I have a belly that give me the authority to called my self fat and not get offended lol. But not joke, this place is amazing! If you don’t mind paying 18 – 20 bucks for a costum legit burger. Try this place you won’t be disappointed

a co worker and I ate here last Friday 7⁄3 and each of us had a bison burger. Not much flavor, not sure if they even considered a little salt. We figured as much as we paid surely we would get some salt. About 2 hours later we both were extremely sick, it lasted about 24 hours. Thanks Counter for ruining my July 4. Both of our tabs were around $ 25.00!!!which included burger, fries, and malt Will NEVER come back. BUT if your interested in a highly over priced burger with no flavor and diarrhea for 24 hours this is the place for you! ps the malt was pretty good

Don’t come if you’re in a hurry. Kitchen is swamped & they let you know after you have been waiting 20 minutes for your food.

Ducked in here to get out of the rain and grab a burger, unassuming, and couldn’t have been more pleased with the results. The décor is a bit sterile, but options to customize a «burger» are almost overwhelming. I had a bison burger with Tillamook cheddar and smoked green chilies, with a side of sweet potato fries — cooked just right and sized portion wise perfectly. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating without being obnoxious. Great food and a very pleasant experience.

Amazing burgers!!! I had the Korean BBQ burger and it was delicious, such a different combination of flavors than I would ever think to put on a burger. They lost a star because of the service and because the blenders behind the bar were soooooo loud.

This place is AWESOME! Definitely not«some old burger joint.» Fresh, creative recipes make it stand out. I had the«Korean BBQ» burger, my girlfriend Sonoma Burger in a Bowl, but substituted the veggie burger(no add. charge), and we were able to do 50⁄50 sweet potatoes fries and sriracha fries. Everything was delicious! Definitely recommend.

I really have lost all hope for this place. It’s truly appalling that service at a restaurant with such amazing food can be this bad. It’s not uncommon to see not a single employee on the floor. For the 45 minutes we were at this establishment, if I had to guess there was an average of one employee out on the floor for 25 – 30 minutes total. If there were two they were in a corner, not paying attention to the patrons, but discussing something to each other in Spanish. The server we had this last visit had a very short attention span, and couldn’t tell me without asking someone else if they served coffee(which they don’t, and I’m separately upset about that). Our orders themselves came out ALMOST correct, which is understandable considering you literally check boxes on a card to order(/sarcasm). They somehow switched our bun order. After several minutes of trying to get the waiters attention, short of yelling at him, I was finally able to catch his eye to ask him for a drink refill. I don’t think I’ll be giving The Counter another chance for a VERY long time, or ever. Not too sure. I’m just extremely disappointed every time I come here.

This place was okay. I was kinda surprised that I wasn’t very full off of the burgers here. Maybe I should’ve gotten the fries with it? I don’t know but every time I go to a burger joint, the burger alone would always fill me up. The burger was good – don’t get me wrong, but I feel like it might’ve been a little overpriced for what I got. Or maybe I’m just a fatass.
