I really enjoyed our waitress. She made the whole expirence of this place, top notch. The food was good but not the greatest. I liked the cream of chicken soup. My sandwich was tasty but nothing to write home about. The waitress though was A plus. I will most definitely be going back.

Stopped in this location for breakfast with the Mrs. We chose this location over another because it had better reviews. We were not disappointed to say the least. The food was delivered quickly, hot, and fresh. Usually, the Mrs. has trouble finding a meal being that she’s vegan but this restaurant was most accommodating. Substitutions weren’t an issue and she thoroughly enjoyed her meal as did I. My Belgian waffle, while not as thick as I’m used to, was light and fluffy. Her pancakes weren’t mealy tasting as you get at some breakfast places. The only negatives to note were that the«cream» for the coffee was either watered down or it was actually just milk. The only other negative I noted is that the syrup was OBVIOUSLY watered down, which could easily have ruined an otherwise delectable waffle.

The Egg & I is a breakaway place specializing in several dishes based on eggs, hence the name. So, what’s a girl to do if she doesn’t eat eggs, or meat, and the Mr. wants to make a stop in? First I explained my situation to the waitress and we chuckled about my dilemma .She was very understanding, somewhat new, and therefore not well versed in the menu yet. Still, together we came up with a decent option, Veggie Benedict(hash browns instead of eggs, no hollandaise sauce, and plain pancakes on the side). I was skeptical about artichokes in a breakfast mix but it was surprisingly complimentary to the other firmer veggies. Better yet, there was actual seasoning on the veggies and I didn’t add any extra salt or pepper, a rarity for sure. The pancakes didn’t taste like cornbread, which was another plus. Overall, the waitress was polite and attentive; the food is better than most breakfast places that I frequent; the décor is neutral and comfortable; and the prices are reasonable. The create your own omelet was suggested, with noted substitutions, but the price would have been more because you pay for each additional item above the 3 already included in the omelet. Oh, the coffee is decent also, but I had decaf so I can’t say what the fancy caffeine options taste like… there were many choices.

Very positive experience. Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. They have fresh squeezed juice and that is hard to find. The kale cooler is awesome.

In the winter it was freezing in there and when we were done and wanted to pay there was nobody around. We could see people in the kitchen that saw us standing there but nobody came out so we could pay. We stood around too long just looking at each other, also with another couple there.

The food was delicious, good quick service and I liked the seasonal holiday coffee blend. They also had chicken & waffles that I didn’t have, but looked awesome

Great breakfast place in the ‘burbs! Went here on a Sunday morning and we were seated with no wait. I ordered the veggie benedict and it was great! Lots of veggies and a lot more hollandaise sauce. The ranch potatoes that were served alongside the benedict were delicious. They also have flavored coffee, which is awesome.

Cute place for breakfast! Servers were very friendly and the food was excellent. I had the raisin French toast and it was terrific! Their syrup was delicious. I would definitely come back for breakfast next visit to Tinley!

Food quality was just not there. Ordered a two egg breakfast with hash browns, turkey sausage and pancakes. Hash browns were barely warm and dry. Turkey sausage was overcooked. Pancake texture was different from what I’m used to. The only enjoyable part of my dish were the eggs.

A solid breakfast, a square meal. My boyfriend and I needed a place to fuel up for the day’s drive to New York. This is only a few minutes drive from the lot to I-80 making it an easy alternative to the fast food places. There are a lot of tasty sounding items on the menu and all are served with multiple side options to round out the meal. We both opted for«build your own skillet»: I did turkey sausage, avocado and dill havarti with roasted potatoes and he got grilled chicken, avocado, asparaugus, onion and Gouda with potato hash. Both came out with expertly cooked eggs. A side bread option was offered but we got fruit instead, which did not look so good. Service was quick and everyone was very nice. Overall a good bet for healthy or sweet eats!

Nice place to come for a casual breakfast. No wait on Father’s Day. We missed the rush. We enjoyed what we are here: from lighter side menu I had the Vera Cruz Omelette with avocado and grilled chicken. Added mushrooms. We also ordered huevos rancheros. Thumbs up for this.

It’s breakfast. It’s either right or really wrong. –1 star for being sat at a damp booth –1 star for spotty service –1 star for that strange abyss of a gap next to the booth(what was down there?!) I’m actually excited about returning because the food was pretty good. Raisin bread French toast :) Delish! Bacon cheddar waffles, you bet! The place is reminiscent of the typical breakfast diners. It’s clean. Seemingly attracts a much older crowd. The color scheme is a variation of Pepto hues or a pair of brownish 70s pants off the thrift store rack. Perhaps it’s just me, but I’m a huge believer in carpet needing to be exiled from restaurants. There’s something very unnatural and unsanitary about the whole thing. __________ Anyone notice that I can’t do math? clearly its –3 stars, but still a 3 star review… Oopps :)

What has happened here? Have not been here in a while and the food quality is bad. Use to see the owner here all the time now nothing. He use to go around asking how everything was now nothing. Got the biscuits n gravy with scrambled eggs. Only thing hot was the gravy. Eggs cold, the shredded hash Browns cold just nasty and bacon cold and rubbery. And expensive, compared to other breakfast joints like Lumes. Don’t waste your time. On a Saturday morning and only half filled no waiting should tell you something for a breakfast place. Lumes would be a wait time and packed. Ugh!

