In a town that has nothing, TipTop is a much needed hangout for the people and visitors of Thomas. Many coffee shops have come and gone in Thomas and Davis, but TipTop, being as popular as it is, may just make it. I give the place 4 stars because of its great atmosphere and amazing baked goods. There is a different selection of pastries, cookies, and more each day, all which are fresh, delicious, and made locally. The reason that I can’t quite give that final star is because I feel that their drinks aren’t as outstanding as they could be. The plain coffee is good, but the drinks like the Chai Tea and Hot Cocoa are lacking some sweetness and flavor. The Hot Cocoa is not very chocolatey at all and not very sweet. I think that they should take some of that amazing artisan chocolate that is sold in store and melt into the drink to make a truly chocolatey drink! Hopefully TipTop can keep its doors open and continue to become a cozy joint and place to go in Thomas!

We have followed Tip Top to their«new location» in Thomas. this place is great. They have the best meatloaf sandwich I have ever had. The owners are great people and the staff are alway very nice. I highly recommend this place. The old hipnocoffee with Mt State brew is great. Keep up the great job. You are part of the Thomas revival!

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way home from Blackwater Falls. This is a great little coffee shop with great coffee and food. This place also has a cool, hipster-ish atmosphere and reasonable prices. I’d definitely recommend stopping by if you’re in the area!

Fantastic pastries, and chai with a bar that had cinnamon, nutmeg, cayenne, and ginger. Also, honey! Beautifully designed, great atmosphere, and fantastic food!

Stop by if you’re in the area as this coffee shop is superb. You get what you pay for, from the freshly-baked goodies that are to-die-for, to the gourmet chocolate bars & coffee for sale. If you’re into the BESTOFTHEBEST, Tip Top is just that. Came here twice in one day(morning and evening) cuz they were THAT good. Like their description mentions, this is a coffee shop, not a breakfast joint :-) –Customer Service= 5 stars –Overall quality of coffee=5 stars –Overall quality of loose tea=5 stars –Baked goods= 5 stars(came here during the fall & their pumpkin cupcake was perfect) –Vibe/ambiance=5 stars –Food offerings=5 stars(got homemade beef chili to go — which was really good the next day!) –Prices= steep, but don’t come to these sort of coffee shops if you’re looking for Wawa prices, people! Note: They’re not huge and this probably isn’t the best place to come if you’re looking for quiet time to yourself(unless it’s during off-peak hours). The vibe is chill and the people are even chiller. Plenty of off-street parking. Can’t wait to come back here.

I stop at this place at least a few times whenever I visit the town of Thomas. They always make a delicious iced mocha that is way better than any Starbucks. My other favorite item of theirs is the blueberry cream cheese tart that usually sells out each day before noon, so get it early! The staff is very friendly and I’m already familiar with the owners Cade and Nathan. The place is always spotless even after messy customers come through, and the individual restrooms are immaculate at all times. This is a great place to lounge for a bit or even just to get something to-go. There is wi-fi available for customers and comfortable seats with tables that make good surfaces for writing or computer work. There is also a bar seating area by the kitchen where the friendly locals often congregate and interact with the employees. I am often surprised even to see that they are open during late hours unlike other establishments in the area. This is a plus for people like me who require late night coffee. Best of all this place is wheelchair accessible thanks to a neat improvised ramp provided so graciously by WV On The Go(that’s what the logo on the ramp says). Special mention goes out to the other staff members that make each of my visits an excellent experience, Kimberly, Morgan, Melissa, Heather, and anyone else I might have forgotten. I will keep coming back and bring along my fellow D.C. friends most certainly.

We were headed out from Blackwater Falls and we’re looking for a coffee place. We found Tip Top. I had the latte with vanilla. Most excellent coffee! My husband had the French press which they filled up twice for him. He loved it! The pumpkin bread with expresso frosting is wonderful! We loved the laid back friendly vibe. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

It’s just the best coffee around! And it’s better than most anything you’ll find elsewhere too. Cool little place with nice friendly cool funky people working there. Bar, cakes, lounge, food. Right in Thomas. Worth a stop.

The coffee was lukewarm and the attitudes of staff were chilly, to be polite. Dropped $ 40 in this quaint little café and left with a bad taste.

We have stopped by here a few times and experience the same rude service every time. I wouldn’t mind how pricey it is if they could at least be nice. I thought the whole idea of a coffee house was so you could get your coffee the way you like it. Not so here. Won’t stray from the menu. 2 stars for the cookie.

I’d readily drive the three hours from DC to come to Tip Top. The irony is that this place is better than any coffee shop I’ve found in the greater DC area, both in terms of coffee and atmosphere, yet it’s smack-dab in the middle of a nature lovers paradise way out in the frickin’ boonies! Who knew?!

