I work in Oak Forest and I loved this place. Please note the ‘loved’. I was there a couple of weeks ago and there were 5 or 6 police officers there. I asked if they were still open, and the officers said ‘yes’. I ordered my food, sat down, and then was told to leave and bascially was escorted out. Since then there has been a ‘closed for remodeling’ sign on the door…

I came here and got carryout. We ordered a few different things all together. I got some type of combination with dips and falafel. The falafel was very good. I also tried the beef shawarma which I was not crazy about at all… there was some type of spice that I did not like. The portions were generous which is a plus. Overall a pleasant experience here. I will say this though, upon reading another comment here about using Kronos meet for the gyros… I went more recently than this review and not a Kronos did I find here.

This is the first place that I ever tried middle eastern food, and I must say it is delicious. I never thought that fresh homemade hummus tasted so good. The chicken shwarama with rice is also a must have. I didn’t like the«house» dressing that they used on the salad but every other part of the meal was perfect. The portions are huge so go with an appetite. Don’t forget your hummus to go!

Not much I can say about this place except the flavor. Wasn’t what I was expecting. I’ve ordered a few things on the menu with my husband and every one of the food felt too dry and over seasoned. I can also understand there’s a customer owner relationship that can help business grow but while I was there, the waitress and one hopefully customer was just so loud and obnoxious without a care for others around them.

I still stop by here every now and then, but the quality and value have both gone downhill lately. The gyros are no longer made by them, they use the pressed Kronos meat now, like everywhere else. How sad. Also, the price of the daily specials has been raised to $ 6, and you can only choose from falafel or chicken shawarma. It used to be for $ 4.95 you could chose any wrap. Then it was different wrap specials on different days. The fries are still made fresh, and the portions are still large, but since I can no longer get both variety and value, I’ll be checking out options closer to home.

Let me start off by saying that I have eaten middle eastern food in both the city of Chicago and the Suburbs. That being said I would still only say my experience with middle eastern food is novice at best. I, however, do enjoy what I have had. Tonight at Pita Wrap I ordered a beef kabob entrée which comes with Greek salad, hummus and rice. I also ordered a small side of Baba Ghanoush for the first time. To be short, sweet and to the point the food here was prepared excellently. The beef kabob was well cooked and fresh. The pita was from a local bakery and was fluffy and fresh as well. Overall the entrée that I ordered was perfectly cooked and very tasty. What really blew me away was the Baba Ghanoush. It was wonderful. It too was very fresh. The taste was amazing and even though I have never tried it before it will be something I never pass up again. The restaurant was very clean and fairly priced. I will definitely be coming back to Pita Wrap and next time I will look to get one of their Schwarma dishes and another side of Baba Ghanoush!

Not much to say here, the room is pretty non descript, it has pictures of Jerusalem and Chicago on the walls. There is a flat screen tv in the corner. We went on a particularly chilly Saturday in April, go figure. At some point the Owner/Manager turned the heat on and made sure everyone heard that he was doing a good thing. I don’t mind a chilly room, as so much as I mind crappy food. Unfortunately, the food here on this occasion was pretty close to that. We had an appetizer of hummus. It was good, creamy and tasty but what ruined it for me was that they drowned it in olive oil. For my main course I had the falafel wrap combo and the wrap was okay maybe even a little above average. What killed it for me though was the fries they served with it was cold to the touch. We waited for food to be cooked, so obviously they thought nothing of giving us fries that were sitting there for who knows how long. There are too many better choices to consider coming back here.

I wanted to like this place more and I will give it a second chance at some other point, but my meal last night wasn’t terribly exciting. Basically I went there because I didn’t want anything fried or greasy so I didn’t get a combo, I just got a chicken schwarma pita and a greek salad. I thought the pita– and meat– was a pretty paltry portion compared to some other pita places in the burbs and city. The meat and pita were good enough but nowhere near many other places. Also, as I was finishing the 2nd half of my sandwich(they cut it in half; when i opened the wrapper I thought they gave me tacos because there were 2 tiny halves further wrapped) there was a lone pickle at the very back of the pita… it was just strange. I had eaten 95% of the pita with no taste of pickle, then all of a sudden I start biting into one. The greek salad was pretty pathetic… for 5 $ it was basically a tiny house salad(at least there was romaine not iceberg) with a sprinkling of feta and like 2 olives. They also forgot to give me the dressing which I didn’t realize until I got home, of course. For the wrap and salad it was $ 10.25. I just thought for that amount it was not worth it. Sure I could have gotten a combo but I didn’t want fries or a drink. And now that I see others mention that coupons are routinely available, that would certainly improve the value. It was say, 6 or 7 $ for the 2 items I might have felt better about it but 10 $ seemed too steep. Also the mix of items they serve is kind of strange, with the Middle Eastern stuff alongside philly cheesesteaks and burgers/fries. Still, I’d rather eat this than other fast food, so I’ll probably come back again and try something different and remember to hunt down a coupon first

Very good food, friendly staff. I am a bit picky about how I like my hummus«dressed». I don’t like too many extras topping my hummus, and when I ask them to customize it for me, they are very accomodating. I’ve been to this place probably 10 – 15 times and it is currently the primary place I think of when I’m craving hummus or chicken shawarma. I agree with another reviewer — the price for baklava is a bit high for the portion you receive. Otherwise, I like the fact that they have coupons available on the back of cash register receipts from the grocery store and in the magazines that come in the mail. Keep up the good work!

Amazing! The best and freshest Falafel wrap and Veggie burger you can ask for. My husband and I just wish we had found this restaraunt sooner!

