Great Pizza and grinders. Super busy on Fridays. The team that runs the place seemed to have known all their customers on a first name basis– unique for a pizza place these days. Seemed family friendly!

The good: Pizza here is NY style and can be bought by the slice. The buffalo chicken slice is better than most in CT. The slices tend to taste better than the takeout pies. I’ve found the pies to go to have very tough crust probably from being overly worked. Calzones are very good. Staff is usually welcoming. The bad: Meatballs come out of a bag. Really? I’m always surprised when a Italian place can’t make a meatball. Skip the chicken cutlet Parm. Chicken is overcooked to begin with then is completely killed when reheated to order.

Salad is eh– too much iceberg. Not ripe tomatoes. They will always make carbonara which is my favorite. The Alfredo and the pizza were both good.

Hometown makes our favorite pizza(aside from the famous Frank Pepe’s, 45+min away), plus they have the best variety for slices, a pretty good selection of beers on tap, fresh ingredients, and the staff always takes great care of us. They spoil their regulars! And don’t miss their N.E. Clam Chowder special, Fri, Sat, and Sunday. Delicious, and soooo rich!

Love the pizza here, and love that I can grab slices to go after work. So convenient! Grinders and calzones are good too!

We stopped here after riding the Xmas train in town. There were six adults and three children. We walked in and were seated right away which was awesome. Service was quick and accommodating considering it being a Saturday night at 7 pm. We had grinders and pizza. All was very well done and very large portions. Very impressed. Great place for kids, feat place for groups and a great place for quick service.

I had a great Philly steak and cheese grinder from here. It was enough to share(or have for lunch the next day). It was so good!

Pizza is fantastic however don’t drink the coffee, just saw tha waitress water down the last bit to give to a customer and then brew a new pot on what was left in the watered down pot.

Second night in a row we were up in Thomaston. We were at Crabby Al’s last night, but I had a desire for a meatball grinder tonight, so we gave Hometown Pizza a try. Hadn’t been there in a few years(and then only to stop for a quick slice of pizza), so wasn’t sure what to expect. Ordered the meatball-sausage grinder — to put it mildly, it was pretty nasty(I’m now feeling some stomach discomfort about an hour & a half after eating it). My gf ordered a small Sorrentina pizza — chicken, eggplant and ham. Now that was fairly good(I also had one slice). But honestly, can’t say I’d stop back in to Hometown Pizza anytime soon, that«grinder» really turned me off.

This place is really hit-or-miss on their pizza. Sometimes you get something that is great, other times you get something that doesn’t look like they cared about it at all, threw it in a box and labeled it pizza.

Second visit. I usually get pizza slices, sausage or just mozz. Nice. This visit I had a combo sausage/meatball grinder, fresh bread, I added roasted peppers which were from a jar… tasty but quite sour, sausage slices were grilled and browned first which was also tasty. Above average… busy at lunch so I’ll allow for not seeing the waitress again as she was working the entire large restaurant.

Very well made pizza always made fresh and loaded with toppings. Good place to order take out or visit with a group of friends/family. I recommend the sausage and pepper pizza, the sausage is crumbly and the peppers are a mix of flavorful green and red goodness.

I dunno, this place always hit the spot for me. I would visit at least twice a week last summer, as I was interning up in Litchfield. It was on the way, and the pizza was nice and tasty. Crispy, yet not too thin bread on the bottom, gooey, flavorful cheese and sauce on top. I would run the risk of driving while eating it out of the box on the way back down Route 8. I’m sure it’s not the best — but that doesn’t mean it’s terrible. It’s actually pretty good. If they still stock Vanilla Coke, grab one of those with a few slices.

The pizza at Home Town Pizza 3 is pretty gross, and that is a shame because 1) the restaurant has the word pizza in the title and 2) it is claiming to be a good«home town» representation. I do not want that horrible, tasteless pizza to be the representation of MY home town or anyone elses. Because it is local, I have been dragged there more times than I care to admit, and I have to say I have not enjoyed almost every item on the menu– grinders are under-filled with mediocre toppings, salads are wilted with cheap supermarket dressings, the ONLY thing that tastes good at Home Town Pizza 3 is their calzones. For some reason I cannot fathom, while the rest of their menu is mediocre at best, they manage to make very good, cheesy, steamy and delicious calzones with a flavorful marinara dipping sauce. In fact, if they changed their name to «Home Town Calzone» I would consider giving them another star! Honestly though, skip this place if you live in Thomaston and eat at the new Spanish/Mexican place near Black Rock School. At least their food is authentic!
