Branchton Park is the older, less abrasive, more romantic and nerdy cousin to Flatwoods. It is a quaint little park at the corner of Cross Creek and Morris Bridge. It is the kind of place you go to walk your cat, play fetch with your dog, teach your son how to do a crossover dribble or push your baby carriage around in a circle. If you are riding a bike, rollerblading or doing any other activity which might require you to scream out obnoxiously«On your left» than this is not the park for you. There is no room for those kind of shenanigans here. In the front of the park, Branchton has a small playground and a basketball court for the younger crowd. These are rarely in use when I am there(early Saturday/Sunday) so if you are looking for a decent court to play pickup games, this might be the place for you. The only downfall for those wishing to make it an extended stay is that there are no bathrooms or water fountains anywhere to be found. You need to come prepared. This means bringing your own with you or carrying your wallet because Publix is just a hop of the fence away. I could also see Branchton Park being a bit of a lover’s paradise. There are benches placed periodically around the loop. They are far enough apart so as to offer you the feeling of being alone in the world. That’s why they would be perfect for sitting with a date, holding hands and eating sushi. Or reciting poetry.