This place really has it going on in terms of atmosphere, however it’s seriously lacking when it comes to breakfast food. Came here on our way back to DC from a ski week at Canaan Valley. I was so excited to come here based on all of the excellent Unilocal reviews; however, I wasn’t as charmed by TipTop as my fellow Unilocalers were. Here’s the breakdown: Service: Friendly. I have no complaints here. The staff was very kind and helped me select a beautiful tea. Food: Non-existent except for a few Vegan pastries. We had a long drive ahead so we were looking for something more substantial. We hoped they served breakfast, but we were terribly disappointed when they told us all they served for breakfast was pastries. The staff told us to try another restaurant down the street, The Flying Pig, sadly they were closed. We decided to grab some coffees/teas and hit the road. Drinks: Dahul House Tea– very delicious. Hints of ginger and peach. Loved this tea. Kenyan coffee– my boyfriend reported it was good, but not worth the high price. It was on par with other«trendy» coffee, like Intelligentsia. Hot cider– my friend noted it was«average, nothing special, but tasty.» Atmosphere: Like a trendy Brooklyn coffeehouse. They had nice seating areas, cool lightning, and cute items for sale like chocolate bars and mugs. The coffee was also made via a beautiful glass pour over coffee maker. Prices: Everything was over priced. Total cost for one small tea and one small coffee was $ 9.00. Overall, this is a cute place and if I lived nearby I would probably come here for a tea and to get some work done. If you are from a larger city or town, you likely have a ton of trendy coffeehouses like this, so don’t go out of your way to come here. It’s really nothing special. However, if you live somewhere without a trendy coffee spot then check this place out.

They do drinks right and they have a great burger. If you are passing through Thomas and can make it for a Friday night burger night, compliment your burger with a daddy old fashioned and you are destined for a classic night.

The most notable feature of this place was, sadly, the appallingly negligent service I experienced at this establishment, twice in a row over a weekend trip. I ordered food and both days I went to the restaurant, it was«forgotten». The first time, I made a second special request after my order appeared to be ‘forgotten’, and the next time, I asked for a refund. I came here with a group of six friends. It seemed the cashier/coffee barrista was distracted by the multi-tasking to such an extent that both days, my food order(a bowl of pre-made soup) was not put in and never served to me. While members of my party ahead of me in the line were already seated and eating their lunch, I sipped my coffee and waited for my lunch… in vain. I knew something was wrong when people behind me in the line were actually eating but I still hadn’t received my order. I humored the waitress on the first day, caught her eye as she was mincing around flirting with patrons, told her my order again, and allowed her to pretend that she was just tardy bringing it out… It was highly annoying that she didn’t apologize for omitting my food order after it was paid for. It was obvious she was covering up her negligence. The same thing happened the very next day… with a male cashier this time. I waited incredulously, but the cashier man and the cook seemed in no hurry to bring out my tomato soup with a slice of bread on the side.(Dole out some soup from a pot? How difficult can that be?) By the time everyone in my party had already finished eating their orders(which are brought out at various times by the cook or the cashier) and were headed out, I went up to ask for a refund for my food order that never materialized. I can’t really think of anything else to say about a place that served everyone else in the establishment but me. I could put it down to sheer chance or I could note that I was the only non-white member of my group. This kind of business practice that would not fly in a big city like Portland or Boulder but apparently this selectively targeted«unintentional» negligence is still par for the course in Thomas. On the plus side their pour over coffee is quite good. Their pastries seemed delicious to my friends, who were served food without incident. Won’t be going here again! Shame on these representatives of Thomas culture. They should send me an apology and two free meals. HELLO?!!

We always swing by Tip Top for coffee/breakfast in the mornings, and a drink in the evenings when we take a weekend trip to the area. My husband and I come to the nearby state parks several times a year and have always had a great experience at tip top. It is an interesting concept, coffee and pastries in the front, and a bar on the side serving up an excellent selection of local beers and amazing cocktails. The cocktail list is impressive and they carry high quality spirits. The employees are always incredibly good, willing to talk, and genuinely making sure you have a great experience. The coffee is excellent. We especially love the pour over options. What a treat! This weekend we also tried a bouchon which was something we were not familiar with but absolutely loved. The cream cheese for the bagels is made in house and very tasty. It is apparent the owner is devoted to serving high quality products, with local, top notch ingredients. It is nice to find a place that shares our passion for good food and drink.

Super gorgeous, high quality coffeshop. It looks like it could belong in Brooklyn or Portland. I got a pour over which was very good and I got some good hiking info from the barista while I waited. The blueberry and chocolate scone was utterly delicious and had some seriously expensive chocolate in it. There is also a bar with some fancy cocktails. They have some sandwich selections, but it’s a pretty small menu. I think they do dinner certain nights of the week. Overall super hip and delicious spot to check out.

I had an orgasm today in my mouth when I ate my salami sandwich at Tip Top. One of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had. Cade keeps one upping himself with his menu.

Great coffee! I have taken to drip coffee and they did not disappoint. I enjoyed the Ethiopian beans, a nice dark coffee. The store has a great atmosphere: little booths to tuck into, open tables to spread out a group on, even a kids area. The mood and music was also trendy coffee store style. I feel like I could come back with my laptop and work in peace!
