On our way to Fl, the ladies in the car got HANGRY! We were tired of driving in the horrible traffic from the HORRIFIC weather we have been getting. So the driver said: «let’s take the next exit and just pick a place.» Little did we know, it wasn’t just a quick exit. We turned down a road… which lead to a another road and a few more turns. If this was at night, I would have been scared to prices! Lol Time to Eat is located in a shopping center with Rouses Market. Another Unilocaler reviewed the places as «whimsical.» I felt like I was taken to that scene in Alice in Wonderland… walls of clocks and more clocks. The food was mediocre. It is the typical southern style restaurant with a large menu! They had everything from burgers to salads, Alfredo pastas to steaks and eggs. I’m not sure if they serve breakfast all day, but the breakfast menu had a «build your own omelette» option. I order their«1 o’clock burger»(mushroom and cheese on top of a beef patty; mayo, lettuce, onions and tomatoes) with a side of fries. I checked in a got a free ½ order of their popular fried green tomatoes. This is my 5th time having fried green tomatoes in my current lifetime; it was too soggy and not enough flavor. One of my friend ordered their grilled cheese with a side of sweet potato fries; another order their«vegetable plate” – choosing of 3 or 4 sides. What really brought down their rating was the lack of service. Even though our server, Sara, was extremely nice… she wasn’t as attentive to us as she was to the other patrons. Even when we tried to grab the attention of the other server, we felt a bit unwelcome. Maybe it was because of a small town mentality, but definitely not a typical southern hospitality. However, this is just my view. They have a wall dedicated to all the appreciation from their local patrons.

I have been coming to your place for a little over 11 or so years. The food is always great and the service is decent, albeit a little slow. But I love your place so I keep coming back and I keep bringing family and co-workers. My best friend and I came in for lunch yesterday, 3÷7÷16, around 12:30. I get the weekly specials emailed to me and we were craving the Monday special, Salisbury Steak! The non-smoking dining room was dead, much to my surprise; there was one table of 4 people. So we seated ourselves and waited for a waitress to come over, or even to be acknowledged. And then we waited some more. An older couple came in after us and sat down not too far from us. They were immediately greeted by the waitress with a very raspy voice, and she got their drink order. She brought their drinks, then went over some menu details with them, and then took their order. On the other side of the room the dark-haired waitress(that had a severe foot injury and was in a boot several months ago-she gave my best friend and I her sob story back then and we left her a pretty hefty tip because she clearly needed it more than we did) was working the table of 4. After she spoke to her table, she looked at us a couple of times but instead of coming over she decided it was time to set the other(empty) tables. So she started to put out silverware and what-not. Meanwhile my friend and I sat there. No one said hello, no one said they’d be with us in a moment, NOTHING. So after 18 minutes we got up and walked out. The dark-haired waitress caught our eye as we walked by the counter where you pay(or at least the place you pay when you actually get service, food, and beverages!). Again, nothing was said to us. Needless to say we were furious. Why in the world were we completely ignored?! Who the heck knows. I could maybe see us being overlooked if they had been super busy like they used to be at that time of day, but they were pretty dead. Regardless, you guys have lost a long-time customer. Perhaps this is why the once busy lunch spot was dead at 12:30…crappy service, or really just the lack of service in general!

I really have to make an additional comment about this restaurant. We went there late Friday night. We were a party of 6 and came in about one hour before closing. Despite this our waitress«server #338» was energetic efficient warm and professional. The food is outstanding, pleantiful and reasonably priced. The cream spinach and the baked beans are the best in Mobile. The roast beef is a treat. The thing that contunously amazes me at this restaurant is the staff. Without exception you are greated by a crew that really seems excited that you are eating at their restaurant. Wow,…congratulations to the person or persons who recruits, trains or retains these people. They are best in this city… without exception.

Checked in with Unilocal and there was a coupon available but when we presented it to the waitress she said it was on for out of state people. It was a half order of green fried tomatoes free. We ordered it anyway. It was a good portion for half an appetizer. But the tomatoes seemed to be working their way out of green. Breaking was good but the tomatoes were mushy. It came with a chipotle ranch sauce but we preferred just the ranch that was also brought out.

