So delicious for some good ‘ol Americanized Chinese food! We had spring rolls, Szechuan shrimp, general tsao’s chicken, and vegetable lo mein. The general tsao’s chicken was the best I’ve ever had! Big chunks of white, juicy chicken and I don’t know how they kept it so crispy with the sauce on top. The shrimps were large and plentiful. The lo mein was our favorite! Lots of freshly, perfectly cooked veggies and delicious flavor. We’ll be back!

Canton Phoenix is a mixed bag for me. I keep going between 2 and 3 stars for this place. Food was crapalicious before. It is a little ran down, but the staff is always pretty good. Food is alright now, sometimes good, so that’s a plus. It’s a real shit show on certain nights there. But I usually see someone I know, even if I don’t want to. Ok 3 stars! Canton Phoenix is OK in my book.

Very friendly and helpful service! We forgot to use the voucher, we went back and they were very helpful with us refunding things and using it again. The food was good also, we ordered some dim sum and on the menu. Will come back again.

I cannot tell you what the restaurant itself is like, we only had them with delivery the the food was very good, the prices are a bit high like most Chinese restaurants are, but at lests the portions are a good size

So over priced. Very mushy gushy tasteless food. I cannot believe that the meat there hasn’t been banned in this country. I spit out my $ 10 bite of noodles with beef because it resembled fat. So disgusting do not eat here.

Huge menu, decent prices and friendly staff… but the best part is that they deliver!

We frequently order takeout from here when we’re too lazy to cook or have an empty fridge. It’s really convenient. We’ve only had our order messed up once or twice(got something we didn’t order, or our order didn’t get put in when we called), but it was really not a big deal because it got corrected or we just had to wait a bit longer. Compared to all the times our order was perfect, these errors in our past orders obviously did not deter us away. My boyfriend’s go-to is the sesame chicken, whereas I like dishes such as the salt and pepper squid. If only the dish was purely fried squid… Yum!

Late Saturday pm, up from Eugene and Jonesing for my too-long-deferred dim sum fix. Add a late night at Paul McCartney concert and no breakfast — yes, I was primed! But where to go in Lake Oswego? Ask Unilocal! And that’s how I ended up in this highway/mall-type old-style Chinese restaurant. Ambience is haphazard and basic, booths and banquet tables and kind of cheesy, like the Chinese-American places I grew up with. But they serve dim sum all day, and from a cart too. Decent selection(at 2:30 pm, beggars can’t be choosers). Menu lists 24 types, including all the usual suspects. Ordered four, the wrapped shrimps were a little dried out but the pork ribs in black bean was excellent, and shumai was among the best I’ve had. So — a weak four stars. Some might say this is too generous, but it scratched an itch for me!

I tried this place for lunch because I work nearby and had bought a Groupon. I have been back 5 times since and will keep going. Good tea, good food nice price. I have had Kung Pao Chicken, Sesame Chicken and General Tso’s chicken and all three have been very tasty. I also always get their barbecue pork which is good quality. The lunchtime staff is always friendly and the lunch specials are a pretty good value. Hopefully yoh will enjoy what you order too !

Updating my rating from 5 stars to 2, which I originally rated over a positive takeout experience. While ordering takeout goes smoothly with few problems, dining in is not a pleasant experience. I dined in once with one other person and it felt very awkward waiting for someone, anyone, to serve us. We didn’t have an actual server, just one guy who quickly asked what we wanted before rushing off in a huff. The food came out in the wrong order and at random times, and the staff was all busy sitting on their phones or chatting at a nearby table while another was mopping/cleaning like the place was closed(even though this was an hour/45 minutes before they shut the doors.) I was very unimpressed with the bad service, dingy interior and unwelcoming cleaning going on while dining. They gave the impression that they were annoyed we wanted to dine in. I guess when you’re just dealing with take out they are more ready to help you because the service I experienced over the phone and when picking up was never like this. I won’t be returning, not even for pick-up.

I just finished a meal at Canton Phoenix and it was very good. Fair price and good portions. The place is clean with typical Chinese interior as you may expect. The service is fair, friendly but not overly. They allow you to eat without a lot of interruptions. There were many patrons in the place as well. The menu has many selections. The only draw back I would add is the young man they have assisting. When we eat there in the evening the server comes to the table to take the check and method of payment. After finishing my meal today they cleared the table and I sat there for 15 mins waiting for someone to come to my table to take the check and method of payment. Finally this young man approached my table. I gave him cash and he returned my change without a copy of the check. I asked for my senior discount and receive it but shorted me some change. I pointed that out to him and he told me they round UP if pennies involved. He also added an instruction on how to present the check and payment on the table so I do not wait next time. I thought if arrogant of him to lecture me. At no time did he give any type of apology. Otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

It was reasonably tasty and certainly plentiful. Good classic shrimp shumai, sticky rice, dumplings… Fantastic sesame balls for dessert. Friendly and attentive service. Definitely a bit greasy but for the price and amount, I’m not one to complain.