Food quality way down It must be hard to be a waitress in a self service restaurant We had loved this place, the food WAS good and the service WAS impressive. We will not be back, the one on 183rd street, and the one on LaGrange Road both appear to be more worried about making money than making happy customers. I mean one brown and serve sausage for $ 3… My wife asked do you have real sausage or brown and serve type. The waiter said Egg & I makes everything homemade. then they bring out brown and serve type sausage… Time to rethink what you are doing Egg & I

Service not so great, I would not go there again. Got the order wrong 3 times and then had to settle for a fruit plate.

Love egg and I northern region. Every Sunday after church me and my parents would eat here. And I would get the matza ball soup because of the ball so yummy. I wish they would have it down in San Antonio Texas. The service great

I asked for omlet with olives but they said didn’t have olives, then I asked for artichokes and they said they didn’t have olives. Food was not that good either, and they charged me with two random additional things like a fruit cup and French toast. Not going to come back again, quite disappointed.

Smelly Carpet. Bitter Coffee. Racist employees. Disappointing. Their food used to be good and now they are terrible. Their coffee is bitter, their crepes were rubbery and yellow — never had worse crepes in my life! There is also a distinctive stale carpet smell — they really should get rid of it. To their credit, our eggs were made perfectly but we could not understand why they did not have Texas toast… odd. However, the most upsetting thing was listening to the waitress tell another table how much she disliked Mexican people and how Mexicans are taking over restaurants, etc. Never heard such awful and racist talk — and in open public for all customers to hear no less. Needless to say, we’re not returning.

I know this review is late but the food was so good I’ve been jonesing to get back in there and EAT! My bestie and I decide to hit the Egg and I for brunch before hitting the stores. We both ordered coffee, juice and the Parisian. Whoopi! That thang was good! It’s a French version of eggs benedict! They swap the English muffin for a toasted croissant, place two perfectly poached eggs on top of croissant and ham and then top it all with hollandaise sauce garnished with green onions and a dash of Creole seasoning. Wheew! Lightly buttered toast completed our meal. Can’t say much for anything else but I can vouch for the Parisian. Go try it!

I used to love you Egg & I! What happened? We used to eat from here probably 2 times a month on average, but we’ve been trying to cut back on eating out so we haven’t been in awhile. Yesterday we decided to order breakfast for take out and it was terrible. Maybe the worst breakfast I’ve ever had. Now, more times than not we’ve ordered our food to go so I don’t think that was the problem. Since the last time we’ve been there Egg & I seems to have changed things around — and not for the better, in my opinion. They changed their take out containers to regular old Styrofoam boxes, and maybe that is the reason why every single item we ordered was cold and soggy(except for the bacon. The bacon was crisp… but cold)? Whatever the reason, it was gross. And irritating to have to reheat everything. They also changed their menu — they’ve taken our old favorites off of it. Sad face. I ordered an egg white omelet and my only choice of toast was an English muffin. Disappointing! I didn’t want an English muffin(most especially a cold and soggy muffin… ew), I wanted the silver dollar pancakes! So I figured I would just order a short stack and split them with my husband. Wait, what was that? My only pancake option is a $ 6 pancake the size of my head? Well, that sucks. No thanks. Also, according to the description I was supposed to get salsa with my omelet, which I didn’t receive. Also, the omelet was disgusting… cold and watery. It was probably watery due to the amount of vegetables in it but… well, it was dripping water from my fork while I was trying to choke it down. They have also raised their prices. We paid over $ 10 pp(including tax, but not beverage or tip) and neither the quantity nor the quality justifies the price of their food. I can’t say definitively that we won’t be back, but it’s not very likely and it won’t be our first… or second… choice.

The Egg and I is a solid choice for a pretty predictable breakfast. The best part about breakfast here is the staff. There is not a restaurant in the world with harder working or friendlier wait staff. The coffee is great, the breads very good and the egg dishes are standard. Juices and fruits are fairly institutional grade. You will get a good meal here but not an outstanding one. I like coming here but I don’t love it. On the other hand, it isn’t very expensive. Try it, you will probably like it. I feel like I a damning it with faint praise. It is just the quintessential 3, A-OK.
