Greasy spoon. Reuben sandwich was a sauerkraut sandwich with a few thin, dried-out slices a grilled corned beef. Chicken and Star Soup was peppery and watery. It had plenty of stars, some chicken and carrot slices but the broth was flavorless. Not fresh — not worth my time and money.

We were looking for an old school diner and really wanted to like this place. From the photos on the menus and walls, looks like it was once a place with a warm sense of community and fun cast of characters. Not so when we were there. It had a weird, negative vibe. Neither the cook nor his waitress daughter cracked a smile or made any type of friendly overture. Courteous at best. The waitress put 2 mugs of hot coffee and pitcher of cream right in front of my 2 year old and thankfully he grabbed only the cream and spilled it everywhere. We cleaned it up quickly and I don’t blame her for acting annoyed, but next time put that stuff in front of an adult! We were only 1 of 2 tables and waited forever for our food. Our waffles were both burned and tough. My husband thought his reuben was decent. When he went to get our 2 year old out of the kitchen, he was shocked at how filthy it was, including lots of food on the floor. Huge disappointment. Unfriendly service, mediocre food.

I would never go back to this place. After my breakfast of bacon and eggs I had to check into the hospital. I stayed in bed for 5 days with liquid flowing from both ends. I would have never expected that from this place.

Yes this place has mixed reviews. For us, its a solid four star hang out! We go here for many reasons. It’s good food for the money, the community atmosphere and to support the dying art of a family owned and run business. The owner cooks, his daughters take turns working here and when they aren’t, the friendly waitress remembers you each time you come in. That is the entire staff. Yes, there are culinary delights scattered throughout the bay area with finely crafted omelets at $ 15+… this place is not that. If you want an awesome breakfast burrito and a good cup of joe– all under $ 10 — this is it. You can sit in this old school diner and enjoy the cast of customers that have been coming here for a great many years. They will share the paper with you and talk about sports. They remember you and ask about your family. They take care of each other. If you ask for something like BANANA pancakes(not offered on the menu) — you won’t be able to get it if he doesn’t have them — HOWEVER, he will give you two GINORMOUS pancakes that fill the entire dinner plate and is delicious! Lunch is just as good and as the breakfast. This place is solid! The homemade soups are great. Tuna sandwiches on toasted bread with chips, delicious well priced burgers with a chunk of avocado on it, grilled cheese for the kids. They are kid and family friendly and even have toys and books for them to use while there. The soda bar is awesome — we love the black cows, milkshakes etc. It’s hard to find a place like this these days. If you’re looking for amphibious landing craft shaped pancakes with a selection of fillings — this is not for you! If you are looking for a great old school diner with personality and tried and true food at a good price then head on over to Tiburon Diner!

Walked in with my kids. Sat down inside and got attacked by flys. The guy in the corner told to move to another table where the flys aren’t as bad. Great. My son wanted banana pancakes so my wife asked the cook if they could make them. He rolled his eyes and said sarcastically–«did you bring your own bananas?» We left.

Wow, such a disappointment. Paid $ 9.00 for a breakfast sandwich, that came out as just a sandwich, nothing else. just a sandwich. The lady was horrendously rude. The menu clearly said«avocado» on the sandwich, came out with no avocado. So I casually asked the waitress«hey is their avocado on this?» she snarkly replied«no it’s not even on the menu» Other then that, I sat in perfect view of the kitchen, and as the cook was putting our plates together, we made eye contact, as he stole a small piece of egg from my plate and put it in his mouth! Yes, his mouth! Licking his fingers then continued to prepare my dish. I was honestly so scared that I was going to get Hepatitis A. Needless to say, I will never be going back.

The small town charm of this place doesn’t make up for the average food and the dirty coffee mugs. Or the chalky aftertaste both my friend and I had after drinking the coffee(the only thing we had in common, and we had only had breakfast that day). The spinach omlette looked great, but there were big chunks of garlic in almost every bite! My friend picked most of them out and it looked like it could have easily been at least 2 cloves! My pancakes were good, bacon was cooked well(perfectly crispy and tasty). Service was mediocre.