I have been here twice. The first time the food was pretty good, but not exceptional. Their pricing for lunch was great though, so I thought I would give it another chance. I received the worst case of food poisoning my doctor had seen in all his years of practice. I know it was caused by this place after talking with the Oregon health board and tracking down any causes. My BBQ was under-cooked. I was eating in the dark at home as I ordered it for take out. I eat it with a lot of hot mustard, so I did not notice it tasting funny, but I noticed the texture just wasn’t right about half way in. I turned on the light to see nearly raw pork. I figured this was not worth writing a review until I talked to two separate people that had food poisoning after eating dim sum. I think this place needs health inspector to come by and say hello.

Always a good meal. We especially like the Dry beef noodle dish. Orange chicken is a favorite too. We have been for Dim Sum many times and it is as good as it gets here in the Portland suburbs. Selfishly I wish they would deliver to Sherwood! I would probably eat here once a week if they did. P. S. I bought a Unilocal deal 12 $ for $ 20 worth of food, and it made it taste even better.

We so need a good Chinese restaurant in Portland, without having to go to Chinatown. This isn’t it. Been half dozen times. Bland food served out of order(every time), i.e. appetizers served after the main or the main comes at the same time so the fried appys suffer for getting cold. It’s fine, just very Americanized and if you’re in the mood for heavy sweet saucy food reminiscent of the 70s, 80s, then this is your place. I think a lot of folks use coupons here, we did and even with that, it’s just so so. Hohummm…

The service was absolutely horrible, but the food was great. Every time we would ask the waitress something she would say okay and walk away and never come back with what was asked for. We asked for straws 3 times before we ended up walking into the bar for them. We asked what kind of beer they had while deciding she walked off so we went to the bar to order them because she never came back. I would go again for dim sum as it was really good. Get the Lobster roll it was so good.

3 stars for bar/karaōke. Karaōke nights in the bar are actually kinda fun and a mellow and diverse crowd from the old folks from King city, Bull Mt drinkers(can cruise home and avoid cops) to some younger Tigard folk. Décor is still weird, but the food tastes better after you’ve swilled some vodka. 2 stars for lunch. FYI — they don’t have lunch specials on weekends — big difference in price on b/c you have to order dinner. Oh well. Never and probabaly won’t ever have their dinner which is totally based on my lunch experiences. It’s not terribly bad, but that leaves it pretty darn far from good. Presentation is visually challenged(colors are muted and lots of tan and red from the sweet n sour sauce). Portions are not huge and they’re stingy with the fried rice which I find odd. The deep fried shrimp was actually the best part of my meals. BBQ pork is kinda orange/grey so I avoid it as I know a place close by with outstanding BBQ pork. My mom came with me the last 2 times I was there and she enjoyed it,(she’s in her mid 70s) — so there’s that — thumbs up for senior tastebuds. Also, always old Christmas décor up all year round? The servers are pleasant and helpful. I should mention they serve dim sum in a cart, but given my other dining experiences, I dont think I’m prepared to go there.

Let’s be clear about what this review is and is not about. This review IS about good, AUTHENTIC, Cantonese-style cuisine which Canton Phoenix serves up bar none. The location leaves a lot to be desired as it’s in a nondescript strip mall, but the food is really, really good. This review will NOT address Chinese-American cuisine bastardized to fit Western tastes. If you want that, go to Panda Express. It’s cheaper. Admittedly, had it not been for my friend’s raving review about the dim sum here, I would have seen the restaurant and would have driven right past without a second glance. Any Chinese restaurant that advertises bar/lounge/video poker or lotto or whatever in my book usually means I skip it since I associate that with the aforementioned bastardized Chinese-American cuisine a la General Tso’s chicken and crab puffs. I took a chance given the dingy outside… and was pleasantly surprised by how good the dim sum was. Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and being ethnically Chinese, I know what good Cantonese cuisine is, and specifically, what good dim sum should taste like. This place has it. I thought I had previously found good dim sum at Wong’s King Seafood, but they’ve had quality control problems of late. Canton Phoenix, smaller, more like a neighborhood joint is the real deal, folks. Other reviewers write about the décor and how there are Xmas lights up year-round… Really? Do you go to a restaurant to look at Xmas lights? Does it offend your delicate senses? If so, stop writing Unilocal reviews because your headspace is all wrong. That all said, I am withholding 1-star for the décor of the place. It’s fairly pedestrian inside Canton Phoenix with a mixture of booths and tables setup for patrons. I get the sense it was a fast food restaurant at some point in time(and agree they could gussy up the inside a bit) Other reviewers have said the service staff are rude; get over it. It’s an authentic Chinese restaurant where brusqueness is the norm. You don’t go to real Chinese restaurants for the service. You go for the food. You want pseudo-Chinese and great service? Hit up any P.F. Chang’s.
