A World of Tile

Let me start this off by saying I created a Unilocal account specifically for this review.
A World of Tile was recommended to us by our contractor as a possible vendor for our tile. I went to the store the week of ¹²⁄₇ and found a tile that was perfect. I let the guys know that I needed it by ¹²⁄₁₇ because we had scheduled our contractor for 12÷17−18. Even though the tile was discontinued, he assured me that by putting a deposit down on the full order would get the tile here by ¹²⁄₁₆.
I called back the very next day to confirm the order pick up day, and that’s when Sean, the store manager told me only 90sqft was going to be in the store on Tuesday and the rest of the order would be in the following week. This was a big problem since this was only enough tile for one bathroom. I took it for what it was worth and let the contractor know the circumstances. Another $ 300 was going to be tacked onto the labor bill since another set of trips had to be made to the house to do the second bath.
I went to the store Wednesday ¹²⁄₁₆ to pick up the tile, and there was only 14sqft delivered! They had no idea where the rest of the order was, or when it was going to be delivered. On top of that, he let me know there was only 95sqft ordered even though I put the deposit down for 110. The salesman who originally placed the order called the store manager (Sean) to see if he knew anything, and Sean informed him the rest of the order wasn’t going to be in until Christmas Eve. Not only was I lied to about the amount of the order, but the store manager knew the order wasn’t going to be there on the date promised and never bothered to call and let us know.
When I returned to the store to return the sample tiles and to get my deposit refunded, the store manager couldn’t get me out the door quick enough. No apology, and didn’t even try to rectify the situation.
Luckily Lowes had a very similar tile with enough in stock to do both bathrooms which was great, and we didn’t have to spend an extra $ 300 in labor with our contractor.
I would steer clear of this store. Clearly they have no idea what they’re doing, and customer service isn’t something they care about.

I’m going with 2 stars because the employees were friendly. Incompetent but friendly. Our order that was supposed to arrive in 5 to 7 days took three weeks because someone in their home office forgot to order it. This was especially frustrating because we specifically checked with the tile manufacturer to make sure our desired tile was in stock and since WOT blew off ordering our tile for nearly two weeks it was then out of stock and had to be shipped from across the country. Super frustrating as we were left waiting with an unusable bathtub. And they require payment in advance so they had our money and we had lots and lots of waiting. They offered absolutely nothing for our trouble or our wait and actually tried to compliment themselves by saying that they were «following up» on our order. They also seem t be unable to accurately figure out how much tile you’ll actually need even when you provide them measurements; we have almost two full boxes of extra tile that is, of course, not returnable. So we spent an extra few hundred dollars that we didn’t need to. We’ll never do business with them again.

I have used these guys 4 times prior to me going again. Chris is great BTW. I get great service and they can help you match colors or show you tile patterns to make more interesting. I have done two fire places and two bathrooms. I am going again to do another bathroom and shower area. Wish me luck! They have financing which I am going to take advantage since the total job is like $ 23K. :0
Also, you must be patient they get a lot of future planners and they have to help people by first come first serve.