This is a nice find in the area for Mediterranean food with a strong Lebanese influence. I have been to Detroit for business where there is large population of Lebanese and this restaurant reminds me of these same restaurants. Based on these experiences this is why I am equating The Pita Wrap’s food with Lebanese. Fresh, good middle eastern fare. On my first visit I watched as they made my falafel to order in a fryer as oppose to just taking some already pre-made out of a fridge and nuking it. OK, this is a good start. Likewise the chicken kabobs were also cooked on a grill after I ordered. While this required me to wait longer for my food, it was well worth it. If you are in a hurry to get your food and go, I would advise a little patience. You won’t be disappointed by waiting the extra 3 – 5 minutes. My chicken kabob plate came with meditteranean rice, salad, side of grilled vegetables, hummus and a pita bread. While I had ordered this for lunch, there was enough for me to save some later for a light dinner. Also, did I mention that this was around $ 10? What a great value for this kind of food! I have now been here 4 other time for either lunch or dinner and would highly recommend the kabobs, chicken or kifta, hummus as well as the freshly made falafel. My wife went generic with a gyro wrap but that was also quite tasty as compared to the overly greasy ones that you get from the local«greek» fast food place. If you choose to stay and eat the place is very open and sunny, clean with a very friendly staff. If you had never had the chance to try middle eastern fare and would like to start then I would highly recommend the Pita Wrap.

I had the chicken Kabob it was pritty good and they gave you alot of food the kabob plate came with a salad, rice and hummus and pita. I really liked the seasoning used on the chicken. Everytime i drive by there arent too many people going in and out so i was weary at first. I cant say Ill have the urge to go back, it was just Ok to me.

It’s 9:20PM, and I literally just finished eating my first meal at Pita Wrap. You know if I’m sitting down immediately to review something, it’s either really amazing or horrible beyond words. Really amazing doesn’t even cut it. Listen, I won’t mince words: I’m the pickiest vegetarian you’ll probably ever meet. I hate salads. I loathe salad dressings, mayo, etc. The thought of black beans makes my stomach turn. In short, I SUCK as a vegetarian. While our two toddlers were sleeping under the watchful eye of grandma, the husband and I decided to give Pita Wrap a go. I originally wanted falafel and a veggie burger(hey, I skipped dinner – I was ravenous by 8PM!) but they had stopped making falafel half an hour prior so the husband snagged some french fries in place of it. Bummer about missing the falafel, but we’re going back tomorrow at some point to try it, so… YEAH! :) I’m sure I’ll update my review after that, let me tell you. But I digress. The fries were good – regular fries you’ve come to expect from a grab-and-go kinda place. I’m not much for fries, though, so I can’t give them a true positive or negative take. But they were good. So that makes it positive. :) Enter my main feature: a veggie burger, cheese only. Okay, okay. So I like veggie burgers. I mean, in my life as a vegetarian(only a few years now), I’ve tried *at least* twenty varieties, ranging from Boca to Morningstar to Amy’s, from Veggie Bite to The Chicago Diner to Karyn’s Cooked. I’m picky about them, really. Here’s where my mind was completely blown: Pita Wrap has, bar none, the best veggie burger I’ve EVER tasted. No, really. The best veggie burger I’ve EVER tasted. And just to reiterate, I’ve tasted quite a few. So what made it the best? Taste and texture. It was a toothsome bite – not a flimsy, break-apart-the-second-you-look-at-it kind of patty and the taste was out of this world. Truly, if you’re looking for an amazing veggie burger in the south ‘burbs, this. is. it. Like I said, I can’t wait to go back tomorrow to try to falafel(my husband has never had falafel in his life – can you imagine?) and I will definitely get the veggie burger again. Last note, the prices are INCREDIBLE. Maybe I just have expensive tastes, but most veggie friendly food – especially of the«fast» variety – is a little pricey, IMHO. We both picked up the combo(drinks and fries – my husband went with the veg wrap which he said was fantastic) and it came to LESS than $ 14.00. An absolute steal. I kid you not when I say the veggie burger alone was worth $ 14.00. Go there. You will love it. Ten million stars. Seriously.

First the nice things: The waitress is nice, the place is clean and bright, and the seating is adequate. The chicken seems fresh and well-spiced. Not so nice things: since this place is new we thought it better to give suggestions. We had two combo lunches, which were for 4.95 each and one gyro wrap. The combos were mixed grill kabob and grilled chicken. The meat itself was good, but they went terriby cheap on the amount. Four pieces of kabob(2 chicken and 2 beef) is not right, even for that price. If you need to higher the price to justify more, then do so. it was annoying. Also, the salad was just iceberg with two slivers of carrot. They included a sad slice of orange and pineapple. it was pathetic. The rice was ok but oily and not spiced right. Some suggestions. Get rid of the random orange slice and give a dollop of hummus or baba ghannoush instead. maybe some pickles would be nice too. also, offer the garlic sauce with your kabob. toum. it is more authentic and enriches the taste of the chicken. And none of this lettuce stuff. Chopped Arabic Salad is more proper. It would be nice to give the option of yogurt with your combo platters. Spice the rice up with something other than turmeric. Maybe some allspice or other Arabic food seasonings. And a bit more meat in the wraps would be nice. Also, when you serve Baklawa. Please, dont be so stingy. For $ 1.65 i think its fair to get two pieces, Especially when each piece is so small. Also, gyros are NOT shawerma!!! you can serve one and pretend its the other. why compete with mickeys and portillos with mediocre gyros when you could serve something authentic like shawerma. im sure tons of us would pay a bit more to get the real deal. Also, your hummus is tasty, but it could use some actual lemon rather than lemon from a bottle. The pickles on it were a nice idea. We liked the idea of refill sodas, but it would probably be smarter to give out the cups since anyone can get an extra cup and serve themselves soda even if they didnt pay for it. come on now, we’re been so excited to get a middle eastern diner in the area. please dont disappoint!!!
