My other favorite hometown pizza place — with the added benefit of an Italian buffet! I absolutely love their pizza and cheesebread, and the buffet is nice if you get there during peak times when fresh food is consistently served/changed out. Their sauce is a little more mild/salty and the crust can be a little on the crunchy side — very good if that’s what you’re craving! Like any restaurant, staff come and go and service can vary, but the food is consistently good from either location.

Visited Fort Ball Pizza last Wednesday. My son is attending Heidelberg University this fall and we are on the hunt for good places to eat in Tiffin. We arrived at 4:00 p.m., and there was only one other table of people dining at this early hour. We order the 20″ cheese pizza hoping, fingers crossed, that this pizza would be awesome and I would have lots of leftovers for lunch. The pizza comes out pretty quickly and is barely average. We ate it due to overwhelming hunger, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. Liked the texture of the crust, but did not care for the flavor. Cheese was average and sauce was not very good. The Pizza did not heat up well at all. I actually threw the rest of the pizza away and I’m not sure if I’ve ever thrown pizza away. The other food may be very good there and I would definitely be willing to try some other options, but I wouldn’t try the pizza again. Positive notes: the inside was clean and the waitresses were AWESOME — very personable.

I use to come to Ft. Ball quite frequently when I lived in Tiffin. Hadn’t been there in a couple of years, so I decided to check it out one Sat. afternoon. It was a little disappointing. They still have the huge ravioli, which I’ve always liked. I was disappointed that they no longer have eggs in the salad bar, and the pizzas they had out I didn’t care for.

I have no idea how this place has such a high star rating. Perhaps it’s because the buffet is dirt cheap? Anyway, the food was awful. The pizza was disgusting, the pasta was watered down, overcooked and gross. The service was polite and nice, but the food was just awful. Will not be returning.

A consistently good pizza and salad buffet with plenty of options, including pasta dishes. It’s not the best pizza in town, but it’s tasty enough and the price is right. Great macaroni salad! They do a good job keeping the buffet stocked. I’ve seen them let people get the buffet even when it’s officially ended unlike so many places that start whisking away the food as soon as the clock strikes. The staff is very attentive about removing plates from your table and asking if you want a refill or anything else. They have a banquet room for parties and special occasions.

Coming from Chicago it’s hard to find good pizza around. Fort ball is ok. It consistently seems to be VERY greasy. We tried the buffet but my fiancée swore we’d never go back as the Tiffin natives made it quite unappealing and unappetizing watching all that food being guzzled down some of the largest butts I’ve ever seen in my life. When we order Fort Ball again out of desperation for pizza, we will make sure we get carry out. We have decided regrettably that Pizza Hut is about the best pizza you will get in Tiffin. :(
