In terms of overall enjoyment, my review is really 3 stars. They deserve an extra star because of the frosting; it’s not gunky, buttery, or sweet. The cake part could be tastier in a bunch of the flavors. They are creative with their toppings, which I appreciate. The prices are reasonable.

Cakes are good, prices are reasonable, but customer service is not good. The employees aren’t rude, per se, just bored and indifferent. I always feel like an unwelcome interruption on a job they don’t like anyway.

60 days away from the big day, my fiancé and I went to our scheduled cake tasting which was included in our wedding package. and let me tell you: it was an amazing experience! Tanya and John were super friendly and so helpful throughout the process. They are very flexible with the design and flavors and willing to do anything you need. We brought a picture of a cake design we liked and Tanya said she could make it happen! All around great local business with amazing owners.

Rarely do I find a business that flawlessly executes their business well enough to deserve five stars, but when I do, it is because they deserve it for consistently exceeding my expectations. If I could give Cutie Pies more Stars I would, but instead I will highly recommend that others discover not only the phenomenal quality and creativity there but the passionate staff that makes you feel like you are guests in their homes. My wife and I have gone several times and conclude that they are the best specialty bakery in the county and possibly beyond. No place motivates us more to go out of our way than this place and I only wish this part of Thomaston was more in our usual driving path so we could drop in more often. Everything tastes fresh and delicious including the coffee. Prices are what you pay for store bought junk, which is extremely reasonable when you can taste the difference in the higher quality ingredients they use. The seating area is clean, comfortable and inviting a good conversation over some goodies. Except for the irresistible cheese cake, I rarely have the same thing twice. There are always new cup cakes to compete with the favorites. Today we couldn’t resist sharing the Heath Bar cup cake and Chocolate Almond Cherry cup cake with the rich creamy Cheese Cake too of course. The pies are also scrumptious and the cannoli’s are a must take home item. I like their hours too because we like to go out for«Tea and Crumpets» between 5 — 6 pm when most bakeries are either closed or have nothing still fresh. Going to Cutie Pies is no ordinary experience and I can caution everyone that it will be habit forming. Another warning to you is that you may not enjoy this place if you don’t have a trained palate to appreciate it. So you should avoid this place if you like spun lard, hydrogenated oil, artificial flavors and preservatives. Thomaston you are a lucky town to have Cutie Pies because they deserve to be in a more sophisticated metropolitan area where they can charge more for this quality. Sorry, I would have taken pictures but I ate it all faster than I could get my camera to focus!

I’ve come to the conclusion that I prefer Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines cupcakes over ones from a bakery. Not that the cupcakes I picked up yesterday at Cutie Pies were awful, but honestly, they just didn’t do it for me. Very similar to the ones you get from the Sugar Cupcake Truck in New Haven(and that is quite popular). So, for anyone reading this review, just wanted to let you know it’s just a matter of preference. You might very well love the baked goods found at Cutie Pies. Certainly the place is very clean & presentable, and the product is fresh tasting.

Okay I love the concept of a bakery being located in a small sleepy town such as Thomaston. I have given this bakery a few chances and wanted to love it but I can’t. Let me start with me ordering a strawberry short cake birthday cake… it was pretty tasty but it only had the equivalent of 6 sliced fresh strawberries in one big 12 inch cake. Then I tried the brownies and chocolate cup cake and I could not detect a chocolate flavor, just a bland tasteless mess. Lastly I tried the pies, a blueberry pie since the apple crumb pie that they had on offering was burnt on top(don’t know why they would put that out to sell), any way the pie was beautiful large and impressive, but unfortunately the crust tasted like vegetable shortening and it was in dire need of some salt and a bit of sugar, the filling was canned even during blueberry season? ! I hate to give such a poor rating but I do feel justified especially when ordering a chocolate dessert where it tastes nothing like chocolate… I think I’ve made my point! I hope that the owner reads this review and takes note, only for the purpose that they can improve on a good concept:)

We finally have a great bakery in town! My husband recently retired from the United States Navy after serving 26 years. I wanted to make sure that everything was picture perfect. This bakery not only did that but they also added USN logo to the cake. My husband’s favorite cupcake from this bakery is the white cake w/cheesecake filling and fresh strawberries. Cutie Pies not only made his favorite flavor but turned a cupcake into a show stopper. We personally like whipped cream frosting. They not only gave us what we wanted but also made sure it didn’t melt(considering the party was in July)

Excellent bakery. Clean and bright inside with a great staff and a smiling owner(who just had the cutest baby I’ve ever seen). Nice place to sit down with a coffee and something sweet. Great cheesecake and wonderful tasting colorful cupcakes. Beautiful wedding and birthday cakes. Willing to make any cupcake frosting combination. Favorite must try are the creamsicle cupcake and grasshopper pie!
