I have never had a problem with this store in the past. I have always found most of the staff to be very helpful in every respect. I had a problem with one staff member recently who publicly chastised the employee that was helping me and then was rude and condescending towards me. I called to discuss the matter with the store manager who just gave me lip service and showed that she really did not care at all. I ended up returning everything i had bought there and will gladly be driving to other stores from now on, some of the other stores might even be pottery barns. I would avoid this store at all cost, if the item I want is only available at pottery Barn, I will drive to Santa Monica or Sherman Oaks. I will not go back in this store. What a disappointment the management at this store is.

I have been coming to this location for years and always receive friendly service. The ladies always ask if I need help, are patient to answer my questions, and are not snotty if you just browse and leave. This I really appreciate because at times I look around the store to see items I like in person then just order online once I made my mind up about everything, did my measuring etc. Overall, PB is one of my favorite places to shop and this location is great.

They have a beautiful selection of home items but it’s so expensive. I can’t get myself to spend that kind of money when there are other home item stores that are much cheaper.

If there were a way to give zero stars, I would. I placed an online order. MISTAKE. I read tons of negative reviews about customer service and terrible issues with delivery. Bottom line: They don’t care about customers. My furniture was supposed to be delivered on November 26. I talked to two different people on November 25 who confirmed. So we moved all the old furniture to the garage(tons of work.) Furniture didn’t arrive, but we were having company for Thanksgiving, so we had to move all the old stuff back in(tons more work.) When I called to find out what was going on(probably call #7!!) I was told that all the dates were estimated(which is ridiculous because two people told me the dates were confirmed.) And then I was told that even though the dates were estimated, it usually took longer. Why oh why can’t they communicate accurate information? Each person I talked to had a different story! I don’t mind waiting. I mind being lied to, and doing a ton of extra work because of it. I ordered furniture from Pottery Barn several years ago and had no problems. But something at the company must have changed since then. Never again.

Loved the service that I received here. Melissa and Marie attended very graciously to my special requests. And of course, everything in there is to die for!

Pottery Barn is a mass-merchandiser of home furnishings, tableware and linens. Owned by William Sonoma, PB is the next logical step up from Ikea, Cost Plus or Pier One, with heavier construction, employing solid hardwoods frequently and less-Euro centric design profile. The items are mostly made in Asia, with quality finishes and details. Most of the items are safe, non-threatening and will fit into a wide variety of decorative styles. The Thousand Oaks location has a separate section of for table wares, dining service linens, glassware etc. The main entrance of the store has a constantly changing assortment of the«greatest hits» of the current PB collection. I’ve purchased holidays dinner plates, pillows for the patio, picture frames, etc. over the years. And yet, the mainly(all I’ve ever seen is women) female staff seems to only be interested in men over the age of 50 who can purchase more than three SUVs worth of anything from them. I’ve had friendlier service in an unairconditioned DMV office in July. While freshly showered, conservatively dressed and overly polite, I’ve been: Ignored, given the wrong items from the stock room, had to request multiple times to have glass items wrapped with paper, been on the receiving end of «whatever,» given the wrong inventory information for other stores, etc. Poor, poor service unless you are a rich, single man with a fat wallet and a bad ticker. This location of Pottery Barn is staffed by the women from the Island of Angry Starter Wives. I feel as if I wore a shirt that was silkscreened with the words, «I own a yacht» that I might possibly receive adequate service. If I came into the store saying, «I’ve lost my black Amex. Help!,» that I might witness a fight to assist me in a purchase. Never have I met a staff that has such blatant and overwhelming disregard for patrons. Try the Manhattan Beach store. It’s worth the drive.
