Won’t honor older gift cards. Say they have no way to track how much it was for. Apparently that’s my problem.

I came here with my husband on a weekend. We ordered some food and sat down at one of the small tables. The employees are very nice and the place is very well organized. They have a variety of meat for sale as well. The food was pretty good. They also have a little bakery area. My husband really liked their iced tea.

A terrible, disappointing eating experience. Cold sausage, a tiny little unbuttered bun, ice cold potato salad that was nearly completely tasteless… instant coffee. Cute place, smells like heaven. The«meal» however, came from hell. Never again.

I went here to lunch with my dad. I tried the soljanska(sausage goulash) and my dad had the ham and cheese sandwich(this week’s lunch special). My dad spent his very early childhood in Germany and grew up on a ranch and worked in a butchery. Bearing that in mind, he said that it was the best ham he’s every had(besides the butchery’s ham he grew up on). I was delightfully surprised that most of my soup was various sausages. They were all flavorful and tender. The soup came with a delicious, hearty roll. The pastries looked too good to pass up, so I bought a stroebelkuchen(spelling?) for myself and various strudels for the family. I tried a bit of the apricot struduel and was impressed with the thick layers of apricot. The cake had such a thick layer of crumble topping it made up half of the cake and it had an amazing, buttery custard filling. I liked how both pastries weren’t too sweet.

This is a great little German deli. Terrific meats, cheeses and sausages. They also serve homemade strudels, kuchen, and assorted cookies! How awesome is that? Plus lots of great German beers and you can even get some Swiss type chocolates. There is also a small area for lunch customers to sit down and have a bit to eat in the store. I had the sausage sampler plate with 3 sausages, kraut and mashed potatoes all for 7.95! I grew up in Wisconsin and subsisted on brats and beer for good portion of my life there and also worked for a German company located in Bavaria and had to travel back forth quite a bit. This place brought me back to Munich. The flavors are as close to the real thing as you will find in Oregon or at least as far as I have found. I am definitely coming back. I have to try the pork chops and some of the other sausages! I am only sadden by the fact that I have lived in Tigard 20 years and only just today found this little gem.

The name kind of says it all. Bavarian, as in German, sausage as in delicious, and delicatessen as in we sell other stuff too. A guilty pleasure lunch stop for me in the Portland area, this non-descript meat market is the kind of place you just drive right by without noticing. So turn back around and get in here. You will be rewarded with some fine German sausages, sauerkraut, pickles, potato salad and wonderful baked goods if you’re so inclined. They also operate a specialty grocery where you can find imported items, canned goods and specialty candies like marzipan. I’ve stopped in for a wurst and german potato salad, and wow was it good. The Hungarian sausage is red with paprika and the german potato salad has that nice vinegary tang. I will usually take away a few pieces of landjaeger to snack on at other times, and they have several different varieties to choose from. If you have a sweet tooth, you won’t be disappointed as they have a whole case full of fresh baked goods, cookies, cakes, etc. This is primarily a market so seating is minimal, but the food is good and the staff is friendly and happy to tell you all about their products. Get in here, ask a few questions, and try something authentic and a little different.

The outside of this building is fairly industrial and that feeling continues inside with lots of German packaged foods(like curry ketchup!) and a huge glass meat case. Veer to the left and find a small cash register with a specials board hanging above and a couple menus. After grabbing your beer out of the cooler, place your order and open your beer at the cash register and find your seat inside or out. I had sausages and potato salad(the good vinegary german kind) and look forward to getting back again. Just like a carniceria, the eating area is modest and service is very DIY but the food is great.

Work partner and I were meeting with a new client in the neighborhood, and that 11:30 tummy rumbly hit both of us. The client mentioned this«awesome Bavarian deli» a block away, and it just felt right — time to go eat German. Okay, so, first, just to set the stage here: I know absolutely nothing about German food. Honestly I can’t tell der weiner from der schnitzel. That said, with neither of us knowing what to order, we looked up at the chalk sign that said«Oktoberfest!!». Oktoberfest… wait, that’s in October this year? Okay, we’ll try the Oktoberfest Special. The sign read«Weiss Wurst, Brezel, German Potato Salat and Sauerkraut, with 1 Bottle Oktoberfest Beer, $ 10.» Sounded awesome to me, even though my German is rusty enough(read: non-existent) that it extended only to me knowing that«Oktober» translated to «right around this time of year» and Weiss means white. I was a little skeptical tasting something that out the gate was called«wurst» which sounds I think exactly like«worst» and I have no idea what a Brezel is but, when in Rome, right? The food arrived. Oh, now my German is getting a bit better. Weiss Wurst basically translates to «light colored sausage», Brezel is actually a Pretzel, Salat is Salad and Sauerkraut is… sauerkraut. In all seriousness this was fantastic eating. I really have absolutely no idea if this was«good German food». But this was seriously good food that this Amurican found wholly satisfying. The sausage was flavorful, not terribly spicy which is fine, and went amazingly well with the homemade sauerkraut. The pretzel was honestly the best I’ve ever had. Arriving at our table fresh and still-too-hot-to-touch, it was wonderfully flavorful, delightfully chewy, with just the right amount of salt baked in, and went so well with that wonderful mustard provided at the table. The potato salad was nice, but it was basically nice potato salad, nothing more. The sauerkraut was homemade and definitely one of the best I’ve had. The beer(Warsteiner) was excellent, malty and delicious and went perfectly with the plate. Best $ 10 on lunch and a beer I’ve spent in a long time. Definitely a place I’ll return to.