We ate here twice last week as we were staying across the street at the Lodge. It is tiny and quaint. The bar, the chairs, the equipment, all old school. When you walk in, you get a warm greeting from the owner and immediate attention. I think his daughters work here, but not positive about that. What I do know is that everyone who works here is laid back, soft spoken, and attentive. When you place your order, he starts cooking immediately. Both times I ordered an omelette with mushroom, chicken, tomato, and avocado and got the potatoes as my side. While I do love me some cheesy, greasy, home-cooked food, on vacation, I need some healthy meals to make up for the unhealthy stuff I eat and drink. This is where I can get them. The potatoes are either roasted perfectly or fried with hardly any oil. They are not greasy at all. Same with the omelette. My point is, the food is fresh, delicious, and not at all greasy or heavy. I love the fact that locals come in and get greeted by name. Also, if you are craving a hand-dipped shake or malt, this is the place to come!

Mike makes the best soup ever! So tasty, savory, and delicious, and chock full of great, fresh ingredients. I just had his chicken soup with rice and it was fabulous! I’ve also had the broccoli salad and his lentil soup, both of which were also very good. It’s a diner, but not a typical greasy spoon. Plus Mike and Rosa are super nice. Give it a try!

Food is always great. Rosa and Mike’s girls are delightful staff. Burgers and eggs you will find. Best way to start the day on a wk end if you want a laid back feel. Won’t race you out the door. Not a greasy spoon but an old style diner with good food all around. As a local and former resident it was the place to go for breakfast and lunch especially with my dear dear friend, Jeff. Thanks guys for all the yrs flipping burgers and making eggs!

Popped in for a breakfast sandwich to-go — very fast, scrambled eggs were perfectly cooked(I’m picky about them) and avocado was fresh. Nice service!

This used to be Dave & Mikes, but now it’s only one of them, so I guess he changed the name to the Tiburon Diner. Still the best burger in town(with real meat, no frozen formed patties served here!). If for some odd reason you haven’t tried this place, stop in for a delicious breakfast/lunch at my favorite greasy spoon in town. I’ll be back for sure! :-)

Nice little diner in Tiburon. Came here on sunday after taking a little walk. Didn’t have a problem getting a seat. Service was fast and attentive. I really liked the vibe of the place. Nice quiet down home feel. Got the corn beef hash and eggs. Was good but to much onions and green peppers for me. But thats just personal preference. Next time im in the neck of the woods ill be back!

The scene – Breakfast on a lazy Sunday morning at Tiburon Diner. Small, truly Diner-feeling to this hole in the wall. The counter faces a wall of stainless steel gadgetry, just like I remember from soda fountains of my youth. We ordered, coffee was poured and then we waited. Food arrived after about 15 minutes. Portions are generous and everything was breakfast yumminess. My husband chose an omelet. I had scrambled eggs, sausage and one huge pancake. The cook’s daughter served us. Friendly, but, my piece of advice to her is to be more helpful. She never offered to refill coffee, or even bring cream without me asking. Otherwise, a perfectly pleasant place to fill your tummy.

very disappointed– first of all, they refused to honor my Groupon that had just expired that day. that was pretty tight, especially since the food was just OK. You’d expect a breakfast restaurant to be able to cook eggs, but my eggs over easy had very runny whites, which was gross. the fried potatoes weren’t crispy, but kind of soggy and greasy. All in all we were pretty disappointed and a little resentful that they wouldn’t honor our Groupon.

So I do not know what this guy below me was talking about! This place used to be Dave and Mike’s, and it is the same kind of deal, small, two people working, homey feel. Just because I live in Tiburon doesn’t mean that I am trying to eat high-class and high-price– this is exactly the diner fix I’ve been searching for. My friend and I ordered to pickup one cheeseburger and one patty melt. SCORE! My friends burger was good but my Patty Melt was amazing. perfect. cheesey onions rye great patty. Fries good too! The girl working the counter was super nice too. This place is great!
