MJ’s Pizza, Bar & Grill

Great wings. Service is great. I come here often and I have never had anything less than fast and friendly service and great food. It does it’s job as a casual place to eat and drink with great specials daily.

I had the California Wrap — if you like shrimp and avocado — you can’t go wrong!
The (picky) people in my party had the ahi tuna salad and the patty melt and they loved it!

the bartender forgot to wash her hands before squeezing fruit into drinks after washing the bar with a filthy rag and cleanser.

I used to frequent here all the time — had my birthday party here and even chose it as the place to bring my girls to ask them to be my bridesmaids. Service was always good and the food was on point. Over the past few visits (course of 6 months or so) the food has gotten AWFUL! I have been there three times in the past 6 months and all three times I had to actually send my food back because it was wrong! I never send food back. I have only gone 3 times because when I want a decent meal I’m not afraid they are going to screw it up. The service has gone down hill — when I sent the food back they agreed it was totally wrong — one would think there would be some what of a rush put on to rectify the situation. Nope. Second time around seemed to take longer! Maybe it was because the rest of my table was eating but still, we are talking pizza here (twice). Can’t take that long. The other one was a burger that was completely burned and tasted awful. So i sent it back and asked for my favorite buffalo chix pizza — took over 30 minutes to get said pizza. I am not going to be going back to this particular mjs location anytime soon.

This is a classic example of a good meal sabotaged by very poor service. Its bad enough when you are a table of 8 alone seated outside and you get neglected, empty drinks and waters, but we waited over an hour from the time we ordered our lunch and most of it was wrong. By the time we ate, 1:35 mins from when we first arrived, none of us felt like eating any more. The food actually wasn’t bad but its hard to be objective about how it tasted as the experience was so poor.

Clean, quick and tasty. This local restaurant is not a restaurant-​out-​of-​a-​box like so many chains. Good variety on the menu and reasonable prices. The view of the falls is lovely from many tables.

Great spot. We were at Monmouth Regional for two recitals and we showed up at 5, told the server, Marilyn, that we needed to get to a second show in about an hour. She suggested thin crust pizza so it was faster and it was terrific. We are and were out by 5:45.
We’ll be back!

Ran in with the family and needed to be real quick since we were in between dance shows. The serve, Marilyn was great and got everything fast. Definitely want to go back when not in a rush.

Great burgers, great salads along with great service.
Tried their «house beer» which is an English style ESB brewed by Flying Fish Brewery. Not my favorite style but pretty good.
All in all worth a visit or two.

We went here last night for a quiet dinner with some old friends. We sat in the lower are at a window right next to the waterfall. Beautiful scenery! I ordered the sliced flat iron on garlic bread with fries. Cooked perfectly, and full of flavor. Wife had shrimp tacos — said the first one was great, but the second had too many tomatoes. Friends had the veggie wrap and a bacon cheeseburger. I was the only one who didn’t clear my plate, but the serving was enormous.
Our server was fantastic. Attentive but not pushy. It wasn’t a busy night and there were open tables, so we chatted for a few hours after we got the check. She stopped by again just to see if we wanted any refills, even after she had cleared the check.
Dessert was good too. Warm brownie sundaes, and a bite of the Crème Brulee just to try it. I would definitely come here again.

Had a lunch Meeting was greeted quickly and friendly, service was on top of us and I was very impressed. As for the food tai chicken wings WOW!!! Hanger steak sandwich double WOW!!!
Will be back again and again.