Little hole in the wall diner that has become my go to location for Sunday breakfast if I am out riding my motorcycle. It’s just good country cooking. They have 12 different burger variations though I have yet to try any… Trying to get the burger connoisseurs(my wife and daughter) to come try them out. Very reasonably priced, you really can’t go wrong for a quick bite to eat.

ENVIRONMENT: I like the whimsy clocks atmosphere, but the smoky antique-like scent here is not for everyone. I like it bc it brought me back to my childhood times. FYI i don’t smoke… but spent a lot of time in an antique mall. FOOD: There is a lot of it. We came for breakfast. Ordered as if we were at IHOP or Egg n I… but the food portions are ginormous relative to its price. We couldn’t finish half of the food. We should have shared. SERVICE: we had a great waitress. 3.5 stars overall.

Stopped in for lunch on my way into Mobile this past Monday and couldn’t be happier I did. Service was excellent with a friendly and attentive staff. I ordered the hamburger steak with mashed potatoes and field peas. The hamburger was steak was a very good portion, seasoned and cooked to perfection. The gravy over the steak was thick and flavorful. The mashed potatoes were delicious as was the field peas. I would certainly recommend this place to anyone.

We were traveling through from Walt Disneyworld going to Colorado, and stopped for a night. And the service we had was pretty welcoming. There are a lot of certifications on the wall that the waitresses all took for hospitality and hostessing. And I felt taken care of. We had really good food and everything tasted amazing. I would definitely come back again.

This meal didn’t start off well. Sausage they served me was cold after I paid for an upgrade on it. The home fries were also cold when they arrived. The eggs I asked for to be soft scrambled were way overcooked and dry. I had to tell the idiot hostess this twice to get her to go find my waitress so that was ridiculous, apparently she was too wrapped up in a conversation so when I told her my food was cold the first time she did nothing and after I told her the second time all she did was turn and walk away so I had to wait for her to come back and ask AGAIN for my server. Maybe she needs to be replaced? My server offered to take it out the check and I told her«No I was hungry» and she took it and read it and brought back WAYLESS food but not her fault she didn’t cook she didn’t take it off the plate. I’m guessing this is going to be my last stop here. It was great the last time I was here but it’s really gone downhill ever since. Apparently they microwaved my sausage on the same plate because it came back in a swimming pool of grease, see photo, and they also kept most of my home fries in the kitchen so this place it was once so good is now apparently on its way to being a loser. To her credit my server, not the lazy hostess, went out of her way to try and make it right bless her heart so she saved them from a one star review because she was so wonderful. Still they need to start paying attention to the details.

I sincerely like this place. The food & service is great. The waitresses here strive to make your temporary visit with them right with no wrongs, although I am sure they do mess up from time to time, but you can tell they strive for perfection because their boss demands it. I have not witnessed no attitudes from no one. This place is now at the top of my places to go out & get something to eat. My meal today was 3 sides with catfish totaling $ 12.94, fair price. On Saturdays, their daily special is all you can eat catfish with 2 sides for $ 10& some change. They also have free WI-FI, just ask waitress for access code.

Traveling from Texas to Florida I wanted to stop in Alabama for a good Southern breakfast. This place was phenomenal. My son got the pancakes which were huge and that dark brown that good pancakes have to be. Wife got the chicken fried steak and eggs, but being from Texas, the chicken fried steak was good but didn’t measure up to our standards. I went with Everybody’s Favorite Breakfast with two eggs, biscuits with a side of sausage gravy, home fries and I upgraded for fifty cents to the Conecuh link sausage, best decision I’ve ever made. The biscuits and gravy were borderline perfect. The home fries were the best I’ve ever had. But the Conecuh sausage, wow. It’s a local Alabama sausage and it was great for breakfast. The place doesn’t look like much, located in a shopping center next to a grocery store but it’s fantastic. Ambiance is great too with the décor of Clocks all over the wall. Definitely check this gem out.