Neat little sausage house. Came during the week and ordered the sausage special platter. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a bag, but the sausage and kraut were decent. Friendly service from an older woman and a nice German fella. They have a deli and various chocolates and other goodies to take home too.

I have been here twice and will keep coming back. The bacon is the best I have ever had. The bacon is about the same price as a grocery store. Tyne sausages are to die for.

One step inside this door, and BAM! You’re hit with the most delightful smell of smoked meat. Among the randomly scattered aisles of German groceries and goods, you’ll find cases of freshly smoked brats, sausages, ham, bacon, pork chops, cheeses, and pastries. They serve breakfast and lunch starting at 9am(there’s a German breakfast offered on the menu that includes a hard boiled egg, cold cuts, toast with jam)…or you can have one of the lunch items. It was a little past breakfast so I opted for the smoked spicy beer sausage. It came with a side and I chose the regular potato salad(as opposed to the German potato salad made with vinegar). My deliciously smoked and perfectly grilled sausage came on a small little circular toasted bun, with some packets of yellow mustard and a scoop of potato salad. I also ordered a side of sauerkraut. This sausage was one of the best I’ve EVER had. I ripped it in half and ate a half with each side of the bun, otherwise the bun to meat ratio would’ve gotten tricky! Everything was so good, the potato salad is amazing so creamy and perfectly seasoned… I don’t know how they cut the potatoes so small and not make it into mashed potatoes, but well done! If I had a complaint or an improvement suggestion it would be to for them to serve their«to-go» sausages with the mustard that you can buy in their grocery section, and have on the tables for dine-in. The packets didn’t do this sausage justice! It needed a hearty mustard, like the kind on the dine-in tables. So if you get a sausage to go, open your wiener and give it a hearty squirt from the table before you leave :). You’ll definitely get a European sized portion here, but if you’re looking for quality over quantity this is where it’s at! And if you’re looking for both, add an extra side and sausage :) I also grabbed some fresh pretzels to go and they have a great taste. A little lighter and airier than a traditional handmade pretzel, but good nonetheless.

Great local German deli! For $ 5 the lunch special was a German sausage soup and bread. It was filled with various delish sausages in a nice tomato base broth. I also added a side of German potato salad $ 1.75 which had a great sourness accenting the salty bacon. For $ 7 this was an awesome deal! If I was local to PDX this would be a weekly lunch spot.

Real Germans running a good store here. Seems like the specialty is the meat and sausages(a nice selection) plus baked goods(think danishes, pretzels and beyond) they sell to go but they also have some things you can eat there. We tried a few of the lunch specials which range from basic deli sandwiches to and sausage they have on a roll to Schnitzel and German potato salad. The sausage was very good and the potato salad very nicely done. Not a fan of the French Dip here but it’s not something I should have ordered anyway with all of the authentic German food options. The people running the place were nice and very helpful. They also have outdoor seating but it’s sealed off so if you bring you dog they would have to stay on the outside tied up, which we did, and he liked the sausages too :)

Yes this place can be a challenge to find but well worth it. They could certainly use a big blinking sign or something. Tucked away on a side street in Metzger Tigard is a german specialty sausage deli! Handcrafted sausage, decent prices and a great selection of german imported groceries. Growing up in Ohio & Pennsylvania it was always a tradition(Amish, Pennsylvania Dutch) to have kraut and some sort of pork for good luck in the New Year. I am sad that I only visit here twice a year due to the fact I am married to a vegetarian. I wish I could visit more. They also have a deli lunch area which I cannot comment on since I have not indulged in yet but I hope to do so in the future. Another cool Euro– foodie establishment in the heart of Tigard. Hope to visit again soon! Try the thuringer, you won’t be sorry. Das ist sehr gut!!!

Oh man… Let me just start off by thanking Unilocal’rs for showing me this place. I’m up for work and found it solely from the Unilocal review. i live sixty miles away and am already planning a trip back. I had the lunch special: soup, roll, butter and for less than $ 5, I figured I’d get a sausage, too. Since it’s a sausage Co., i just told the guy who helped me(who was pretty awesome btw) to choose for me. He decided on a spicy beer sausage. Short wait time and was soo tasty. The sausage alone got me up to the counter for more. It was amazing, great flavor, good texture. They let you sample! I tried the headcheese: garlic and vinegar. Believe me. Try it before you judge it. It’s definitely different, but tastes pretty good. Then, a guy comes from the back and hands me a piece of not-yet-dried salami which I’ll be regretting not buying till i go back up there. Wow. Long story short. Absolutely amazing food, great, low prices. I highly recommend this place.

The very best meat market I the area. The lunch is great too. They carry many speciality products that your typical grocer will not have in stock. The best item they carry is the smoked pork chops, they are so tasty, you can BBQ then or pan fry them. Most recently I got 14 chops(wrapped in 7 packages of 2), 2 kinds of bacon, sausages, and lunch for about $ 70 which is a smokin deal considering that what I brought home will make at least 10 meals. A must visit. Ask the nice folks behind the counter for recommendations.

I love places like this. Sue and I came out this way on Saturday as she’d heard about a market from a friend of hers. Turns out that market is no longer open, but she did a search and found Bavarian Sausage Deli. It wasn’t too far from where we were. The guy behind the counter was super helpful. He went through all the sausages that they were featuring on this day. I ended up with a garlic sausage and a few Weisswurst’s as well some Hungarian Salami which I picked out and he told me he would’ve recommended if I hadn’t picked it out. Guess we were on the same wavelength. I had some of the salami today and it was really good. Yet to try the sausage, but I’m figuring it will be good as well. Aside from a deli it is also a market with all kinds of good German goodies on the shelves and some nice German beers on the floor. I hope to get back here again soon.