went to dinner at MJ’s on a Friday night in January of 2015. I haven’t been to this restaurant in a few years and I recall the food being better than average on previous visits. We were seated downstairs on purpose per my request because there was a very loud band playing in the upstairs level. The hostess sat us in the quietest part of the restaurant, which I may add was against the glass windows that overlooked a creek below. my first time sitting with this view and it was not only very quiet in our area but the view was actually pretty calming.
For apps we started with the salmon bite special, a cajun coated salmon bite with a spicy sauce. very very good. I got the boneless wings with the honey thai sauce. I am not sure I have had a better boneless wing and sauce combo ever in my life. these boneless wings and the sauce are outrageous. this app alone is one of the most flavorful things ive ever eaten. If you go, please get the boneless wings. the weird part is, they do not advertise the boneless wings on the menu. amazing. please try it. I promise you will be glad you did.
for dinner, my friend got the veggie burger, which was very good. I got the pistachio and pecan crusted salmon. the fish was cooked perfectly although the crust flavor really did not come through all that much. it also had a cream sauce drizzled on top which was good. it was a solid dish. it came with rice and an asparagus mix of veggies. very good sides and large portions. we were too full for dessert! it was an exceptional meal, we will def be back.
our service on this night was excellent as well. almost forgot to mention. food came out fast and we were checked on often. great job MJ’s. we will be back very soon.

The waitress rolled her eyes at us when we asked her for a glass of water. The appetizers were just ok and French fries were soggy

I’m a regular here at MJ’s and would not change a thing. The waiters and waitresses know us and it’s nice to see a genuine smile. They like what they do and they like the patrons. I often get the broccoli /​chicken and angel hair in some white wine sauce and it’s amazing. It’s always consistent. Their quiz nights are a lot of fun and it’s very kid friendly!

Wow. This place was great. From the exterior I thought it was gonna be a rundown little restaurant but when I went inside it had a beautiful rustic modern look and a great view of the falls. So then when we sat down they gave my nephew some crayons and he asked them if they had a coloring book they told him that he can color on the table cloth which was kinda cool. Afterwards our food came out and I got a white pizza which was okay but not great. The desserts were superb apple crumb was great and the apple pie Alamo was amazing. Good restaurant took off one star because the white pizza wasn’t that great.

This 4 star rating is mainly based on the ambiance of this location and convenience to my house. The restaurant interior is very nice. It has multiple levels which all overlook the actual waterfall of Tinton Falls, which isn’t exactly Niagara Falls, but is nice enough. The bar area is very nice as well, and I’ve attended a trivia night there before which was fun.
The food is above average, but not great. Some of their items are just too plain tasting or not much different than what you can find anywhere else. The homemade pizzas are good, and they have daily specials which are probably the best thing to order. I’ve“ve eaten here about 7 times, and the food has been progressively better each time, so perhaps the food can reach «great» status at some point!
The service here is fine too. This place is worthy of four stars, however — I think the ambiance and layout is worthy of something better. That’s perhaps really not a reflection of MJ’s, but maybe a fancier restaurant suits this location better. Or on a different perspective I’ve thought that an Irish pub type feel would be good for the location. Perhaps they’ll be one at the Falls Village complex that is being built next door…
All this being said, you won’t be disappointed by MJs, and it’s the better option than Mooses, which is the bar across the street.

The Bar: Good beer selection, good/​standard food.

Interesting stop here after golf today for a few cold Pints, some afternoon Sports on TV and sandwiches, burgers & What not. Seems this is a small chain and each location has the same menu.
your Standard Sports Bar with multiple seating areas, bar tops, etc. Service was brisk and efficient. Some cold pints as previously stated along with unlimited refills on tea and lemonade.
French onion soup was different in large crock pot with dried friend onions on top of the cheese… Hot, tasty and quite filling.
Classic Grilled Chicken Ceaser salad was ok, with nice breast of chicken but salad and dressing were just ok.
Two Cuban Sandwiches were huge with few seasoned french fries… I thought they were tasty if not a little dry for a panini.
Big winner here was the 8 Oz Burger with seasoned fries… Juicy and simple but top quality meat here.
Service as stated spot on… Some pricey menu items a well as this is much more than just another sports bar.
Bathroom had NO AC and it must have been 130 degrees in there. … Burger a winner will try Pizza next time… Cuban well not bad but would not order again… No Big knocks here just Solid 3 stars…

I’m giving this place a big no based on their prices. An order of fish and chips will set you back $ 18.00! That’s about twice the price you’d pay at a nice pub in Manhattan. Most of the other menu selections except pizza are correspondingly overpriced as well. It’s a shame because the bar has a nice, elevated view of the Tinton Waterfalls.
I just can’t bring myself to pay obscene prices for average food.