There may not be sufficient room to completely share how disappointed my visit was on May 9, 2015, about 2 pm. I walked in — and I walked right out. The dining room on the non-smoking side — every table was either seated(three tables were seated) or dirty. So, I left to Rousse’s next door, to give the staff a moment to catch up after what must have been a doozy of a lunch rush. I asked in Rousse’s what the food was like and got good reviews. I should probably complain to Rousse’s about the quality of those opinions. I re-enter, thinking that maybe they are short-staffed. I sit, and the servers were quick-moving, darting around, but fairly attentive. My server never asked me how I wanted my AYCE catfish. It came to me fried. When fish is fried well, it’s white, flaky, and firm. This stuff was mushy and greasy. The fries were crisp. The baked beans were very sweet, but good. The hush puppy’s were bland and likely store bought frozen, not fresh.(Fresh hush puppies are never completely round like these.) So, I pushed it out of my way. After about 7 minutes, the server asks me if I want water — doesn’t even notice the full plate of over-fried fish. I had to tell her to bring me blackened instead of fried. Another 8 – 10 minutes later, she brings out some more. The presentation was much better than the fried, but the fish was still mushy and greasy. Essentially, I think their fish was old, if it was ever fresh. And, it wasn’t blackened — just seasoned to death. Almost my death. If you want a country meal — do not go here. You’re better off at Cracker Barrel, or taking the extra time and going to Mobile’s causeway, or to Dauphin Island. Any place would be better than here. I was told when I left(I did complain) — that Ken, the owner was out of town. Poor man. For his sake, I hope he comes back soon and never has to leave again. As for me, I will tell everyone I know to never eat here, as the food is bad and the dining room is dirty. I would rate this place a zero out of 5 if the site would let me. The absolute worst — and I’ve eaten at some dumps before.

Stopped for breakfast, asked for our drinks with our meal, waitress brought drinks about ten minutes after we ordered. 20 minutes later we finally got our food, except my toast. Waitress said toast would be right out, waited 5 minutes, finally had to flag the waitress down, who, yes you guessed it forgot my toast. Eggs are now cold, looks like another long wait for my toast. Guess waitresses don’t depend on their tips here. We won’t be back

A good deal, great service and nice people. I’m not a big fan of grits but I accidentally ordered them and they were awesome. If you’re looking for investing advice or just good conversation, come in on a Friday morning and look for a few old timers talking about stocks and dividends. I’ll be back!

Great breakfast. Good service. Generous portions. Western Omelette was very good. Kids had pancakes and French toast. Both were good. Bacon was great! Definitely a good place for breakfast. Can’t wait to come back to try the burgers!

One of the things that was on my list during our road trip through the south was to stop for pie. I don’t know why, but I just wanted to stop for pie. So we did so at this cute little place off the highway. We ordered the chocolate pie and the paradise pie(cream with pineapples?). The pies were good and decent and it was at a good price. The thing though that we appreciated was the kindness and great hospitality of the server. She was very sweet and was not afraid to give her opinion to ensure we got the best product. True southern hospitality at its finest! :)

Chose this place for dinner as we had been there for breakfast a few years ago. I remembered it as being quaint and having good food. I ordered the roast beef… it was a little dry for my taste. They brought my dinner minus one sweet potato stick. While I appreciated that they had a count for them but it was odd that they brought one on it’s own plate after I was ½ way done with my meal. We ordered pie for desert. The waitress stated that she was going to charge my mother less for her piece of pie as it was cut small. The service was slow for us as our waitress was apparently only helping out in our dining area. They didn’t explain that the number placed on the table was our check so we waited several minutes for her to finally show up at our table and explain that. I didn’t appreciate that the waitress we asked initially didn’t explain that to us. I did not like that I could not review the bill before paying for the meal. I was not able to determine if the pie was charged less or not. I was not given a receipt as I paid with cash for the meal. It might be a while before I go back again.

We craved comfort food and found it at «Time To Eat.» The food is fabulous! I had excellent fried catfish(a tricky dish to make right) and it was light and flakey, the best I’ve ever had. The turnip greens are also the best I’ve had, a little spicy and with a lot of bacon. Dad had red beans, rice and locally made Conecuh sausage. He said it was«rich, hearty and very satisfying.» The pecan pie was perfect, plenty of nuts and not overly sweet. The prices are reasonable. We definately got lot of food for a good value. The staff, including waitress Becky and co-owner Alfredo Fernandez are friendly and attentive. We received excellent service and stayed just to talk to them after our meal because it was so much fun. The décor is really cute, there are at least a hundred clocks on the walls all stopped at different times letting us all know it’s always«Time To Eat»!
